Abstract

This article aims to analyse the role and principles of teaching material design in modern language learning. This study uses a literature review method with critical analysis of the teaching material design theory proposed by Richards and the principles of language learning according to Tomlinson, and relates them to teaching practices in the context of Indonesian education. The study focuses on the format and function of teaching materials, the use of authentic and artificial materials, criteria for evaluating and selecting materials, context-based adaptation strategies, and principles of effective teaching material design. The results of the study show that language learning becomes more effective when teaching materials are designed through a targeted combination of structured artificial materials and contextual authentic materials, with the teacher playing a key role in the process of adapting teaching materials. These findings emphasise the importance of strengthening teachers' competencies as evaluators, adapters, and designers of teaching materials so that language learning can be relevant, contextual, and meaningful.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the concept and importance of teamwork in Islamic education from a human resource management perspective. Teamwork is considered a key factor in improving the effectiveness of Islamic educational institutions, both in academic management and character development. This research employs a qualitative approach using a literature study method. Data were collected from books, national and international journal articles, and relevant official documents related to teamwork, human resource management, and Islamic education, particularly publications from the last ten years. Data analysis was conducted through content analysis, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that teamwork in Islamic education functions not only as a managerial strategy but also as an embodiment of Islamic values such as ukhuwah (brotherhood), syura (consultation), amanah (trustworthiness), and itqan (professionalism). Effective implementation of teamwork contributes to improved learning quality, stronger collaborative culture, and the achievement of Islamic educational goals. However, several challenges remain, including sectoral ego, ineffective communication, differing institutional visions, and weak leadership. Therefore, professional human resource management grounded in Islamic values is essential to strengthen teamwork in Islamic education

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the structure and meaning of the main poles in traditional houses of the community in Kampung Karekamangeda, Sumba Barat Daya Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The analysis focuses on the selection of pole materials, types and positions of the main poles and supporting posts, as well as their symbolic and functional significance in the context of Sumbanese traditional architecture. Based on literature review and field observations, Sumbanese traditional houses are generally supported by four primary poles symbolizing the family entities (father-mother-son-daughter) along with several other supporting posts that sustain the wall and roof. The use of selected hard wood and the stilt house structure are also characteristic features. The analysis indicates that the main poles not only bear the structural load of the towering roof (the “tower” form) but also serve as cosmological and social status symbols among the Sumba community. Further, the study found that the selection of material, layout and maintenance of the main poles are influenced by living customary beliefs, such as the kinship system and the Marapu belief system.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the mathematical elements embedded in traditional woven mats (tikaradat) from Loura District, Southwest Sumba Regency. These mats, known as nopo or pandan mats, represent an important part of Sumbanese cultural heritage with deep social and aesthetic significance. Using an ethnomathematical approach, this research identifies mathematical concepts present in the form, pattern, and production process of traditional mats. Data were obtained through literature review, observation of local crafts, and hypothetical analysis based on geometric characteristics of mat weaving. The findings reveal the presence of geometry, repetition patterns, symmetry, proportion, and geometric transformations within the structure and motifs of traditional mats. These results indicate that Sumbanese traditional mats can serve as contextual mathematics learning media linking cultural knowledge with formal mathematical concepts

Abstract

This study aims to improve the skill of sewing culottes for eleventh-grade students with hearing impairments through the explicit instruction learning model. This research employs classroom action research (CAR) with a qualitative approach, conducted collaboratively between the researcher and the classroom teacher. The subject of the study was one eleventh-grade student with hearing impairment in class XI-B at SLB Muhammadiyah Pauh IX Padang. Data were collected using test instruments to assess the student's culotte sewing skills and non-test instruments, including observations, documentation, and interviews, to evaluate the student's responses to the learning process. The research was carried out in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics for quantitative data presented as sewing skill percentages, and Miles and Huberman's qualitative analysis consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the student’s initial average skill was 50.69%. After Cycle I, the average increased to 63.75%, and after Cycle II, it reached 82.08%. These findings indicate that the explicit instruction model, applied in a structured and step-by-step manner, effectively enhances the sewing skills of students with hearing impairments.

Abstract

Hydrolytic enzymes such as amylase, lipase, and cellulase play a strategic role in various modern industrial sectors. Microorganisms isolated from forest soil and organic waste exhibit high enzyme production capabilities due to their ecological adaptation to complex substrates. This literature review examines the potential of local Indonesian microbes as a source of industrial enzymes through a systematic analysis of national research conducted during the 2015–2024 period. This study applies data analysis techniques including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing to synthesize the findings. Indonesian tropical forest soils harbor a diversity of enzyme-producing microbes with varying specific activities. Organic waste such as bagasse and fruit peels provide habitats for microbes capable of producing extracellular enzymes. The results of the literature synthesis indicate that bacterial and fungal isolates from both sources have commercial prospects for applications in the food, textile, bioenergy, and bioremediation industries. Optimizing culture conditions and large-scale production strategies are key to the successful utilization of local microbes. This study provides recommendations for further research leading to the industrialization of Indonesian microbe-based enzymes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strengthening of students’ religious character in the digital era in terms of challenges and implementation strategies in schools. The research employs a literature review method using secondary data sources, including textbooks, reputable national and international journals, conference proceedings, research reports, and educational policy documents. Data were collected through the inventory, selection, and documentation of relevant literature. Data analysis utilized content analysis through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that strengthening students’ religious character in the digital era faces multidimensional challenges arising from technological developments and changes in social behavior. Exposure to digital content that is inconsistent with religious values, invalid religious information, and excessive gadget use weakens spiritual awareness, worship practices, empathy, and mutual respect. These conditions are exacerbated by predominantly cognitive-oriented learning, low digital literacy among educators, and inconsistencies in school religious culture. Therefore, strengthening religious character requires holistic, adaptive, and sustainable strategies within the context of modern education.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the importance of internalising the values of Siddiq (honesty) and Amanah (responsibility) as the foundation for innovation in Islamic education in the digital age, particularly in shaping the character of students. The method used is a conceptual approach through literature analysis of Islamic education studies, prophetic character, and the concept of teacherpreneurship of the Prophet Muhammad SAW as a role model for modern teachers. The results of the study show that the value of Siddiq serves as the foundation of academic integrity in the digital learning process, while the value of Amanah serves as an ethical guideline in the professional responsibility of teachers towards the use of technology. The integration of these two values confirms that Islamic educational innovation rooted in prophetic spirituality is able to balance technological progress with the cultivation of noble character in students.
