Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe that the Government of Kuwait, through its official social media, uses a lot of euphemistic and dysphemic language styles in conveying information in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic. This study uses a qualitative approach with content analysis to understand the symbolic messages contained in documents, paintings, dances, songs, literary works, and others as unstructured data. The data collection technique used is the observation and note-taking technique. Listening in the context of this study means reading, which is then recorded to document the data obtained. The data analysis technique used is the equivalent referential technique to find out grammatical units such as euphemisms and dysphemisms, while to analyze the background of the use of euphemisms and dysphemisms, pragmatic equivalent analysis is used. Based on the results of an analysis of data obtained from the official social media of the Ministry of Health of Kuwait, many euphemistic and dysphemistic forms were found in conveying information regarding the latest matters and developments regarding Covid-19 in the country of Kuwait. It is used for specific purposes. The purpose of using euphemistic forms is to avoid mentioning negative reality, which aims to minimize the harmful effects of utterances that seem scary, worrying, make noise, offend, hurt, disrespect, or violate social norms. Euphemistic forms also aim to evoke an optimistic attitude toward residents in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. The use of the dysphemistic form used by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health in presenting information about matters related to Covid-19 in that country is aimed at scaring, showing annoyance, and giving warnings so that they are even more vigilant in dealing with the Covid 19 pandemic.

Abstract

Writing as a language skill is still considered a language skill that is categorized as very difficult. Various kinds of problems arise in learning to write Arabic because writing skills are skills that combine various disciplines. Therefore, teachers must continually innovate in the learning process, such as choosing a learning model or using various learning methods, one of which is gamification-based Arabic learning. Gamification is a modern educational strategy popular in the West, namely educational stimulation by applying game elements and principles in non-game contexts. This article describes Gamification's use in teaching high school students writing skills. The research method used is the descriptive method with the desk research method. The results of the study show that the use of Gamification in teaching writing skills can improve the quality of learning, especially in Arabic, so that students can master writing skills in an easy and fun way, and can lead to the development of teaching writing skills in a social context following their interests, motivations, and needs Student. This study recommends further research to test the effectiveness of Gamification on other Arabic language skills with a more varied research method.

Abstract

Textbooks are essential components in learning, but errors are often found, including syntax. It aims to analyze some of the errors found in the textbook used as a reference in learning Arabic at MA Madinatul Ulum and explain the implications of these errors on Arabic Learning. This research uses library research with an applied linguistic approach in error analysis. Data was collected using documentation techniques related to Arabic textbooks, books, journals, and other written works. The data analysis used is a content analysis technique with several steps: identifying, interpreting, and correcting. The research showed that significant syntactic errors were identified. However, the textbook covers various aspects of Arabic skills, such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with various cognitive, psychomotor, and affective tasks. These errors deviate from standard Arabic grammar norms, compromising instructional quality, affecting student evaluations, and posing challenges for teachers. By involving language experts in developing instructional materials, providing training for teachers, and promoting the use of alternative learning resources, it is hoped that syntactic errors in instructional materials can be minimized, thereby enhancing the quality of Arabic learning. Recommendations include thoroughly reviewing and improving materials to ensure adherence to educational standards emphasizing syntactic accuracy. Future research should expand to encompass broader aspects of Arabic instruction beyond syntax, encompassing morphology and semantics to enhance educational effectiveness

Abstract

This article aims to understand the grammatical errors in the translated text of "Qasas Al-Nabiyyīn" by Abu Hasan Ali Hasani Nadwi. This research uses the descriptive qualitative method to identify morphological and syntactic errors in the translated text. Data collection was done by collecting the original text of the source language and its translation in the book "Qasas Al-Nabiyyīn." The data collection steps involved identifying pairs of both languages for grammatical analysis, followed by data analysis to identify grammatical errors. The analysis results showed 18 grammatical errors in the translation of the book, consisting of 7 morphological errors and 11 syntactic errors. These errors impact the incompatibility of the message contained in the source text. In order to correct the grammatical errors, a correction analysis was conducted on the target language, especially in Indonesian, by referring to the applicable grammatical rules. This article concludes that correcting grammatical errors can improve the accuracy and clarity of the message in the translation of "Qasas Al- Nabiyyīn" so that it can be more effectively conveyed to readers who speak the target language. This analysis contributes to a practical understanding of the importance of paying attention to grammatical aspects in translating religious texts. Recommendations for future research include developing more effective translation strategies involving source and target language experts. Research can expand the scope of analysis to explore semantic and pragmatic aspects of translated texts. In addition, further research could consider the impact of cultural context on the understanding and interpretation of religious texts in translation. The results of this study are expected to provide a foundation for developing better translation guidelines, improve the quality of translated religious texts, and facilitate a deeper understanding of essential messages in religious literature.

Abstract

This research delves into the efficacy of interactive-communicative learning methodologies in enhancing Arabic speaking proficiency, particularly within the realm of Muhādatsah (conversation). Interactive-communicative learning underscores direct learner interaction, fosters active communication, and furnishes an authentic educational environment. It is a potentially superior alternative to conventional learning techniques for bolstering Arabic speaking proficiency. The research amassed qualitative and quantitative data through classroom observations, interviews, and speaking proficiency assessments. Participants, comprising students with varying degrees of Arabic speaking skills in a tertiary education setting, were segmented into two groups: an experimental cohort exposed to interactive-communicative learning and a control cohort following traditional pedagogical approaches. The outcomes evinced a marked enhancement in Arabic speaking proficiency among learners engaging with interactive-communicative instruction vis-à-vis the control group. Those in the experimental cohort exhibited more pronounced advancements in vocabulary acquisition, sentence construction, and oral fluency, alongside a heightened confidence in Arabic communication. These findings suggest that interactive-communicative learning holds promise as a pragmatic strategy for ameliorating Arabic speaking aptitude. They underscore the significance of integrating genuine, contextualized learning experiences to facilitate learners' linguistic competence development. Subsequent research endeavors could explore techniques to enhance the efficacy of interactive-communicative learning within Arabic language education contexts.

Abstract

The prevailing issues in education have shown that schools and teachers have struggled to implement effective Arabic learning methodologies. While teachers comprehend various teaching approaches, these methods are often ineffective for students. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the al-sam'iyyah al-syafawiyyah learning method in teaching Arabic at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta. The research used a qualitative method to involve teachers and students within SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta. Data collection methods included interviews, observations, and documentation. The analysis followed Miles and Huberman's data display, reduction, and verification techniques. Triangulation was utilized to fortify the research data from fieldwork and primary sources (literature). The study revealed significant disparities between the al-sam'iyyah al-syafawiyyah method and the conventional teaching approaches practiced by teachers at the school. According to teacher feedback, the predominant method used thus far has been lecturing, resulting in 60% of students not mastering the 'mufradāt.' Conversely, the implications of the al-sam'iyyah al-syafawiyyah method indicated highly engaged, active, and practical students. This method primarily focuses on enhancing student concentration through listening, imitating teacher explanations, and practicing the fluency of 'mufradāt.'
