Abstract

The dynamic auxiliary word“了”is a relatively special word, mainly because it has various meanings that are determined by the sentence and its position. This study investigates the lack of understanding among students regarding the use of the dynamic auxiliary word “了”. The purpose of this study is to further understand the usage of this word and to identify the errors made by students and the factors that cause these errors, in order to make a contribution to Chinese language teaching. This study uses a qualitative research method, specifically a testing method that collects information for evaluating Chinese language teaching by administering a Chinese language test to learners. The research subjects are students from the 2023 batch of the Chinese Language Education Universitas Tanjungpura. Study concludes that the error types can be categorized into four types: addition errors, substitution errors, omission errors, and sequence errors. The main reasons for these errors are negative transfer from the native language. The analysis results show that students still cannot use the dynamic auxiliary word“了”correctly, mainly because students no fully understand the usage of this word.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the best practices of reading corners in the third-grade classroom at SDN 16 Sungai Pinyuh and analyze their impact on students' reading interest and literacy skills. The main focus of the research includes aspects of facilities, book collections, teacher roles, and the evaluation and sustainability of the reading corner. The method employed is qualitative descriptive, with data collected through observations and interviews with teachers and students. The findings indicate that the reading corner serves as an effective tool for enhancing students' reading interest. Engaging facilities, such as easily accessible bookshelves and supportive decorations, create a conducive learning environment. The diverse collection of books, including both fiction and non-fiction appropriate for the age and interests of the students, encourages children to read more actively. The active role of teachers as facilitators and motivators is crucial in supporting students' reading activities, including guiding them in selecting appropriate books. Furthermore, regular maintenance and periodic evaluation of the reading corner ensure the sustainability of the literacy program in the school. This research is expected to contribute positively to the development of a reading culture among students and serve as a reference for other schools in managing reading corners.

Abstract

Mathematics anxiety is an affective factor that can negatively influence students’ learning in mathematics. High levels of anxiety may disrupt cognitive functioning, particularly working memory, which is essential for processing and solving mathematical problems. This issue is important at the junior high school level, where academic and emotional demands increase. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between mathematics anxiety and working memory capacity among students at SMP Negeri 4 Singkawang. The research employed a quantitative correlational design involving Grade VIII students. Data were collected through a mathematics anxiety questionnaire and working memory capacity tasks consisting of digit span task and operation span task. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation analysis. The results show that students generally experience moderate levels of mathematics anxiety and working memory capacity. The analysis also reveals a significant negative relationship between mathematics anxiety and working memory capacity, with higher anxiety associated with lower working memory capacity. In conclusion, mathematics anxiety is negatively related to working memory capacity.

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence technology, particularly ChatGPT, has brought changes to learning practices in higher education. Students are increasingly utilizing ChatGPT as an aid in completing academic tasks and supporting independent learning processes. This study aims to analyze the Utilization of ChatGPT among Students of the Economic Education Study Program at FKIP Universitas Tanjungpura, both in assisting the completion of academic assignments and as scaffolding for learning to generate creative ideas and support students' independent thinking processes. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving 11 informants, including three lecturers and eight active students who used ChatGPT in their academic activities. The results indicate that the utilization of ChatGPT is influenced by students’ perceptions of ease of use and perceived usefulness. ChatGPT helps students understand tasks, accelerates the completion of academic work, and facilitates the search for references and idea development. In addition, ChatGPT serves as a scaffolding for learning that supports critical thinking and creativity among students when used actively, reflectively, and accompanied by information verification. However, passive and excessive use of ChatGPT has the potential to create dependency and reduce the intensity of independent thinking and creativity among students. Therefore, it can be concluded that ChatGPT has the potential to be an effective learning aid if used wisely. The role of lecturers and students’ academic awareness are crucial in ensuring that the use of ChatGPT remains aligned with learning objectives and academic ethics.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of financial literacy and economic behavior on financial management. Using a correlational research design with a quantitative approach, this study focuses on a population of 43 scholarship recipients enrolled in the Economics Education program at FKIP Untan, specifically from the 2021-2024 cohorts. The research sample used non-probability sampling techniques with a census/total sampling method involving 43 students. The analysis methods used in this study included descriptive statistics, T-test, Ftest, multiple linear regression, and coefficient of determination. The results of the study show that: 1) financial literacy (X1) has a significant partial effect on financial management (Y); 2) economic behavior (X2) has a significant partial effect on financial management (Y); and 3) there is a simultaneous effect of financial literacy (X1) and economic behavior (X2) on financial management (Y). The coefficient of determination calculated is 0.564, indicating that the contribution of variable X1 and variable X2 in explaining or predicting variable Y is 56.4%. Future researchers are encouraged to explore a wider range of variables, including lifestyle factors, pocket money, income, and other relevant influences.
