Abstract

The quality of laboratory testing services is a critical factor in supporting educational, research, and community service activities in higher education institutions. However, the Civil Engineering Laboratory faced challenges related to the absence of standardized testing procedures and uniform documentation systems, which could affect the consistency and traceability of testing activities. This community service program aimed to strengthen the laboratory quality control system through the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and standardized testing forms. The assistance methods included field observation, needs assessment, document review, mentoring, consultation, and participatory development of quality documents. The activities focused on identifying existing testing practices, designing SOPs for laboratory operations, and developing standardized forms for recording and documenting testing results. The results showed that the laboratory successfully adopted a set of SOPs and standardized testing forms that support consistent testing procedures, improve documentation quality, and enhance data traceability. In addition, laboratory personnel gained a better understanding of quality management principles and standardized documentation practices. The implementation of these documents contributed to improving operational efficiency, reducing administrative errors, and supporting continuous quality improvement within the Civil Engineering Laboratory.

Abstract

The preservation of local history and cultural identity faces challenges due to modernization and the declining interest of younger generations in understanding local heritage. Kelurahan Gayam, Kota Kediri, possesses valuable historical and cultural assets that can be integrated with physical activity programs to strengthen community identity and promote healthy lifestyles. This community service program aimed to empower the community through the Gayam Heritage Sport Education program as an effort to preserve local history, strengthen cultural identity, and increase community physical activity. The program employed the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach involving local government, youth organizations, community leaders, schools, and residents. Activities included local history literacy workshops, heritage walking, traditional games festivals, recreational sports activities, and the development of educational media. The program involved 120 participants consisting of students, youth, and community members. The results showed a significant improvement in local history literacy, with participants’ average knowledge scores increasing from 50% in the pretest to 92% in the posttest, representing a 42% increase. Cultural identity strengthening reached an average score of 87%, with 104 participants reporting a better understanding of local culture after participating in the program. Furthermore, 78.3% of participants (94 individuals) expressed motivation to engage in regular physical activity, while the proportion of participants exercising at least three times per week increased from 35.8% to 78.3%. The program also produced educational outputs, including a local history pocketbook, educational videos, a Heritage Walk map, and a Gayam Heritage Sport Education module. These findings indicate that integrating local history education with recreational sports activities is effective in promoting cultural preservation, community engagement, and healthy lifestyles.

Abstract

The younger generation faces various national challenges in the digital era, such as the spread of hoaxes, intolerance, and a decline in the spirit of nationalism. Prospective warriors of the Setia Hati Terate Brotherhood (PSHT) as part of the youth community have a strategic role in instilling national values and defending the country. A national education program is needed that is able to increase the understanding and character of nationality effectively. Community service activities were carried out using a participatory national education approach involving 127 prospective PSHT Ranting Saradan warriors from 133 registered participants. The methods used include interactive lectures, group discussions, case studies, and joint reflection. The effectiveness of the program was evaluated through pre-test and post-test using 15 indicators that included aspects of Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the Republic of Indonesia, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, defending the country, and contemporary national challenges. The results of the evaluation showed that the average level of participants' understanding increased from 68.3% in the pre-test to 89.0% in the post-test or an increase of 20.7 points. The highest increase occurred in the understanding of the concept of national defense, the form of national defense for the younger generation, and the impact of hoaxes on national unity. The participatory national education program has proven to be effective in improving national insight and the character of defending the country for prospective PSHT Ranting Saradan warriors. A participatory approach that integrates national values with the organizational culture of pencak silat has the potential to become a model of community service that can be replicated in other youth communities.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of communication technologies and the widespread penetration of digital culture have significantly accelerated the emergence of code-switching phenomena, characterized by the blending of Indonesian and English expressions in the daily communication practices of Generation Z. This linguistic trend has frequently contributed to communication gaps and emotional tensions between adolescents and parents, particularly those with limited digital literacy. This community service program aims to address these interpersonal communication barriers through a communicative da’wah-based approach, interactive lectures, lexical breakdown workshops (popular slang glossary), and dialog simulation (roleplay). The target partners of this program were the members of the Al Jannah Women’s Qur’anic Study Group at Musholla Babul Ihsan, Bromo Lorong Damai Street, Medan City. Using a descriptive qualitative method grounded in participatory observation and oral feedback analysis, this program examined changes in participants’ perspectives regarding the psycholinguistic dynamics of adolescents. The findings indicate that a humanistic, faith-based learning approach was effective in reducing parental emotional resistance, significantly improving modern vocabulary literacy, and fostering awareness of assertive parenting communication patterns. Following the intervention, participants demonstrated improved ability to interpret the emotional meanings embedded in adolescents’ contemporary expressions, thereby reducing potential emotional conflict within the family environment

Abstract

The low interest of elementary school students in athletics is caused by conventional teaching methods and limited facilities. This community service program aims to socialize and train teachers on implementing circuit-based Kids' Athletics for PE teachers and students in partner public elementary schools. The method relies on Technology Transfer and Participatory Assistance approaches, consisting of policy socialization, technical workshops on self-modifying equipment assembly, and direct on-field coaching clinics. Evaluation results indicate a significant increase in teachers' cognitive competence, with the average score rising from an initial 58.3% to 89.7% post-training. Psychomotorically, teachers successfully assembled and managed four circuit game stations (Formula One, Shuttle Hurdle, Frog Jump, Turbo Throwing) safely. Students' psychological responses after the intervention also showed highly increased interest in athletics, reaching 86.5% (exceeding the initial target of ≥ 80%). The program concluded with the donation of eco-friendly modified athletic equipment packages and printed modules to ensure independent program sustainability. In conclusion, this synergy of socialization and training effectively overcomes physical infrastructure barriers while enhancing joyful and inclusive PE instruction

Abstract

The current rapid development of technology allows literacy to be connected with technological, informational, and scientific literacy. A person's ability to read and write is the most fundamental aspect of developing broader literacy skills. The Indonesian population, according to the Central Statistics Agency, has only 10% interest in reading. This research uses a qualitative approach. The PKM activities were conducted using the Training and Mentoring method, where children were invited to read using the interactive storytelling method and the visual education method thru bilingual media using an English-Indonesian picture dictionary, which involved the use of interactive and colorful visual media. The result of the community service was that the activities were met with enthusiasm from both the foundation's chairman and the orphanage children. The storytelling method effectively alleviated the children's boredom with regular textbooks, fostering their curiosity and engaging them in interactive Q&A sessions during the story. This demonstrates that this method has proven to change the perception that reading is an exciting and enjoyable activity. With the distribution of colorful bilingual picture dictionaries, children are given an easier way to memorize everyday vocabulary, starting from body parts and objects around the house, thereby enriching their English vocabulary.

Abstract

The digitall gap in SDN 42 Ampenan is a very important issue, students are already familiar with technology, while teachers are still using conventional methods due to age and time constraints. The program is about improving teachers’ digital skills. The service method applies four stages (identification, planning, implementation, evaluation) through participatory mentoring and hands-on training methods. This was done by three interactive sessions that introduced digital LKPD, 3D media, and AI. The mentoring results showed that hands-on practice had successfully broken through the resistance of teachers to technology. This training has hugely increased teachers’ motivation, confidence and practical understanding on how to integrate digital platforms in learning. This program has shown results and can be a replicable model for digital literacy in elementary schools.

Abstract

Insufficient physical activity and increasing sedentary behavior among adolescents remain major public health concerns, highlighting the need to strengthen health literacy through school-based interventions. Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) teachers play a strategic role in promoting active lifestyles, yet they require innovative learning resources to support effective health education. This community service program aimed to improve the health literacy of junior high school PJOK teachers through training on the use of the Aktif Bergerak Interactive Pocket Book. The program involved 13 PJOK teachers from the Nganjuk Regency Subject Teacher Association (MGMP). Activities included needs assessment, workshop-based training, interactive demonstrations, and hands-on practice using the pocket book. Program effectiveness was evaluated using pretest–posttest health literacy assessments, participant evaluations of the learning media, and satisfaction questionnaires. The findings showed a significant improvement in teachers' health literacy scores, with the mean score increasing from 61.54 to 76.15 (p = 0.007). Participants also rated the interactive pocket book highly in terms of content quality, attractiveness, usability, and visual design, while expressing high satisfaction with the implementation of the training. These findings indicate that the Aktif Bergerak Interactive Pocket Book is a practical and effective educational resource for enhancing teachers' health literacy and supporting the promotion of physically active lifestyles in junior high schools.

Abstract

This community service program aims to develop character values in the Sragen community through karate martial arts coaching based on character education. The program addresses the challenges faced by the community in maintaining positive character values amidst the influence of globalization, social media negative impacts, and shifting traditional values. Using a Community-Based Research (CBR) approach, this program involved the recruitment and training of karate coaches, socialization to the community, structured training programs integrating character values, and regular monitoring and evaluation. The program was implemented over eight months (March–October 2025) in Sragen, Central Java, targeting youth, students, and local communities. The results showed significant improvements in discipline (from low-moderate to high), responsibility (from moderate to high), sportsmanship (from moderate to high), hard work (from moderate to high), and social respect (from low to moderate-high). Behavioral changes identified included increased time discipline and commitment, decreased aggressive behavior and conflicts, establishment of mutual respect and cooperation culture, and emergence of young leaders. The program produced a character-based karate training model, video documentation, media publications, and policy recommendations. This program proves effective in building community character through karate and has the potential to be replicated in other regions.
