Abstract

This study aims to integratively analyze the role of student services, school culture based on Islamic values, and partnerships among schools, parents, and the community in improving the quality of Islamic education. A qualitative case study was conducted at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Assuruur using semi-structured interviews, participatory observation, and documentation involving principals, teachers, students, and parents selected through purposive and snowball sampling. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman combined with thematic analysis. The findings reveal four key aspects: the dual role of teachers in academic and character development, the strong internalization of religious culture, communicative yet non-participatory partnerships, and limited integration across educational components. These results indicate that educational quality is shaped by dynamic interactions among services, culture, and partnerships. The study contributes to an integrative framework for improving Islamic education quality through systemic and sustainable approaches. Keywords: Islamic education quality; qualitative study; school culture; student services; school partnership

Abstract

Self-confidence is an important aspect of adolescents’ social development that influences their ability to interact and adapt to their environment. Students with low self-confidence tend to experience difficulties in communicating and forming relationships with their peers. This study aims to examine the forms of low self-confidence among MTs students in peer interactions, the factors that influence it, and the role of Islamic Guidance and Counseling in helping to address these issues. The study employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. The participant was a seventh-grade student at the UINSU Medan Laboratory MTs, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and field notes, and were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that low self-confidence is characterized by difficulty initiating conversations, speaking in a soft voice, feeling shy when interacting with unfamiliar peers, and a tendency to limit social interactions to close friends. Influencing factors include internal factors such as fear, shyness, and self-doubt, as well as external factors such as the social environment and the need for acceptance by peers. Islamic Guidance and Counseling plays a role through individual counseling, group counseling, motivation, and spiritual approaches to help boost students’ self-confidence in social interactions.

Abstract

Learning motivation is a key factor influencing students’ engagement and achievement, particularly at the elementary school level. While many studies have explored learning motivation, research examining the interaction of peer influence, parental support, and teachers’ challenges in real classroom settings remains limited. This observation aimed to describe: (1) the influence of peers on students’ learning motivation, (2) forms of parental support that most affect motivation, and (3) challenges faced by teachers in maintaining students’ learning motivation. The observation was conducted on November 19, 2025, in Class V B of SD Negeri 20 Indarung, Lubuk Kilangan District, Padang City. Participants included 24 students and one classroom teacher. Data were collected through direct observation, structured and semi-structured interviews, and a five-item questionnaire. A descriptive qualitative approach with source triangulation was used for data analysis. The findings showed that more than 75% of students identified peers as their primary source of learning motivation. In addition, 58.3% reported receiving praise from their parents as a form of learning support at home, while 8.3% indicated that they received no parental support. The classroom teacher reported that student diversity, limited supervision of learning activities at home, and the influence of digital devices were the main challenges in sustaining students’ motivation. The study concludes that students’ learning motivation is shaped by the interaction of peer relationships, parental support, and teachers’ efforts. Continuous collaboration among schools, families, and students is therefore essential to maintain and strengthen learning motivation.

Abstract

Color recognition ability is an important aspect of cognitive development that should be stimulated in early childhood. Based on observations conducted at Iqra’ Kindergarten, Padang City, the color recognition ability of children aged 5–6 years had not developed optimally. This study aimed to determine the effect of interactive finger painting activities on the color recognition ability of children aged 5–6 years. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 20 children, including 10 children in the experimental class and 10 children in the control class. Data were collected through observation and analyzed using the Independent Sample t-test. The results showed that the mean score of color recognition ability in the experimental class increased from 12.0 to 15.6, while the control class increased from 10.3 to 12.2. The hypothesis test yielded a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.037 < 0.05. Therefore, interactive finger painting activities have a significant effect on improving the color recognition ability of children aged 5–6 years.

Abstract

Romantic relationships in adolescents have the potential to produce several impacts, namely the emotional, cognitive, behavioral, physical, and academic conditions of students. In Indonesia, no web-based instrument specifically designed to measure adolescent stress contextually within romantic relationships is yet available. A web-based instrument was developed because it allows access anytime and anywhere, automatic data processing, and real-time presentation of results to users. This study develops a web-based stress assessment instrument for senior high school (SMA/SMK) students who are in romantic relationships, using an R&D approach based on the Borg and Gall model modified into seven stages. The instrument was adapted from the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10) with the addition of three contextual indicators covering physical, academic, and behavioral aspects, resulting in 13 statement items on a 5-point Likert scale accessible at stressmater.my.id. The product's advantages include a responsive interface that is user-friendly for adolescents, automatic assessment results accompanied by interpretations and recommendations, and a feature for integrating the name of the school counselor (BK) corresponding to the respondent's school. Validation results indicate a design feasibility of 77% (Good) and content feasibility of 90% (Very Good), with user satisfaction at 89.8% (Very Good). Field testing involving 31 students revealed that 83.87% fell into the high stress category.

Abstract

Understanding environmental conditions that have the potential to cause disasters is an essential competency that should be instilled in elementary school students as part of efforts to develop disaster preparedness from an early age. Disasters can occur unexpectedly and have significant impacts on various aspects of human life; therefore, educational initiatives are needed to enhance students’ knowledge and readiness in dealing with emergency situations. This study aims to analyze the utilization of natural disaster comics as a facilitator of disaster preparedness understanding among elementary school students through a literature review. The method employed in this study was a literature review by examining various scientific articles, books, and relevant documents related to instructional media, disaster education, disaster preparedness, and the use of comics in learning. Data were collected through a search of relevant scientific sources, particularly through Google Scholar, and were subsequently analyzed using content analysis techniques. The findings indicate that natural disaster comics have significant potential as an effective medium for improving students’ understanding of disaster-related concepts and preparedness measures. The presentation of information through a combination of text and engaging visual illustrations can increase students’ learning interest, engagement, and retention of the material. Furthermore, disaster comics help students understand appropriate actions before, during, and after a disaster through contextual and easily comprehensible scenarios. Therefore, natural disaster comics can serve as an innovative alternative in disaster education, as they facilitate students’ understanding of disaster preparedness while fostering attitudes of awareness, responsiveness, and readiness toward potential disaster risks in their surrounding environment.
