Abstract

Parental divorce can influence the way teenagers recognize themselves in forming one of their developmental tasks, namely self-concept. Adolescents with different family statuses, divorced and non-divorced, may have different views and expectations regarding themselves. The aim of this research is to determine the differences in self-concept of adolescents with divorced and non-divorced parents. A total of 106 students of SMAN 7 Makassar with an age range of 14-18 years were selected using Accidental Sampling. The measuring instrument used is the self-concept scale. The hypothesis is explained using the Mann Whitney test using SPSS 16 for Windows. The results of the study showed that there was a difference between the self-concept of adolescents with divorced parents and adolescents with non-divorced parents (p=0.00 <0.05). Adolescents with divorced parents have a mean rank of 63.42 and adolescents with non-divorced parents have a mean rank of 42.58, so it is concluded that adolescents with divorced parents have high self-concept scores.

Abstract

The role of Probation Officers in the criminal justice system in Indonesia has become increasingly significant following the enactment of Law No. 11/2012 concerning the Juvenile Justice System Law, particularly in terms of guidance and supervision closely correlated with the success rate in the reintegration process of former inmates. However, based on the Prison Database System, the number of PKs in Indonesia still needs to be ideal. The ideal ratio of Probation Officers to clients handled is 9,975, but as of November 2023, only 2,851 Probation Officers positions have been filled, resulting in a deficit of 7,124 officers. This research aims to understand the urgency of appointing voluntary probation officers, analyze the practices of voluntary probation officers in other countries, and project the mechanisms for criteria, appointment procedures, task implementation, and working relationships of voluntary probation officers. The method employed is a literature review involving collecting, evaluating, and synthesizing existing knowledge from various written sources to support or provide a basis for the ongoing research. This research indicates that forming voluntary Probation Officers is an alternative solution to meet staffing needs. Additionally, the establishment of the position of voluntary Probation Officer aligns with Government Regulation No. 31/1999 regarding the Development and Guidance of Inmates, which outlines the procedures and requirements for the establishment of voluntary Probation Officers. In practice, voluntary Probation Officers, also known globally as Volunteer Probation Officers (VPO), in Japan have been deemed successful due to their financial efficiency and service effectiveness. In conclusion, establishing voluntary Probation Officers is an alternative solution that the Ministry of Law and Human Rights should promptly realize. Moreover, the successful practices of voluntary probation officers in various countries, including Japan, can guide the design of policies that encompass criteria, procedures, rights, and responsibilities.

Abstract

The emergence of the murder case of Brigadier Nofriansyah Joshua Hutabarat or Brigadier J exposed the mafia in the National Police Agency whose name was Inspector General Ferdy Sambo as the main perpetrator. This condition stems from the key witness Bar Richard Eliezer Pudihang Lumiu or Bharada E who uncovered all these cases and other names. This became a big problem for Bharada E because of the threat to his security as a key witness in the murder incident. It is important to carry out this research in order to determine the legal protection of key witnesses in uncovering the case of Brigadier J's murder. The research method used is a case study and normative juridical. The result of the analysis is that legal protection for key witnesses must be carried out by the state. The Witness and CVictim Protection Agency (LPSK) provides special protection to key witnesses in maintaining the security of themselves, their families and those who are close to key witnesses. The conclusion is the key that must be protected in dismantling and maintaining the safety of himself and his family.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a risk assessment tool for sexual violence recidivism in incarcerated individuals in Indonesia, considering both static and dynamic factors. Data analysis showed a strong positive correlation between recidivism and "Prior Sexual Offenses" (0.554) and the total static factor score (0.251). The frequency of sexual violence also moderately correlated with recidivism (0.232). Certain static factors had better predictive capabilities for identifying recidivism, while others showed lower predictive power. Regarding dynamic factors, the study found strong positive correlations with deviant sexual lifestyle (0.741) and sexual compulsivity (0.676), and weaker correlations with Interpersonal Aggression (0.505) and attitude towards criminal behavior (0.286). The total static and dynamic factor scores had a significantly positive and strong correlation (0.872), highlighting their importance in predicting recidivism. The AUC analysis indicated good predictive capabilities for recidivism in certain dynamic factors like interpersonal aggression and emotional self-control, while others had lower predictive abilities. Overall, the combined total score of static and dynamic factors yielded higher predictive capabilities (AUC=0.783). This research contributes to the development of an accurate risk assessment tool for sexual violence recidivism, aiding in identifying high-risk offenders and designing effective rehabilitation programs to prevent future recidivism.

Abstract

Fear of negative evaluation refers to the fear experienced by individuals, stemming from concerns that others may perceive or judge them negatively. One influential factor affecting this fear is self-esteem. This research aims to determine the impact of self-esteem on students' fear of negative evaluation. This research uses ordinal regression analysis techniques. The respondents for this study consisted of 304 students selected through accidental sampling techniques. The research findings reveal a significant negative correlation between self-esteem and fear of negative evaluation in students (r = -9,572, p = 0.00 < 0.05), indicating that higher self-esteem scores are associated with lower levels of fear of negative evaluation among students. Future researchers are encouraged to explore the correlation between fear of negative evaluation and other variables to identify additional factors that may have a more substantial impact on fear of negative evaluation. Additionally, employing alternative methods such as experimental approaches could provide direct insights into the implications of enhancing self-esteem in reducing fear of negative evaluation. The implication of this research is an understanding of the need for students to increase their self-esteem and overcome the fear of negative evaluation so that they can better achieve their academic and social potential.

Abstract

Divorce cases that occur in Indonesia continue to increase every year. This divorce not only has an impact on husband and wife, but there are people who are more affected, namely children. Children who are victims of divorce are often labeled as children from broken homes. Children who often witness their parents arguing, are neglected, receive less love and protection can have an impact on the emergence of emotional wounds which give rise to inner child trauma which, if not addressed immediately, will have an impact on the child's condition as an adult. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of art therapy in reducing inner child trauma in broken home teenagers. The method used is art therapy. Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as a medium for catharsis, emotional ventilation, getting to know oneself better through art media, being able to express oneself and explore life patterns effectively. Participants in this research were 3 teenagers who experienced a broken home. This intervention consists of 10 sessions. The results of this research show that the Z value obtained is -2.041 with a p-value (Asymp. Sig 2 tailed) of 0.041 < 0.05. So it can be interpreted that the alternative hypothesis (H1) states that there is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest groups. The conclusion in this research is that trauma to an individual's inner child can have a long-term impact so that treatment is needed, in this case the researcher used the Art Therapy method as an effort to reduce inner child trauma in broken home teenagers.

Abstract

Bullying is one of the problems among freshmen who often lack direct, honest, and assertive self-expression to defend personal rights in expressing feelings, also called assertive behavior. This study aims to look at the relationship between assertive behavior and the tendency to be the object of bullying in freshmen. This study uses a quantitative approach with descriptive analysis methods, hypothesis testing (spearman's rho), and t-test (mann-whitney). The subjects of this study were 320 new students of the Faculty of Engineering, Makassar State University. The results showed that there is a relationship between assertive behavior and the tendency to be the object of bullying in new students (p = 0.000, r = 0.312). This means that the higher the assertive behavior, the lower the tendency to be the object of bullying in new students and vice versa. The results of additional analysis show that there are no differences in assertive behavior, however, there are differences in the tendency to be the object of bullying based on gender. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between assertive behavior and the tendency to be the object of bullying in freshmen with a moderate correlation.

Abstract

Self-control is an individual's ability to process negative stimuli encountered in life, where self-compassion can relieve negative consequences that are present from unpleasant events. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-compassion and self-control in residents of Majene Class IIB Detention Center. This study used a correlational quantitative approach. The research respondents were 117 residents of Class II B Majene Detention Center using total sampling technique. The results showed a strong positive relationship and between self-compassion and self-control in residents of Class II B Majene Detention Center (R = 0.645; p = 0.000 <0.05) indicating that the higher the self-compassion score, the higher the self-control in detainees and correctional inmates in detention centers. T-tests in this study showed differences in self-compassion and self-control scores based on education level, and differences in self-control scores based on length of sentence in detention center residents. This study suggests that institutions that provide correctional services should implement self-compassion training as a practice in improving the self-control of detainees and prisoners.
