Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of measuring the performance of Islamic Commercial Banks (BUS) which is not only oriented towards profitability, but also on the implementation of the principles of Maqashid al-Syariah and good sharia governance. The study aims to analyze the effect of Maqashid Sharia-Based Performance (MSI) and Sharia Governance Index (SGI) on the financial performance of BUS in Indonesia for the period 2019–2024. The study uses a quantitative approach with a panel data Fixed Effects method on 8 BUS with a total of 48 bank-year observations. The analysis was conducted using Driscoll-Kraay robust standard errors to address heteroscedasticity and autocorrelation. The results show that MSI, SGI, and the MSI×SGI interaction have a positive and significant effect on Return on Assets (ROA). In addition, ESG Score, bank size, and CAR have a positive effect, while NPF and BOPO have a negative effect on ROA. These findings indicate that the integration of Maqashid Sharia principles and strong sharia governance can improve the profitability and sustainability of BUS. This research provides practical implications for regulators and management of Islamic banks in developing a more comprehensive sharia-based performance evaluation system.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of Islamic Banking Digitalization (IBD) on Financial Inclusion (FIN) and Customer Loyalty (LOY) among Muslim bank customers in West Java, with Customer Trust (TRUST) as a mediating variable. Employing a Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach on 150 respondents selected through purposive sampling, results reveal that IBD (? = 0.312; p < 0.001), FIN (? = 0.278; p < 0.001), and their interaction IBD×FIN (? = 0.187; p = 0.003) positively and significantly affect customer loyalty. TRUST exerts the strongest direct effect on LOY (? = 0.423; p < 0.001) and partially mediates both IBD ? LOY and FIN ? LOY pathways (indirect ? = 0.167 and 0.144; p < 0.001). The model explains 68.47% variance in loyalty (R² = 0.6847). Findings underscore that Sharia-compliant digital banking services, integrated with financial inclusion strategies, are critical drivers of Muslim customer loyalty when underpinned by institutional trust and Islamic financial literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the cash flow dynamics of PT X’s construction project using the Markov Chain Model. The data used consist of monthly net cash flows for the period from June 2020 to December 2025, which are classified into four states: Severe Deficit, Moderate Deficit, Stable, and High Surplus. The analysis was conducted using a transition probability matrix, steady-state distribution, multi-period probability prediction, and Mean First Passage Time (MFPT). The results of the study show that PT X’s cash flow condition is volatile and is not strongly dominated by any particular state. The steady-state distribution shows that the company’s long-term probability of being in the deficit group, consisting of Severe Deficit and Moderate Deficit, reaches 49.87%, while the probability of being in the non-deficit group, consisting of Stable and High Surplus, reaches 50.12%. These findings indicate that deficit risk and non-deficit opportunities are relatively balanced. Therefore, PT X needs to manage liquidity, cash reserves, receivables, project terms, and working capital in a more adaptive and probability-based manner.

Abstract

The implementation of biomass co-firing in coal-fired power plants has become one of Indonesia’s transitional energy strategies to support carbon emission reduction in the electricity sector. However, the integration of biomass into coal combustion systems may affect operational performance and technical efficiency. This study titled Technical Efficiency of Coal-Fired Power Plants at Electric Power Generation Companies in the Implementation of Biomass Co-Firing aims to analyze the technical efficiency of coal-fired power plants within an electric power generation company before and after the implementation of biomass co-firing using the Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) approach. The study employs monthly panel data from four coal-fired power plant units in Java over the 2017–2024 period. The estimation model applies a translog production function using the one-stage Battese and Coelli (1995) approach. The results indicate that the average technical efficiency of power plants remains relatively high after the implementation of biomass co-firing. The adoption of biomass co-firing has not significantly reduced technical efficiency, as the proportion of biomass in the fuel mix remains relatively low. In addition, plant age and biomass co-firing significantly influence technical inefficiency. These findings suggest that biomass co-firing can serve as a feasible transitional energy strategy without substantially disrupting the operational performance of coal-fired power plants.

Abstract

This inquiry aims to evaluate the effect of Job Demands and Perceived Organizational Support (POS) on Employee Performance, with Employee Engagement serving as a mediating variable in the industrial manufacturing field. The research applies a quantitative associative approach using Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM PLS). The target population consisted of 199 employees, whereas 133 respondents were determined using the Slovin formula at a 5% margin of error. Data were gathered using a structured questionnaire based on a five point Likert scale. The outcomes indicate that Perceived Organizational Support strengthens Employee Engagement and Employee Performance, while Job Demands diminish Employee Engagement together with Employee Performance. Furthermore, Employee Engagement demonstrates a significant favorable effect on Employee Performance. The mediating analysis verifies that Employee Engagement serves as an important connecting mechanism between Job Demands and Employee Performance, as well as between Perceived Organizational Support and Employee Performance. Addressing the limited empirical evidence in labor intensive and seasonal manufacturing contexts, this study extends the Job Demands Resources (JD R) framework by validating Employee Engagement as a key mediating channel and provides managerial guidance for balancing Job Demands and strengthening institutional support to enhance workforce productivity. The findings strengthen the Job Demands Resources (JD R) framework and emphasize the importance of harmonizing Job Demands with adequate organizational support to enhance Employee Engagement and performance achievements. The research further offers applicable recommendations for leaders in formulating human resource strategies intended to foster Employee Engagement and elevate organizational efficiency within manufacturing industries

Abstract

Indonesia’s electricity sector remains heavily dependent on coal-fired power plants (CFPPs), which play a crucial role in maintaining the reliability of the national electricity supply, particularly within the Java–Bali power system. However, this dependence also contributes significantly to environmental emissions and pollution. This study aims to measure and analyze the eco-efficiency of coal-fired power plants operated by PT X within the Java–Bali grid during the 2023–2025 period. The research employs a quantitative approach using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) with the Slack-Based Measure (SBM) and Directional Distance Function (DDF) models. The input variables include fuel costs, maintenance costs, labor costs, and depreciation costs, while the outputs consist of electricity generation as the desirable output and SO?, NOx, and particulate emissions as undesirable outputs. The results indicate that most power plant units achieved relatively high eco-efficiency levels, with several Decision-Making Units (DMUs) reaching the efficiency frontier. JATIM 1 and JATIM 3 power plants demonstrated the highest and most consistent eco-efficiency performance, whereas JABAR and JATIM 2 exhibited greater fluctuations in efficiency. Slack analysis revealed that the primary sources of inefficiency were excessive input utilization and emission levels exceeding optimal benchmarks during certain operational periods. These findings suggest that improvements in eco-efficiency can be achieved through resource optimization, enhanced technical efficiency, strengthened emission control measures, and the implementation of energy transition strategies, such as biomass co-firing. This study provides valuable insights for industry practitioners and policymakers in promoting more efficient and sustainable power generation management.
