Abstract

Teachers’ strategies in developing High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)-based instruments are essential in responding to the advancement of knowledge and in producing highly competent students. This study aims to describe teachers’ strategies in developing HOTS-based assessment instruments in Indonesian language subjects. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through interviews with three (3) participants. Data analysis was conducted in three (3) stages: data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that teachers' strategies in developing HOTS-based questions include: 1) analyzing the core competencies (KD), 2) determining the learning objectives to be achieved, 3) designing the test blueprint by identifying the HOTS-related KD, formulating achievement indicators, selecting appropriate materials, formulating item indicators, determining the HOTS cognitive level based on Bloom’s taxonomy, and developing multiple-choice or essay questions, 4) choosing contextual stimuli to introduce the questions, 5) writing items based on the blueprint, 6) preparing answer keys, and 7) analyzing validity, reliability, difficulty level, and item discrimination. The implications of the study suggest that it can serve as a reference for teachers in designing HOTS-based assessment instruments.

Abstract

Learning should not be limited to the delivery of theoretical material, academic facts, or mere knowledge. Instead, it should be designed to provide opportunities for students to develop a wide range of essential competencies. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) model as an innovative approach in mathematics learning to improve the arithmetic skills of third-grade students at SD Islam Sultan Agung 4. This research is a case study with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. Data validity was ensured through triangulation of sources, theories, researchers, techniques/methods, and time. The findings show that the implementation of the TGT model in mathematics learning involved three stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. Through this model, students’ arithmetic abilities improved, as evidenced by increased performance in indicators such as understanding subtraction concepts, completing missing numbers, and applying various problem-solving strategies. Furthermore, students were able to solve word problems systematically and apply subtraction concepts in daily life.

Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in elementary schools through a literature review. Using the Systematic Literature Review method, data were collected from relevant research journals published between 2023 and 2024. The data analysis technique used was the systematic review method. The analysis of ten journals indicates that the implementation of the PjBL model has a positive impact on improving student learning outcomes, including enhancement in critical thinking, creativity, collaborative thinking skills, and communication. The PjBL learning model has proven effective in various subjects such as Mathematics, Science, and Art, as evidenced by a significant increase in the average scores of students after the implementation of PjBL. Additionally, PjBL encourages active student participation in the learning process through tasks and real-life projects that are relevant to daily life. However, its effectiveness is highly dependent on the teacher's competence in designing and managing the learning process. This study concludes that PjBL is an effective learning model for improving student learning outcomes and 21st-century skills in elementary schools, with the caveat that continuous evaluation is necessary to optimize its implementation.
