Abstract

Purpose: This community service aimed to improve farmer group (Gapoktan) understanding of the Definitive Group Needs Plan (RDKK) system in Cikole Village, Sumedang, to address poor distribution of subsidized fertilizers caused by gaps in knowledge and capacity. The goal was to empower Gapoktan so farmers could better access essential agricultural inputs. Method: A qualitative case study with a participatory approach was used, involving field observations, interviews, and a socialization session led by KKN students and the local Agriculture and Food Security Unit. The intervention focused on clarifying Gapoktan’s roles and responsibilities within the RDKK process. Practical Applications: The activity successfully transferred knowledge about the RDKK system, enabling Gapoktan to take direct action in managing their fertilizer needs. Farmer groups shifted from passive recipients to active participants by updating and verifying member data in the e-RDKK system. Conclusion: The KKN program significantly improved Gapoktan’s understanding and sense of responsibility regarding the RDKK, correcting the misconception that registration was solely the task of extension workers. This change supports more accurate, fair, and efficient fertilizer distribution, strengthening local institutional capacity and food security.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to prevent anemia among adolescents by increasing their knowledge and improving hemoglobin levels through nutrition education and iron supplementation. Anemia is a significant public health problem among adolescents, especially girls, caused by increased iron requirements, unbalanced dietary patterns, and limited nutritional awareness. Method: A quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test without a control group was employed. The study involved 70 adolescents aged 13–18 years in Cihideung Village, Bandung Barat Regency. Participants attended interactive nutrition education sessions and received iron supplementation for 15 days. Data were collected using knowledge questionnaires and hemoglobin measurements and analyzed with a paired t-test. Practical Applications: The findings can be applied to develop community-based interventions for anemia prevention among adolescents. Implementing similar programs in schools and youth organizations may enhance awareness, encourage healthy eating behaviors, and reduce anemia prevalence. Conclusion: The intervention significantly increased adolescents’ knowledge and improved hemoglobin levels, reducing anemia prevalence from 34.3% to 18.6%. Combining education with supplementation is an effective strategy for preventing anemia in adolescents.

Abstract

Purpose: Coastal areas frequently face the threat of increasingly intense tidal and tidal flooding due to climate change and sea level rise. These conditions disrupt dock operations and endanger the safety of infrastructure and surrounding communities. To address these challenges, this research designed and developed a new system. Method: An Internet of Things (IOT)-based Automatic Early Detection Floating Dock is an adaptive mitigation solution. The system is equipped with various sensors, including ultrasonic sensors, water pressure sensors, and a GPS module, to monitor sea level in real time. Practical Applications: Collected data is automatically transmitted to an online monitoring platform using a wireless connection, enabling rapid analysis and early warnings to stakeholders. An adaptive floating mechanism allows the pier to automatically adjust its height according to changing water levels, ensuring its operational and safe operation. Conclusion: System testing demonstrated that the tool can predict potential tidal flooding early and function stably in dynamic marine conditions. This innovation not only increases the resilience of dock infrastructure but also provides direct benefits for early warning systems in coastal areas. The application of this technology is expected to be part of a long-term adaptation strategy to the impacts of climate change in coastal areas.

Abstract

Purpose: This study addresses the challenge of ineffective organic waste management in Indonesia by developing a technology-driven, community-based model. Method: An integrated system was implemented at an Integrated Waste Processing Facility (TPST), featuring an automatic sorter using color, infrared, and weight sensors, combined with an anaerobic bioreactor for biogas production. The process was monitored through an IoT platform for real-time control. Practical Applications: The system improved sorting efficiency and reduced processing time, while community training increased household waste segregation participation from 15% to 48%. Conclusion: The model achieved 92% sorting accuracy and produced an average of 22 m³ of biogas per ton of waste, demonstrating that combining automation with social empowerment creates an effective and replicable solution for sustainable waste management and renewable energy transition.

Abstract

Purpose: This community service activity evaluated tourism facility management challenges in the Tengger Traditional Cultural Tourism Package at Sedaeng Village, Pasuruan Regency, addressing operational inefficiencies in ceremonial equipment maintenance, sanitation facilities, and wayfinding systems that compromised visitor experience and community economic benefits. Method: Employing participatory action research over three months (March-June 2025), the study conducted facility audits using Indonesian Tourism Standards, facilitated collaborative workshops with local managers, implemented practical improvements, and evaluated outcomes using mixed methods including before-and-after performance metrics and visitor feedback forms. Practical Applications: Implemented solutions included a simplified digital inventory system, standardized storage protocols for ceremonial equipment (gelang lawe, satak bolong), sanitation renovations, and locally-sourced signage, resulting in 66.7% reduced equipment retrieval time, 40.6% lower damage rates, and 17% higher visitor satisfaction. Conclusion: The study demonstrates that culturally-sensitive facility management interventions significantly enhance operational efficiency in community-based cultural tourism while preserving authenticity, providing a replicable model for similar indigenous tourism destinations seeking sustainable development through academic-community partnerships.
