Abstract

This study was motivated by the need to strengthen Islamic character education among madrasah students, especially amid the challenges of globalization that often weaken the moral values of adolescents. The objectives of this study are (1) to analyze the principles of behaviorism in strengthening Islamic character at MTs PAB VI Helvetia; (2) to identify the forms of reinforcement used by teachers; and (3) to analyze their effectiveness. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study method, through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the application of behaviorism principles has proven effective in shaping students' Islamic character. Stimulus-response practices are manifested in teachers' role modeling and religious habits, reinforcement is applied in the form of praise and educational reprimands, while conditioning is evident through religious routines and Islamic social interactions. The study's conclusions emphasize the importance of consistency, teacher modeling, and family support. The implications of this research are the need for synergy between schools, families, and communities in strengthening the continuous development of noble character among students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the forms and factors that influence the resilience of children growing up in single-parent families in Tanjung Alam Village, Asahan Regency. Resilience is understood as the ability of individuals, in this case children, to survive, rise, and adapt positively despite facing pressure or life difficulties, such as the condition of an intact family. This research approach is qualitative with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation of several children from single-parent families as well as related parties such as parents and community leaders. The results show that children's resilience is formed through a combination of internal factors such as self-confidence, motivation, and hope for the future, as well as external factors such as emotional support from parents, social involvement, and a supportive school environment. Despite facing economic deprivation and psychological burdens, most children demonstrated good adaptive skills. This finding confirms the important role of the environment in supporting children's psychological resilience in non-ideal family conditions.

Abstract

This research departs from the challenges of modernization that increasingly affect the moral and spiritual values of the younger generation, including in the context of Islamic education. Many young people experience an identity crisis and moral decline due to the influence of globalization and social media. The purpose of this study is to examine the relevance of the tahfidz al-Qur'an program in shaping the Qur'anic morals of students at the Sulaimaniyah Islamic Boarding School in Medan, as a response to these challenges. The method used is descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that the tahfidz program in this pesantren is effective in shaping Qur'anic morals through strategies that include exemplary ustaz, character-based assessment, habituation to worship, and strengthening the values of piety and istiqamah. However, challenges arise both from internal factors, such as the pressure of memorization targets, and external, in the form of the influence of modernization and technology. The implication of this study is the importance of a comprehensive approach in the management of tahfidz program, focusing on character development, moral resilience, and wise use of technology in supporting tahfidz education.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the challenges in integrating science and religious literacy in vocational high school. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of Islamic values-based Project-Based Learning (PBL) model to improve science and religious literacy at Al Karomah Berastagi Private Vocational School. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The results showed that the implementation of PBL was carried out systematically through planning, implementation, reflection, and presentation, with the integration of Islamic values in each stage. This implementation improved students' mastery of scientific concepts, critical thinking skills, and the application of science in daily life. Students' religious literacy also develops through the understanding of Qur'anic verses relevant to science, as well as the internalization of spiritual values and religious practices. The role of teachers, school support, and the involvement of the social environment are important factors in the success of this model. Although there are obstacles, cross-subject collaboration strategies can be an effective solution. The implication of this research shows that Islamic values-based PBL can be an effective model for integrating science and religious literacy and promoting holistic learning in schools.

Abstract

he moral crisis of the younger generation characterized by a decline in discipline, responsibility, and social care is a serious challenge for Islamic educational institutions to restore the role of education as a character builder. This study aims to describe the strategy of strengthening religious values through tahfidz Al-Qur'an activities at the Ar-Roja Bina Insani Foundation in Kisaran, North Sumatra. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with phenomenological methods, through interviews, observations, and documentation of foundation leaders, tahfidz ustaz, students, and parents. The results showed five main strategies implemented: integration of memorization and understanding of verses, exemplary teachers in behavior, habituation of daily worship, active involvement of parents, and creation of a conducive religious environment. These strategies proved effective in fostering discipline, patience, honesty, and responsibility of the students. This research confirms that the Qur'an tahfidz program is not just an effort to memorize, but a comprehensive Islamic character building medium. The implication is that the tahfidz program can be used as a model of religious character education that is adaptive and relevant in answering the moral challenges of modern society.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji konsep pendidikan holistik dalam pemikiran Imam Al-Ghazali dengan menekankan integrasi akal, ruh, dan etika sebagai pilar utama dalam pembentukan manusia paripurna (insan kamil). Metode yang digunakan adalah studi kepustakaan melalui analisis kritis terhadap karya-karya Al-Ghazali, khususnya Ihya’ Ulum al-Din. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa akal dipandang sebagai instrumen untuk memperoleh pengetahuan dan membedakan kebenaran dari kesalahan, namun ia tidak cukup bila tidak diarahkan oleh nilai-nilai ruhani. Dimensi ruh berfungsi sebagai penghubung manusia dengan Tuhan, sehingga ilmu tidak hanya bersifat kognitif tetapi memiliki makna transendental. Sementara itu, etika merupakan tujuan akhir pendidikan, yaitu terwujudnya ilmu dalam perilaku dan akhlak mulia. Ketiga aspek tersebut saling berkelindan membentuk proses pendidikan yang utuh dan seimbang. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa gagasan Al-Ghazali relevan dengan tantangan pendidikan modern, terutama dalam menyeimbangkan kecerdasan intelektual, kedalaman spiritual, dan kematangan moral. Dengan demikian, pendidikan tidak hanya menghasilkan individu berprestasi akademik, tetapi juga pribadi yang beriman, berakhlak, dan bermanfaat bagi dirinya, masyarakat, serta Tuhannya.

Abstract

The role of teachers in fostering the practice of Islamic teachings is very important, because it not only teaches religious theory, but also directs students to practice Islamic values in everyday life. This study aims to examine the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers in fostering the practice of Islamic teachings in students at SDN 2 Jingah, North Barito Regency. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that: 1) Islamic Religious Education teachers play an important role in fostering the practice of Islamic teachings with an integrative approach, which includes teaching religious theory, worship practices, and instilling moral values such as honesty and discipline. Teachers guide students to understand and practice Islamic teachings through habituation methods and effective interactive learning. 2) Supporting factors include adequate facilities, a supportive school environment, and parental involvement. However, inhibiting factors such as limited facilities, time, and lack of teacher professionalism were also found.

Abstract

Social and religious diversity in Indonesia, especially in rural areas, challenges adolescents' religious identity formation. Teenagers in Tanjung Alam Village, Asahan Regency, live between local religious traditions and the influence of social media and global religious information. This study aims to understand the role of moderate Islamic education as a space for negotiating adolescents' religious identity in Tanjung Alam Village, Asahan Regency. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, this research explores the experiences of adolescents who live in the midst of local religious traditions and the influence of social media. The results show that moderate Islamic education functions as a dialogical space that allows adolescents to interpret religious values reflectively and contextually. Teenagers learn to balance religious teachings with their social lives, and understand local traditions as part of spirituality that is in line with Islamic teachings. The implication of this research is the need to develop moderate Islamic education as a model of youth character development in Islamic educational institutions. Empathetic, open and critical education needs to be integrated in the curriculum to form a young generation that is religious, tolerant and adaptive to social change without losing their Islamic roots.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of a love-based curriculum in developing the character of santri at Pondok Pesantren Modern Darul Ulum Al-Muhajirin, Langkat Regency. This curriculum integrates five main values, namely love for Allah, the Messenger of Allah, knowledge, fellow humans, and the homeland, which are applied in various aspects of pesantren life. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach with a case study design, which involves in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The results showed that the love-based curriculum succeeded in shaping the character of better santri, with improvements in discipline, empathy, social responsibility, and love for knowledge and the homeland. Although the implementation of this curriculum shows positive results, the main challenge faced is the influence of globalization and technology that often conflicts with pesantren values. Overall, the love-based curriculum at Pondok Pesantren Modern Darul Ulum Al-Muhajirin can be an effective model in developing the character of students, who are not only academically intelligent, but also have noble character and care for others and the homeland.

Abstract

This research departs from the challenges of modernization that affect the moral and spiritual values of the younger generation, including in the context of Islamic education. Pesantren, as educational institutions that have an important role in shaping the character of santri, face the need to become economically independent so as not to depend on government assistance. The purpose of this study is to analyze the model of pesantren economic independence through the management of pesantren cooperatives, as well as how these cooperatives can support the economic empowerment of pesantren and the surrounding community. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection methods through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that Al-Abraar Islamic Boarding School succeeded in developing several effective cooperative business units, such as oil palm plantations and animal husbandry, to support its economic independence. On the other hand, Musthafawiyah Islamic Boarding School faces obstacles in cooperative management due to limited licensing and management quality. The implication of this study is the importance of strengthening the managerial capacity and governance of cooperatives to achieve sustainable economic independence of pesantren.
