Abstract

This study investigates the declining interest of the younger generation in agricultural careers, despite agriculture’s vital role in national economic growth and food security. Generation Z, living in the digital era, tends to prefer technology-oriented fields rather than conventional agriculture. Therefore, this research examines the influence of audio-visual animated video media as an innovation in agricultural learning to increase students’ interest and learning outcomes. The study was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Beringin, Deli Serdang Regency, which has strong potential to develop technology-based education but has not yet implemented direct agricultural learning. Using a Quasi-Experimental Design with a Nonequivalent Control Group model, the research involved 60 twelfth-grade students divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected through pretests, posttests, and questionnaires, and analyzed using SPSS through validity, reliability, normality, and homogeneity tests, followed by simple linear regression, t-tests, and F-tests. The results show that the use of aeroponic agriculture audio-visual animated video media has a significant influence on increasing students’ interest and learning outcomes compared to conventional methods. The integration of visual and animated elements enhances engagement, clarifies complex agricultural concepts, and provides more interactive and contextual learning experiences. Overall, this study concludes that the use of audio-visual animated video media not only improves learning performance but also strengthens the image of agriculture as a modern, innovative, and technology-based field, supporting the regeneration of future farmers in the digital era. Abstract

This study analyzes rice price governance in Indonesia during the administrations of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (2004–2014) and Joko Widodo (2014–2024) using a mixed-methods approach that integrates panel data analysis, asymmetric price transmission testing, and comparative policy mapping. The research findings indicate differences in policy orientations: Yudhoyono emphasized producer price protection and import restrictions, which preserved the Farmer's Exchange Rate but increased vulnerability to supply shocks, while Widodo prioritized market integration and import flexibility, which dampened short-term volatility but weakened price incentives at the farmer level. The study also identified asymmetric price transmission—domestic prices respond more quickly to global price increases than decreases—and widening marketing margins. The proposed integrative policy package includes adaptive price corridors, rule-based buffer stocks, targeted subsidies, post-harvest efficiency, inter-regional logistics improvements, phased-diversified import strategies, and real-time data dashboards. This approach is deemed capable of improving policy timeliness, enhancing supply chain efficiency, and balancing price stability with farmer welfare.

Abstract

Wuluhan District, Jember Regency, is one of the regions with strong agricultural potential, particularly in rice production. However, in recent years, farmers in this area have faced various challenges, including declining soil fertility, increasing production costs, and climate change. One of the efforts to improve soil fertility and reduce production expenses is the use of organic fertilizers. Another ongoing issue concerns the supply and distribution of fertilizers, which has yet to be fully resolved. One of the fertilizers currently being developed by a local farmer in Wuluhan District is Ireng-Ireng fertilizer. Therefore, this study aims to identify the factors that influence farmers’ responses to the use of Ireng-Ireng fertilizer in rice cultivation in Wuluhan District. An ordinal regression approach using the Polytomous Universal Model (PLUM) was applied to assess the effects of internal and external farmer-related variables on response levels categorized as low, medium, and high. The findings indicate that the regression model is statistically valid and meets all required assumptions. Three variables—land size, income, and farming experience—significantly affect farmers’ response levels, while age, formal education, non-formal education, perceived speed of results, and perceived costs show no significant effects. Overall, farmers exhibit a positive response toward the use of Ireng-Ireng fertilizer in terms of knowledge, attitude, and actual use. These results highlight that farmers’ internal capacities play a crucial role in the adoption of local organic fertilizers, which hold strong potential to support sustainable rice farming.

Abstract

Cooking oil is one of the nine essential food commodities in Indonesia, whose availability and demand significantly influence fluctuations in both national and regional food prices. This study examines the development trends of cooking oil, analyzing its price volatility, risk levels, and structural changes (structural breaks) across four market levels in Jambi Province. A descriptivequantitative approach was employed, utilizing trend analysis, the coefficient of variation, and structural break tests based on daily data from the Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS) covering the period from January 1, 2020, to December 27, 2024. Jambi Province was chosen as the study location because it is one of the main producers of crude palm oil (CPO)— the primary raw material for cooking oil—yet it continues to experience price volatility and periodic shortages of cooking oil. The results indicate that cooking oil prices fluctuated during the study period, with an overall upward trend. The coefficient of variation at the producer level was relatively higher compared to wholesalers, modern retailers, and traditional markets. Risk analysis further revealed that producers face higher price fluctuations, as they tend to act as price takers, with prices largely determined by market conditions and government interventions. Moreover, a structural break was observed at the wholesale market level on May 10, 2024. These findings highlight the critical role of government intervention in maintaining the stability of national cooking oil prices.

Abstract

Abstract Organic farming is one approach to achieving sustainable agricultural development and solving environmental problems. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence farmers intentions to adopt organic farming in Lima Puluh Kota Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The location was selected using purposive sampling with the criteria of farmer group members who have obtained organic certification from the West Sumatra Organic Certification Agency (LSO). The sampling technique was conducted using a census, where the entire population became the research sample, consisting of 60 farmers. The research data was sourced from structured interviews using questionnaires, data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), and from previous relevant research. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression analysis using SPPS 27 software. The results of the study show that of the three variables studied, there are two variables that influence the intention to adopt organic farming in Lima Puluh Kota Regency, namely attitude (0.670) and behavioral control (0.261), while subjective norms (0.096) do not influence the intention to adopt organic farming. Strategies to increase farmers intention to adopt organic farming should focus on improving positive attitudes and perceptions of behavioral control among farmers through education, training, and technical empowerment rather than relying solely on social influence or pressure from surrounding norms

Abstract

The Smallholder Oil Palm Rejuvenation Program (PSR) is a national program that aims to increase the productivity of smallholder palm oil plantations by replanting old and unproductive trees to make them more sustainable and of higher quality. This research aimed to determine effectiveness of the PSR program in Silangkitang District, South Labuhanbatu Regency, through an approach that assesses the suitability of program implementation based on PSR regulations and evaluates the PSR program using the CIPP evaluation model. The research was conducted from September to November 2025. This research is quantitative descriptive with qualitative analysis. Data collection techniques used interviews and questionnaires. The research respondents were selected using random sampling, namely 51 farmers who had participated in the PSR program during the 2019-2025 period. The results of the reseacrh show that the implementation of PSR has not reached the target of 200 ha/year. The realization of rejuvenation is still hampered by farmer administration, land legality issues, the length of the technical recommendation issuance process, and farmers' concerns about losing income while the plants are not yet producing. The implementation of the PSR program still has discrepancies, especially in the plant maintenance stage, such as fertilization and pest control. The dissemination of the PSR program, ongoing guidance and monitoring for farmers by Food Security and Agriculture Agency of South Labuhanbatu District are also not yet optimal. Evaluation effectiveness of the PSR program through the CIPP evaluation model shows that it is effective. However, there are still several aspects of each CIPP component that need to be evaluated further, especially the input aspect, and follow-up is needed to improve implementation of the PSR program so that the program objectives can be achieved optimally.

Abstract

Community Food Barns (Lumbung Pangan Masyarakat or LPM) serve as a vital instrument in maintaining national food reserve stability; however, multidimensional evaluations of their sustainability are often overlooked. This study aims to evaluate the sustainability status and development strategies of LPM in Pidie Regency, Aceh. The unit of analysis involved 150 LPM member farmers selected via simple random sampling. A Multi-Dimensional Scaling (MDS) approach using Rapfish was employed to assess sustainability ordination across ecological, economic, and social dimension indicators. The analysis indicates that LPM falls under the "moderately sustainable" category in aggregate. Social and ecological dimensions dominate, whereas the economic dimension exhibits the lowest index (54.03–57.20%). Key leverage factors include land quality, market access, and compliance with environmental regulations. This study contributes theoretically by adapting the MDS model to measure the resilience of agrarian community-based food institutions. Practical implications emphasize the necessity of economic business diversification and managerial strengthening to ensure adaptive regional food self-sufficiency.

Abstract

The agricultural sector plays a strategic role in the Indonesian economy, including in South Kalimantan, but its contribution to the Regional Gross Domestic Product (GRDP) varies unevenly across regions. This study aims to analyze the determinants of the agricultural sector GRDP in South Kalimantan both globally and spatially. Using panel data from 13 regencies/cities for the period 2020–2024, the analysis was conducted using two approaches is global panel regression and Geographically Weighted Panel Regression (GWPR). The results show that the GWPR model is significantly superior in capturing spatial heterogeneity compared to the global model, with a Cross Validation (CV) value of 0.0425 and R² of 0.7042. At the local level, the GWPR model was able to explain up to 86.76% of the variation in Tabalong Regency. Globally, plantation area, capital expenditure (lag 1), and the mining sector's contribution significantly affect agricultural GRDP. However, GWPR estimates reveal substantial spatial variation, the coefficient of plantation area ranges from 0.036 to 0.233 (highest in Tabalong), capital expenditure from 0.019 to 0.050, while the mining sector's contribution shows a consistently negative effect (–0.035 to –0.006), with the strongest impact in mining-intensive areas. These findings confirm the necessity of differentiated policy approaches tailored to the local characteristics of each region.
