Abstract

The issue of clean water availability remains a significant challenge in rural areas, including Teluklada Village, Sobang District, Pandeglang Regency, where most residents rely on traditional water sources of poor quality. The water used by the community often has an unpleasant odor, turbidity, coarse particles, and mosquito larvae. The Community Service Program (KKM) 51 of Universitas Bina Bangsa, conducted from July 15 to August 7, 2025, aimed to implement biofilter technology as an appropriate solution to address this problem. This study is an applied research with a descriptive approach, utilizing direct observation, in-depth interviews, and brainstorming sessions with local residents and village officials. The implementation stages included site surveys, procurement of tools and materials, assembly, testing, and a result seminar. The biofilter employed natural filtration media consisting of activated carbon, silica sand, and coconut fiber, arranged vertically inside PVC pipes using a lateral-inlet-upflow system. The trial conducted at the KKM Post in Kampung Sadar RT 02/RW 02 showed a significant improvement in water quality: clearer appearance, reduced odor, absence of particles and larvae, and suitability for non-consumption purposes. Community response was highly positive, with requests for replication in other areas. However, limitations include the absence of laboratory testing for chemical and microbiological parameters and no trials on saline water sources. In conclusion, the biofilter technology proved to be effective, easy to construct, cost-efficient, and operable by the community independently, making it a potential model for sustainable clean water provision in rural areas.

Abstract

Worm infections caused by intestinal nematodes are a global health problem, including in Indonesia. Preschool and school children are the most vulnerable groups to infection. Although not fatal, worm infections can lead to chronic infections and various health problems, such as low body weight, anemia, and decreased academic performance. Therefore, education about prevention and treatment, as well as food and environmental sanitation and hygiene, is crucial. The objective of this activity was to educate participants about worm infections and good sanitation and hygiene practices. Increasing knowledge about worm infections was achieved through providing counseling on prevention and treatment methods, as well as the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness. The results of the education showed a significant increase in knowledge, as demonstrated by improved post-test results, which is expected to have an impact on reducing cases of worm infections.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance elementary school teachers' capacity in developing and implementing culturally based children's stories as literacy media in the classroom. The background of this activity lies in the lack of contextual reading materials relevant to students’ cultural environment, particularly in IV Koto District, Agam Regency. The method consisted of training sessions, story development workshops, classroom implementation, and evaluation. Results showed a significant improvement in teachers’ ability to write and integrate local stories into thematic learning, alongside increased student enthusiasm for Minangkabau cultural narratives. The project produced 60 local children’s stories and integrated lesson plans. This program demonstrates that local-culture-based literacy strengthens students’ cultural identity and supports meaningful learning. The approach is recommended for replication in other regions with rich cultural heritage.

Abstract

Based on Government Regulation No. 74 of 2008, the main duties of teachers include teaching, guiding, directing, training, assessing, and evaluating students. One AI platform that can be utilized by teachers and students for assessment is Quizlet. Quizlet is an Artificial Intelligence tool designed to help teachers save time in preparing materials and quizzes as objective, effective, and interactive assessment tools. Problem analysis shows that SDN 3 Panjerejo rarely participates in training, even though its technological infrastructure is adequate. This community service aims to (1) conduct training on creating assessments using Quizlet, (2) provide information about AI platforms that support teachers in the learning process, and (3) improve teachers’ competence in using Quizlet effectively. The method includes preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. Results show that 98% of respondents found the training very useful, improving teachers’ skills and making assessment creation easier.

Abstract

The Student Field Work–Community Service (KKM–PKM) program at GKKB Mempawah Church aims to improve the church's service capacity through training, congregation management, and service digitalization. The problems faced include a lack of worship service regeneration, the absence of an integrated data system, and low utilization of digital media. To address these issues, the team designed three programs: From Congregation to Minister (vocal, music, and leadership training), GKKB Mempawah Organized (digital congregation database), and GKKB Connected (social media and landing page). The results include the formation of a new ministry team, a well-organized database, and improved digital connectivity as a model for university-church collaboration.

Abstract

The government has established a comprehensive labor protection system as a result of the decline in workers' income levels. The aim of this effort is to ensure that workers' fundamental rights are fulfilled and that adequate welfare is provided for workers and their families, while taking into account the evolution of the investment and business industries. To understand the impact of the minimum wage on the welfare of informal workers in Karawang Regency, this study uses a mixed-method approach that combines quantitative and qualitative methods. According to path analysis, there is a path coefficient of 0.31 (p 0.05), which indicates that there is an indirect influence from other variables, such as macroeconomic stability, the effectiveness of social protection programs, and the demographic characteristics of informal workers. However, the results of the study on the adaptation strategies of informal workers and the effectiveness of social protection programs in Karawang Regency show a structural gap between labor policy designs that focus on the formal sector and the real conditions of informal workers, especially those with fluctuating incomes and high mobility.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of the local community, particularly elementary school students and teachers, in recognizing and processing purple sweet potatoes as a nutritious and economically valuable local food ingredient. Purple sweet potatoes were introduced as a superfood due to their rich nutritional content, including anthocyanins, vitamin C, and dietary fiber, which offer various health benefits. Through a series of educational sessions and hands-on demonstrations on how to make purple sweet potato pudding, participants were provided with knowledge about its nutritional benefits, food processing techniques, and basic marketing strategies. The results of the program showed an increase in participant enthusiasm and understanding regarding the diversification of local food products. In addition to producing a healthy and appealing pudding product, the activity also encouraged the use of local food resources as a potential home-based business. It is expected that this initiative will inspire continuous development of food innovation based on local ingredients and contribute to improving the community's economic well-being in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Kotagede, as a heritage district rich in historical value, is experiencing ongoing gentrification due to changes in ownership, building functions, and tourism development. One strategic area within this district is Between Two Gates, which holds architectural and social potential as a community-based special interest tourism destination. This community service project focuses on redesigning the long-abandoned Rumah R09 into a homestay through an adaptive reuse approach, aiming to preserve cultural heritage while improving local welfare. The methods include field observation, traditional architectural analysis, spatial needs assessment, and context-sensitive design planning. The result is a homestay concept that retains traditional values, supports communal activities, and serves as a participatory strategy to address gentrification in heritage areas.
