Abstract

This study presents the design and validation of a digital learning module aed at enhancing multicultural citizenship competence among higher education students. Using the Research and Development (R&D) method and the ADDIE framework (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) the module was tested across three Indonesian universities: STKIP Kusuma Negara, STKIP Arrahmaniyah, and Pamulang University. A total of 30 students participated in preliminary testing, followed by 54 students in field trials. The module and its accompanying web-based digital were evaluated by two subject matter experts and two media specialists to ensure content accuracy and media quality. Results showed high feasibility ratings (module: 87.56%; web digital: 91.31%), strong effectiveness (module: 88.71%; web digital: 88.80%), and notable practicality (module: 86.61%; web digital: 90.30%). Feedback from lecturers and students emphasized the module’s accessibility, clear structure, interactive features, and adaptability to diverse learning contexts. The digital format allowed for flexible integration into various teaching environments, promoting student engagement and cross-cultural understanding. This research contributes an innovative, culturally responsive, and technology-enhanced resource for civic education, supporting the development of inclusive, tolerant, and globally aware citizens in higher education settings. It also demonstrates the potential of digital pedagogy in advancing multicultural values in Curricula.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada fenomena fear of success yang dialami oleh guru wanita di SDIT Bayyinah Tahfizul Qur’an, Banda Aceh. Masalah penelitian ini terletak pada tingginya tingkat kecemasan dan ketidakpercayaan diri guru wanita terkait peluang kenaikan jabatan untuk posisi yang lebih tinggi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan studi kasus. Populasi dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 17 orang guru wanita di SDIT Bayyinah Tahfizul Qur’an. Pemilihan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling sehingga diperoleh empat orang partisipan yang sesuai dengan kriteria yang telah ditentukan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor-faktor seperti konflik peran ganda, tuntutan keluarga terutama dari mertua dan konflik sosial dengan rekan sekerja memainkan peran yang sangat signifikan dalam menimbulkan "fear of success" di kalangan guru wanita. Guru wanita cenderung menghindari peluang kesuksesan yang lebih tinggi, karena memiliki kekhawatiran tidak dapat membagi waktu antara pekerjaan dan tanggung jawab rumah tangga, selain itu stigma sosial yang diberikan oleh keluarga terdekat mengenai peran wanita sebagai ibu rumah tangga juga turut menyumbang ketakutan pada wanita untuk mengambil tawaran posisi yang lebih tinggi. Adapun bentuk strategi coping yang dilakukan oleh partisipan dalam menghadapi ketakutan adalah dengan model problem focused coping, yakni dengan berusaha mengidentifikasi hambatan dan menentukan langkah-langkah konkret untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, meskipun pada akhirnya keputusannya adalah tetap menolak peluang kenaikan jabatan. Penelitian ini tidak hanya berhasil mengidentifikasi faktor yang mempengaruhi fear of success pada guru wanita tetapi juga memberikan pandangan strategis untuk mengatasi tantangan psikologis dan sosial yang dihadapi oleh guru wanita dalam mencapai keseimbangan antara karir dan kehidupan pribadinya.

Abstract

In the hospitality industry, English communication skills are essential in providing quality services, especially for interactions with international guests. However, many employees need help mastering vocabulary and speaking fluency, especially in work tasks such as reservations and room service. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of task-based language teaching (TBLT) in improving the communication skills of hotel employees and identify obstacles and solutions to its implementation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a 20 Grand Duta Syariah Palembang hotel employees' case study. The results showed a significant improvement in vocabulary and speaking skills and a positive response to the relevance of the TBLT method. Simulation-based strategies and gradual training overcame obstacles in task design and technology application. This research offers a new approach to developing language training in the hospitality industry by integrating authentic tasks into training. In conclusion, TBLT is practical and applicable to professional training needs.

Abstract

The goal of education is to develop the potential of students who can later become democratic and responsible citizens. In developing the potential of students, teachers require flexibility in terms of learning development, teachers need to adapt the learning carried out to the characteristics of students in order to facilitate the potential of each student. The Independent Curriculum provides freedom for schools to innovate, in line with Ki Hadjar Dewantara's idea of education that liberates the body and soul. This study aims to analyze the role of teachers in the successful implementation of the Independent Curriculum based on Ki Hadjar Dewantara's concept. The study uses a descriptive qualitative method through literature study with the steps of selecting, searching, reading, recording, and presenting library sources. In addition, the role of teachers who reflect the Trilogy of Ki Hadjar Dewantara, namely Ing Ngarso Sung Tulodo, Ing Madya Mangun Karso and Tut Wuru Handayani also determine the success of the implementation of the independent curriculum. The end result is that, besides being the spearhead of education, educators must teach and educate students like parents who provide examples, build intentions, and motivate students so that the learning created prepares students to become cultured, character-based, creative, and adaptable individuals. Future research is expected to be able to conduct research using different methods to strengthen the results of previous research.

Abstract

The animated film The Journey is the result of a collaboration between Japan and Saudi Arabia which raises the theme of Islamic history, especially the struggle of the people of Mecca in defending the Kaaba from attacks by Abraha troops. This research aims to analyze the representation of culture and social issues in the film using a semiotic approach. This study examines how this film depicts the combination of Arab and Japanese culture and conveys the values ​​of the struggle through symbols, indices and icons in its visual narrative. The research results show that this film represents Arab culture through costumes, historical settings and strong Islamic values, while its visual and cinematic elements reflect the influence of Japanese animation. Apart from that, the social issues in this film highlight aspects of Islamic preaching, including the values ​​of aqidah, shari’ah and morals which are displayed in the struggle of the main character, Aws Bin Jubair. The values ​​of struggle depicted in this film include courage, sacrifice, unity and faith which are the main pillars in facing great challenges. Thus, the film The Journey not only functions as entertainment but also as a medium for preaching and education that can provide insight into Islamic history and inspire the values ​​of struggle in modern life.

Abstract

Critical thinking is a key component of student competency profiles, yet research indicates that students’ critical thinking skills remain underdeveloped. This study aims to explore and describe the effect of combining Problem-Based Learning (PBL) with Flipped Learning (FL) on optimizing students' critical thinking abilities. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted using the PRISMA protocol. Through a structured search strategy, 200 articles published between 2021 and 2025 were identified, from which 22 were selected based on their relevance to the research topic. The highest number of studies on the combination of PBL and FL appeared in 2023 across various educational levels, except early childhood education. Most of the research focused on the influence of this model on students’ critical thinking skills in science and mathematics subjects. The findings indicate that the implementation of PBL combined with FL positively influences students’ critical thinking skills from primary to higher education, especially in exact disciplines. However, its application in non-exact disciplines remains limited, indicating opportunities for future research to explore the potential of this combined model across a wider range of subject areas.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach compared to traditional learning methods in improving elementary school students' ability to solve math problems, by considering differences in learning styles (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic). This study used a pseudo-experimental method with a posttest-only control group design. The subjects consisted of two groups of grade VI students who each received different treatments, namely learning with the RME approach and conventional learning. Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA to identify the effect of each variable, namely the type of learning approach, type of learning style, as well as the interaction between them on mathematics learning outcomes. The results of the analysis showed that the RME approach was significantly superior in improving students' math solving ability compared to the conventional approach. In addition, a significant effect of learning styles was found, where students with visual and kinesthetic learning styles showed higher achievement than students with auditory learning styles. The interaction between learning approach and learning style was also found to be significant on students' math problem solving ability. These findings underscore the importance of applying contextual learning approaches that are aligned with students' learning characteristics to improve the quality of mathematics learning at the primary school level.

Abstract

Teacher competence and teacher motivation in teaching greatly influence student learning outcomes. Looking at the average student learning outcomes (Regional Education Standards Assessment) in 2024, grade IX junior high school students in Sanden District, Bantul, DIY are very diverse. Not a few schools are able to maintain school quality by preparing their students to get maximum scores at the end of each semester. Especially grade IX junior high school students who face ASPD. Many of the students do not care about the ASPD results at the junior high school level because they think the junior high school level is not as important as the Final School Exam at the high school level later. The purpose of this study is to determine the professional competence of teachers, pedagogical competence and teacher motivation on the learning outcomes of junior high school students in Sanden District, Bantul Regency, DIY. This type of research is ex-post facto with a quantitative approach. The population of this study was 136 junior high school teachers in Sanden District, Bantul Regency, DIY. The determination of the research sample of 101 used the Slovin formula. The instrument validity test used the Pearson Product Moment correlation. The instrument reliability test used the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient. The results of this study indicate that the professional competence, pedagogical competence and work motivation of teachers in junior high schools in Sanden District, Bantul, DIY are in the good category.

Abstract

German listening skills (Hörverstehen) remain a major challenge due to limited authentic media and low student motivation. Students find it difficult to understand native German speakers, recognize words in context, and grasp global meaning in conversations. This article aims to examine the process of creating an AI-based HörBox, its application in immersive learning, and its impact on improving student learning outcomes and character. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach supported by a literature review, through the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. HörBox was developed using TTS technology, Audacity, and Thunkable, then implemented through a process of experiencing, exploring, reasoning, creating, and reflecting. The implementation results show an increase in Hörverstehen understanding, communication courage, learning independence, and critical and collaborative character. It is concluded that HörBox is effective in creating adaptive, interactive, and student-centered learning. In the future, HörBox has the potential to be developed with a variety of themes, integrated learning analytics, and long-term use to support fluent oral communication in real-world contexts.

Abstract

The TERANG approach (Tentukan tujuan/Determine goals, Eksplorasi kondisi/Explore conditions, Rancang pilihan/Design options, Ambil keputusan/Take action, Nilai dan refleksikan/Evaluate and reflect, Gerakkan perubahan/Mobilize change) represents an innovative best practice in mentoring pre-service peacher professional pducation (PPG Prajabatan) students, specifically aimed at strengthening their professional competence as future educators. This initiative was motivated by the finding that students often remain passive and struggle with data interpretation in statistics learning. The primary objective of this action research was to enhance the PPG students' reflective skills while simultaneously improving the quality of student learning through the application of project-based learning utilizing real-world data. This study employs a collaborative reflective action approach between the mentoring teacher and the PPG students, systematically executed through the six TERANG stages. The findings reveal that the initial stages, Determine Goals and Explore Conditions, were effective in cultivating the students' reflective awareness regarding the necessity of contextual and meaningful learning. The Design Options and Take Action stages successfully generated data literacy project designs which significantly increased student engagement, fostered critical thinking skills, and developed a sense of learning responsibility. The Evaluate and Reflect stage documented a 15% increase in students' data interpretation ability, coupled with markedly higher enthusiasm in group activities. Despite this progress, a weakness was identified in students' verbal communication skills, indicating a need for targeted improvement through data presentation and debate activities. The final stage, Mobilize Change, served as a critical moment for PPG students to execute a second improvement cycle by incorporating "Data Debate" sessions and digital data visualization training. Overall, the implementation of the TERANG approach demonstrably enhanced the PPG students' autonomy, creativity, and reflective capacity. Furthermore, it successfully transformed statistics learning into a process that is more interactive, contextual, and authentically student-centered.
