Abstract

Science (science) has played a fundamental role in shaping the development of modern society through various innovations and discoveries that have dramatically changed people's way of life. Advances in medicine have increased life expectancy and improved the quality of public health, while advances in information and communication technology have created a more connected and informed society. Discoveries in agriculture and industry made it possible to produce food and consumer goods on a large scale, thereby changing the economic and social structure of society. However, the impact of science on society is not limited to material and technological aspects alone. The scientific method and rational thinking that are the basis of science have shaped modern society's perspective in understanding and solving various problems. This encourages the development of a society that is more critical, objective and evidence-based in decision making. Apart from that, science has also contributed to overcoming various global challenges such as climate change, food security and public health, as well as creating new ethical and social dilemmas that society must face today.

Abstract

Indonesia, as the owner of the largest biodiversity, also possesses various local wisdoms that contain profound meanings. The sasi tradition is a prohibition on the community from continuously harvesting natural resources at any time, but rather at specific intervals, to allow environmental recovery. Sasi, as practiced within communities, serves to maintain the quality and sustainability of biological resources, and this resource management is overseen by traditional institutions such as rajas, heads of soa, saniri, kewang, and marinyo. Sasi can also be understood as a tradition aimed primarily at ensuring the continuity and balance of natural resources. This tradition is a cultural value widely practiced among indigenous communities in Maluku, and is found across all Maluku islands, including Halmahera, Ternate, Buru, Seram, Ambon, the Lease Islands, Watubela, Banda, the Aru Islands, the Southwest Islands, and the western part of Southeast Maluku. Therefore, this scientific paper aims to examine the role of the sasi tradition in supporting environmental conservation and fostering a love for nature. The method used is a literature review, involving reading, studying, analyzing, and reviewing literature related to the role of sasi in supporting environmental conservation and fostering environmental awareness. The findings of this study indicate that the sasi tradition strongly supports environmental conservation and can also foster a love for nature.

Abstract

Learning media play an important role in education because they can accelerate and facilitate the teaching and learning process and increase its effectiveness. This article discusses the contribution of learning media to the education of students by improving understanding of material, stimulating motivation and encouraging active student participation. Learning media also support independent learning by allowing students to access materials anytime and anywhere, extending learning beyond the classroom. Different types of media, ranging from traditional media such as books and posters to modern technologies such as digital simulations, interactive video and virtual reality, are used to meet different learning needs. The use of these media helps to overcome the physical limitations of classrooms and to accommodate students' learning styles, whether visual, auditory or kinesthetic. However, there are challenges such as limited infrastructure and lack of teacher skills in using technology. Solutions include ongoing teacher training and the development of locally appropriate media. With the right approach, learning media becomes a key element in achieving educational goals, not only educating students cognitively, but also developing character and life skills needed for the future. Learning media is not just a tool, but an essential factor in creating a holistic and sustainable education.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence of implementing the local 3S culture (Sipakatau, Sipakainge, and Sipakalebbi) in student management on shaping a superior generation in Indonesia. Through a literature review method, this research explores the concept of local culture as an approach to understanding how traditional values can be applied in the context of student management to create an excellent generation. The results highlight that the internalization of local culture in student management can create an inclusive and supportive learning environment, shaping students' character with integrity, hard work, cooperation, empathy, and respect for differences. By integrating local cultural values into education, the future generation can be developed into individuals who are not only academically superior but also possess a positive attitude, responsibility, and readiness to face the complexities of the future world. Therefore, student management that applies the legacy of local culture can be the key to shaping a superior generation ready to face global challenges with a positive and integrity-driven attitude.

Abstract

The availability of a practicum guide is essential in fostering students' teamwork skills. Based on media needs analysis, it was concluded that the development of a practicum guide based on modified free inquiry is aimed at fostering students' teamwork skills. The objective of this research is to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the biology practicum guide based on modified free inquiry to enhance students' teamwork skills. This research is categorized as research and development (R&D) using the ADDIE development design (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The research population consists of biology education students at the State Islamic University of Raden Fatah Palembang. The sampling technique used in this study is purposive sampling. Data analysis for validity and practicality was conducted using Likert scale questionnaires, and effectiveness was measured based on observer questionnaires regarding students' teamwork skills. The validation results showed a media expert percentage of 88.1% with the criterion of very valid, a material expert percentage of 91% with the criterion of very valid, and a language expert percentage of 88.3% with the criterion of very valid. The field practitioners' assessment yielded an average response of 100% in all aspects, categorized as positive, leading to the conclusion that the guide is practical. The effectiveness of the practicum guide was derived from observer assessments, with a result of 83.3%, indicating a very frequent occurrence in fostering students' teamwork skills.

Abstract

Science has made a major contribution in advancing human civilization. However, it is important to recognize that science has inherent limitations. This limitation arises from the scientific method which relies on empirical observation and experimentation, making it difficult to study phenomena that are subjective or spiritual in nature. In addition, science is also limited in predicting random or complex events. The implications of these limitations of science are far-reaching, ranging from science's inability to answer questions about the meaning of life to difficulties in making ethical decisions involving technology. A deep understanding of the limitations of science can help society to appreciate the role of science in life while remaining aware of the importance of other values such as religion, arts and humanities. In this way, humans can build a more holistic and balanced world view
