Abstract

Digital transformation in education requires supervision systems capable of generating strategic information to support evidence-based decision-making. However, supervisory practices in many schools remain predominantly administrative, limiting the effective utilisation of supervisory data for continuous school quality improvement. This study aimed to develop the Data-Driven Supervision Dashboard Framework (DDSDF) as a conceptual data-based decision support system for enhancing school quality. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach integrated with Design Science Research (DSR). The research stages consisted of problem identification, needs analysis, conceptual model development, expert-based conceptual validation, and theoretical evaluation. The findings indicate that the proposed DDSDF integrates academic supervision data, managerial supervision data, teacher performance, student learning outcomes, and school quality indicators into an interactive dashboard equipped with data analytics, information visualisation, improvement priority recommendations, and the Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA) cycle. The framework has the potential to improve decision-making effectiveness by providing objective, adaptive, transparent, and sustainable information for school management. This study contributes a novel conceptual framework that extends the function of supervision from an administrative activity to an organisational intelligence system supporting evidence-based and continuous school quality improvement.

Abstract

Elementary school students must acquire fundamental reading and writing skills sequentially to continue learning at the next level. With the use of the Integrated CALIS Program, this study aimed to assess the initial reading and writing skills of students at SDN 30 Cakranegara. The data collection techniques used in this descriptive qualitative study were interviews, documentation, observation, and tests. The study participants were first-, second-, and fourth-grade students who participated in the Integrated CALIS Program. According to the findings, the majority of students still could not name the alphabet correctly; a significant number of students still made errors and mispronounced letters. However, some students had written letters and simple phrases effectively, read syllables and basic words, and recognized words. Nevertheless, some students struggled at the beginning of the course to recognize letters with comparable forms, write complete words and sentences, and read fluently. Some elements that influenced students' initial reading and writing skills were students' enthusiasm for learning, parental support, the intensity of practice methods, and the use of engaging learning tools. Therefore, the Integrated CALIS Program improved students' fundamental literacy skills. Therefore, continuous learning and collaboration between schools and parents is necessary to ensure that students' early reading and writing abilities are optimized.

Abstract

An Analysis of Students’ Misconceptions in Learning the Topic of Changes in States of Matter at SDS Pelangi Medan. Undergraduate Thesis. Primary School Teacher Education Study Program, Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Medan, 2026. This study aimed to describe the misconceptions of fifth-grade students at SDS Pelangi Medan regarding the concept of changes in states of matter, identify the factors contributing to these misconceptions, and describe the teacher’s efforts to overcome them. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of 15 fifth-grade students and one fifth-grade teacher at SDS Pelangi Medan. Data were collected through a diagnostic test based on the Certainty of Response Index (CRI), semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The findings revealed that most students experienced misconceptions regarding the concepts of changes in states of matter. Out of 15 students, 12 were identified as having misconceptions, while 3 demonstrated an appropriate understanding of the scientific concepts. Misconceptions were found in the concepts of melting, freezing, evaporation, condensation, sublimation, and deposition. The identified misconceptions included the belief that evaporated water disappears completely, that water droplets on the outside of a cold glass come from water leaking through the glass, and that changes in states of matter produce new substances. Factors contributing to these misconceptions included students’ prior incorrect understanding, everyday experiences that conflicted with scientific explanations, limited use of concrete learning media, and a lack of experimental activities during instruction. The teacher’s efforts to address these misconceptions included re-explaining the material, providing concrete examples, conducting simple demonstrations, facilitating discussions, and engaging students in question-and-answer activities. The study concludes that misconceptions regarding changes in states of matter are still prevalent among fifth-grade students at SDS Pelangi Medan. Therefore, learning activities should emphasize direct experiences, the use of concrete learning media, and experimental activities to help students develop a more accurate conceptual understanding.

Abstract

Mental health is a critical dimension of human well-being gaining increasing global attention, particularly amid rising social conflicts in urban communities. In Jambi City, complex social dynamics—involving community fragmentation, economic pressures, and erosion of spiritual values—create significant psychological burdens. However, the potential of Quranic values as a protective resource for mental health remains empirically underexplored. This study aims to analyze factors causing social conflict that impact the mental health of Jambi City residents and examine the relevance of the Quranic perspective as an alternative framework. A mixed-method design with sequential explanatory approach was employed. Quantitative data were collected via standardized questionnaires (GHQ-12 and Islamic SCS-R) from 250 respondents through purposive sampling; qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews with 18 key informants. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression and inductive thematic analysis. A significant negative correlation was found between social conflict intensity and mental health scores (r = -0.583; p < 0.01). Conversely, regular worship practice and Quranic tadabbur correlated positively with inner peace (r = 0.672) and meaning-seeking dimensions (r = 0.714). Key social conflict factors include economic disparity, religious identity politicization, and weak social capital. Quranic values are statistically proven to contribute to community mental resilience, yet implementation is often hindered by dissonance between normative understanding and actual social practice. Limited access to spirituality-based counseling services and insufficient psychological competence among religious leaders further widen this gap. Integration of the Quranic-spiritual approach as a complement to conventional clinical interventions in community mental health programs is the primary recommendation.
