Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of coloring activities using gradient techniques on the creativity of Group B children at KH Dewantoro Pembina State Kindergarten, Gorontalo Indonesia. An experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design was employed. The study population consisted of Group B children at the Kindergarten, and a sample of 17 children from Group B3 was selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using observation, documentation, and performance tests. The instrument used to measure children’s creativity comprised five indicators: fluency, flexibility, elaboration, persistence, and originality. Data were analyzed using a paired-sample t-test. The results revealed that coloring activities using gradient techniques significantly enhanced children’s creativity, as indicated by an increase in the mean pretest score from 39.55 to 75.73 in the posttest. Hypothesis testing using SPSS software produced a two-tailed significance value of 0.000, which is less than the 0.05 threshold. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis was accepted. It can be concluded that coloring activities employing gradient techniques are effective in improving children’s creativity.

Abstract

Childhood is a fundamental stage in the formation of individual character and social behavior, particularly regarding acceptance or rejection of diversity. Children aged 4–6 years are in a highly sensitive developmental phase where parenting styles play a central role in shaping how they perceive differences. This study aims to analyze the influence of parenting styles on the tendency toward discriminatory behavior in early childhood in Kertomulyo Village, Pati Regency. Using a qualitative approach and case study method involving four families, data were collected through online interviews and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model. The findings reveal that modern parenting styles such as positive parenting, mindful parenting, and gentle parenting when applied consistently, can foster empathy, tolerance, and acceptance of differences. Conversely, inconsistent parenting, authoritarian styles, excessive protectiveness, or lack of supervision over digital media consumption can contribute to the development of discriminatory attitudes in children. These findings underscore the crucial role of parents in instilling inclusive values and shaping children's character from an early age, as well as the need for collaboration among families, educational institutions, and communities in creating environments that support the growth of a tolerant and just generation

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of digital storybooks in promoting personal hygiene and toothbrushing among young children. This study employs the research and development (R&D) method. It follows the ADDIE development model, which includes five key stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This product was created using the Canva and Flipbook applications. The product has been assessed for suitability by media and material experts. This research also involved assessments by five teachers, and to test its effectiveness, the product was tested on five sample students at Khalifah Al-Qolam Kindergarten. Data was collected through questionnaires and observations. The data obtained was analyzed using a quantitative descriptive approach. The research results indicate that the digital storybook learning media is feasible, with a 95% approval rate from subject matter experts and an 85% approval rate from media experts. The teacher response test yielded a 68% approval rate, and the student trial test yielded a 92% approval rate, thereby confirming the product's feasibility and effectiveness for use. Thus, this digital storybook can introduce young children to personal hygiene practices, such as brushing their teeth.

Abstract

The capacity to manage emotions is a critical skill that should be cultivated from an early age, as it has a direct impact on both the mental and physical well-being of children. This research investigates the developmental process of emotional regulation in early childhood and its association with children’s health status. Conducted at TK Negeri Pembina, the study employed a qualitative descriptive approach, with data gathered through observations and interviews involving teachers and parents. The subjects in this research were 15 children in group B aged 5-6 years old with specifically 7 boys and 8 girls. To obtain comprehensive insights, the principal was interviewed to explore the school’s policies and instructional strategies aimed at fostering emotional regulation. Data collection employed three complementary methods, which are non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews, document analysis. Data analyzed by thematic analysis. The results indicate that a supportive environment, active teacher engagement, and effective parenting practices significantly enhance children’s emotional regulation abilities.

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze and integrate the Montessori approach and neuroscience in early childhood science and mathematics education with Islamic values. One of the main challenges of early childhood education in Indonesia is the low interest in science and mathematics, which are often perceived as abstract and difficult, reflected in the country’s relatively low global ranking. Neuroscience emphasizes that early childhood represents a golden age to optimize children’s potential for logical, critical, and exploratory thinking. The Montessori method, which is grounded in concrete experiences and multisensory stimulation, can help children construct abstract concepts through real-life activities (tarbiyah bil hal). Integration with Islamic values further enriches the spiritual dimension, guided by the Qur’anic encouragement for humans to yatafakkar (reflect), yatadabbar (contemplate), ta’ammul (engage in deep reflection), and yansur (observe/investigate) the order of Allah’s creation. Moreover, this approach highlights the importance of education through lived example, so that children learn not only with their intellect, but also with their hearts and behavior. This study employs a descriptive literature review by analyzing both classical and contemporary sources on Montessori, neuroscience, and Islamic education. The findings indicate that a Montessori–Neuroscience–Islam integrated model in science and mathematics education not only stimulates cognitive development, but also nurtures children’s spiritual awareness, thus offering a holistic, integrative, and contextually relevant alternative for early childhood education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study explores the role of fathers in fostering gender recognition in early childhood within the context of gender bias. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with a PRISMA-based approach, four stages were conducted: identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion. Articles were collected from Google Scholar, Science Direct, and Scispace using keywords related to fathering patterns, gender  introduction, and early childhood care. From 7,750 initial results, filtering by publication year  2022–2025, topic relevance, and inclusion criteria produced 10 core articles for analysis. The findings reveal that fathers’ roles have shifted from traditional breadwinners to multidimensional figures educators, protectors, co-parents, and role models. Active and empathetic father involvement supports flexible gender identity development through play, communication, and emotional interaction. Factors such as education, culture, working hours, and communication style influence this role. The study highlights the importance of father engagement in promoting inclusive and unbiased gender understanding from early childhood.

Abstract

ADHD is a child with difficulty maintaining attention so that they are less able to concentrate on activities, disorders that arise such as difficulty in maintaining focus, easily distracted by external stimuli, not finishing tasks, so that their concentration is easily disturbed. This study aims to determine the effect of shaping techniques on the concentration level of children with ADHD in group B1 TKIT Buah Hati Kita Jember. The subjects in this study were ADHD children with the initials A. This study used quantitative experimental research with the Single Subject Research method with an A-B-A research design. The data collection method used was observation. Researchers conducted direct observations of children at school and at home during the initial baseline, intervention and baseline 2 processes. The data analysis technique used was analysis in conditions and analysis between conditions. The results of the study showed that the application of shaping techniques had an effect and was effective in improving the concentration of children with ADHD. The improvement that occurred during the Intervention condition was able to be maintained by the child

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the interactive educational application Marbel in supporting the development of emergent literacy in early childhood. Emergent literacy refers to the early stage of reading and writing development, including letter recognition, initial sound awareness, and simple word understanding. This research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental design with a One Group Pretest–Posttest design. The participants were 15 children aged 5–6 years from Group B at TK Pertiwi. Research instruments consisted of an emergent literacy test administered before and after the intervention, as well as observation sheets used as supporting data. Data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis by comparing the mean scores of the pretest and posttest. The results showed an increase in the average emergent literacy score from 17.7 in the pretest to 25 in the posttest. These findings indicate that the use of the interactive educational application Marbel supports the stimulation of children’s emergent literacy. Observations also revealed increased focus and engagement during learning activities, which were positioned as supporting findings. Therefore, Marbel can be considered an alternative learning medium to support emergent literacy development in early childhood education.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively examine the concept of inclusive education, the role of teachers, the role of parents, and the importance of collaboration between both parties in improving the well-being of children with special needs. This research employed a literature review method with a descriptive qualitative approach by analyzing 20 relevant sources consisting of scienfitic journal articles and academic books published within the last ten years. The analysis identified several major themes, including inclusive learning strategies, parental involvement, teacher competence, communication patterns between schools and families,and the impact of collaboration on chilfren’s academic, social and emotional development. The findings indicate that inclusive education has a positive impact on the overall well-being of children with special needs when supported by effective collaboration between teachers and parents. Teachers act as facilitators who design adaptive and inclusive learning strategies, while parents provide emotional support and learning motivation. However, the literature also reveals several dominant challenges, particularly limited communication, differences in understanding regarding inclusive education and inadequate educational resources and teacher training. Therefore, continuous efforts are needed to strengthen the collaboration between schools and families in supporting the successful implementation of  inclusive education.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has significantly transformed early childhood socialization patterns, where digital media has become an integral part of children’s social environment. This study aims to examine the role of digital parenting as a primary agent of socialization in the internalization of values among early childhood in the digital era. The research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods by analyzing relevant literature from scientific journals, books, and academic documents. The findings indicate that digital technology has both positive and negative impacts on children’s development, particularly in terms of learning opportunities and risks such as reduced social interaction and emotional development challenges. The study reveals that the family, as the primary agent of socialization, plays a crucial role in guiding children’s value internalization through digital parenting practices. Digital parenting involves supervision, mediation, and active engagement in children’s digital activities, enabling the instillation of values such as responsibility, discipline, and digital ethics. The effectiveness of digital parenting is strongly influenced by parental digital literacy and communication within the family. Overall, digital parenting is not merely a form of control but a transformation of the family’s socialization function in the digital era, contributing to children’s social, emotional, and moral development.
