Abstract

The role of Indonesian language learning in elementary schools is very fundamental. Indonesian is a mandatory subject for elementary school students to study. One of the Indonesian language subjects that is often interesting and must be maximized is the skill of reading poetry. Students' poetry reading skills must be taught through providing interesting media and appropriate learning methods. The relevant media and methods are image expression media and demonstration methods. This research aims to determine the effect of expressive image media supported by demonstration methods on poetry reading skills. The research approach used is a quantitative study using true experimental design by providing treatment to one of the classes. The research was conducted on fourth grade students at SD Modern Paramadina Kediri. Data collection techniques using tests, observation and documentation. Data analysis uses prerequisite tests for normality and homogeneity, while hypothesis verification uses the t-test. The research results prove that the significance value obtained was 0.003 0.05 (5%) and the t-count value was 3.070 which was higher than the t-table value of 1.996. So it can be concluded that there is an influence of expressive image media supported by the demonstration method on the poetry reading skills of class IV students at SD Modern Paramadina Kediri.

Abstract

Education is an important part of a person's life. Through education a person can gain knowledge about morals, science, character, and other things that are important for social and state life. Each country has its own standards in providing education to its citizens. The purpose of writing this article is to make a comparison between education standards in Indonesia and the United States, especially in the state of California. The research method used is literature research. This study looked at several previous research studies and the standards applied in the two countries. Data analysis was conducted using qualitative descriptive techniques. Education standards in Indonesia and the United States-California are different. This can be seen from the different standards and outcomes. In the curriculum, Indonesia has a centralized curriculum which at the basic education level consists of 10 subjects plus local content. Whereas in the United States the basic education curriculum prioritizes soft skills with 4 general subjects that are derived in the form of sub-subjects. However, both the United States-California and Indonesia try to implement the best education standards according to the capabilities of the citizens and the characteristics of each country.

Abstract

Indonesian language plays a crucial role asthe foundation for scientific and social communication within the educational setting. However, the learning outcomes of grade 5B students at SD Maitreyawira Palembang had yet to reach the expected standards. This issue stemmed from the continued use of conventional teaching methods, which were perceived as monotonous and unengaging. Initial observations indicated that only 68% of students achieved learning mastery, falling short of the established Minimum Competency Criteria (KKM) of 85%. To address this challenge, the researcher conducted Classroom Action Research (CAR) by implementing an educational dice game as an interactive learning medium. The study was conducted over two cycles, each comprising four phases: planning, action, observation, and reflection. A total of 25 students participated in the study, consisting of 12 boys and 13 girls. Data were collected through field notes, observation checklists, and learning outcome assessments. The findings revealed a notable improvement in student performance, with the mastery level rising to 76% in the first cycle and reaching 88% in the second cycle surpassing the KKM threshold. Furthermore, students demonstrated increased motivation and active participation during lessons. The use of educational dice games effectively fostered an enjoyable classroom environment, enhanced material comprehension, and promoted collaborative learning. Therefore, educational dice games can be considered a practical and engaging strategy to enhance Indonesian language learning outcomes at the elementary level.
