Abstract

In 2025, Aceh experienced a flood disaster that resulted in the loss of homes in several areas. A total of 203 sub-districts were affected by the disaster, approximately 2 million people were impacted, and around 111 thousand people were displaced according to data from the Aceh Provincial BPBD as of January 16, 2026. During the recovery period after the flood disaster, elementary school students face various problems, such as declining health conditions due to an unhygienic environment, reduced physical activity leading to decreased fitness, and an increased risk of accidents and injuries in the school environment. Therefore, a structured and sustainable school-based community service program is needed thru an integrated educational approach that incorporates health, fitness, and safety aspects for elementary school students after the flood disaster. The implementation of this community service activity is carried out by developing an appropriate curriculum for students in emergency schools during the post-disaster recovery period.

Abstract

Mathematics learning in schools continues to encounter challenges, particularly related to low student engagement and learning motivation. One contributing factor is the limited utilization of innovative learning media in classroom instruction. Gamification offers an alternative approach by integrating game elements into learning activities to enhance students’ interest in mathematics learning. Nevertheless, teachers in the Junior High School Mathematics Teachers’ Working Group (MGMP) of Lhokseumawe City still face difficulties in developing and implementing gamification-based learning media. Therefore, this community service program aimed to enhance teachers’ pedagogical understanding and technical skills in developing gamified mathematics learning media. The program was conducted on May 15–17, 2026, involving 20 junior high school mathematics teachers and 2 Mathematics Education students as technical assistants. The implementation employed a participatory workshop and mentoring approach consisting of training sessions, media development workshops, learning simulations, and evaluation activities. Participants were guided in developing learning media using digital platforms such as Quizizz, Wordwall, Kahoot, and Gimkit. The results demonstrated that participants were able to develop gamification based mathematics learning media and improve their understanding of gamification concepts, digital platform utilization, and interactive media development. Furthermore, the program strengthened teachers’ motivation and confidence in integrating digital technology into mathematics instruction.

Abstract

Coronary heart disease is one of the major health issues in the Maek Sub-district, driven by low levels of physical activity, limited public knowledge about disease prevention, and underutilization of local resources such as gambir plants. These conditions have led to an increase in cases of degenerative diseases and low community well-being. This community service program aims to improve public health through the promotion of healthy heart exercises and to empower the local economy through training in gambir processing based on local knowledge. Implementation methods include health education, healthy heart exercise sessions led by certified instructors, as well as industrial training and demonstrations of simple technologies for gambir processing to add value. The results of the activities demonstrate an increase in community knowledge regarding the importance of physical activity, the formation of healthy heart exercise communities, and improved skills in processing gambir into economically valuable products. Discussions indicate that the integration of health education and local economic empowerment not only enhances awareness and healthy lifestyle behaviors but also strengthens the community’s economic potential in a sustainable manner. Overall, this program contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through improved health outcomes, economic growth, and the optimization of local resources

Abstract

This community service program aims to develop an integrated agro-tourism and wellness educational tour package in Sugihen Village, Juhar District, Karo Regency, North Sumatra. Despite its diverse agricultural potential such as premium rice, lemongrass oil for wellness, and innovative liquid smoke technology for pest control and security the village lacks standard hospitality and structured tour operations. To bridge this gap, a team of lecturers from the Hospitality Management Study Program at Institut Bisnis IT&B Medan conducted a participatory mentoring program on May 15, 2026. The training targeted 20–25 participants from local farmer groups, family welfare empowerment (PKK) groups, youth groups, and village officials. It covered essential competencies, including hospitality mindset, tour guiding with storytelling, local mixology for welcome drinks, and standard wellness presentation using local lemongrass oil. The program successfully transformed the community's paradigm into a professional hospitality mindset and produced a customized Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) handbook for village guest management. Evaluation data showed that 100% of participants rated the instructors, modules, and their own post-training comprehension as excellent, establishing a sustainable framework for economic self-sufficiency.
