Abstract

This study investigates how tax knowledge and income tax incentives affect tax compliance among MSMEs, with tax digitalization functioning as a moderating variable. MSMEs are vital to Indonesia's economy, yet achieving tax compliance in this sector poses significant challenges, especially in Palu, which has been heavily impacted by the 2018 natural disaster and the COVID-19 pandemic. In response to these difficulties, the government launched several measures, including Regulation No. 44 of 2020, which offers tax incentives for businesses affected by the pandemic. However, as of May 2020, the adoption of these incentives among MSME operators was notably low (D. Setiawan, 2018). This situation led researchers to explore whether MSMEs in Palu have effectively taken advantage of these income tax incentives. The research utilized a quantitative methodology, employing a Likert scale to measure the impact of the independent variables on the dependent variable. The population for the study comprised MSMEs registered with the Department of Cooperatives, MSMEs, and Labor in Palu, with purposive sampling used to select respondents based on specific criteria. Data collection was conducted manually using questionnaires, and the analysis was performed using WarpPLS 7.0. The findings indicated that tax knowledge significantly and positively influences MSME tax compliance, and income tax incentives also demonstrate a substantial positive effect. Although tax digitalization does not significantly moderate the relationship between tax knowledge and compliance, it does play a moderating role in the effect of income tax incentives on compliance.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the practice of using pre-divided inheritance as funeral expenses in Aceh Singkil Regency from the perspective of Islamic Law and the Aceh Customary Council (Majelis Adat Aceh). This study uses a qualitative method with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The results of the study found that funeral expenses in Aceh Singkil Regency are often carried out using undistributed inheritance, even though this is contrary to Islamic law. Islamic law prohibits the use of inheritance for funerals except under certain conditions with strict requirements, but the practice in Aceh Singkil shows that many of these requirements are not met. In addition, the view of the Aceh Singkil Regency Customary Council emphasizes that the use of undistributed inheritance for funerals is contrary to sharia and is very relevant. Therefore, the implementation of this prohibition is very important to prevent violations of Islamic Law.

Abstract

This study investigates the potential impacts of President Trump’s protectionist policies on Indonesia’s export sector, with a particular focus on national economic resilience. The protectionist stance, which includes elevated tariffs and trade restrictions, has historically influenced global trade dynamics, affecting emerging markets like Indonesia. By conducting an extensive literature review, this paper aims to analyze previous instances of U.S. protectionist policies, particularly under Trump’s administration, and their repercussions on trade partners. The study examines the vulnerability of Indonesia’s key export sectors textiles, electronics, and agriculture and discusses the possible economic consequences, such as reduced GDP growth, increased trade imbalance, and employment risks. Findings from this review reveal that heightened U.S. protectionism could significantly disrupt Indonesia’s export flows, challenging the country’s economic stability. Policy implications underscore the need for Indonesia to diversify its export markets, enhance competitive capacities, and explore alternative economic strategies. This paper provides a comprehensive perspective on the indirect effects of U.S. economic policies on Indonesia, contributing valuable insights to policymakers and stakeholders preparing for future trade uncertainties.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of Content-Based Instruction (CBI) in enhancing Maritime English proficiency among cadets at Sorong Merchant Marine Polytechnic. A quantitative approach was used, employing pre-test and post-test evaluations, along with a questionnaire to assess cadets’ language development and perceptions. The study involved 24 fourth-semester cadets in the Nautical Studies program. Results showed a significant improvement in Maritime English proficiency, with average test scores increasing from 69.7 (pre-test) to 95.7 (post-test), demonstrating a substantial 26-point improvement. Statistical analysis (paired t-test, p < 0.05) confirmed the significance of this improvement. The questionnaire results indicated that cadets viewed the CBI approach as highly effective, with an average satisfaction score of 4.5 out of 5. This research highlights the success of CBI in bridging the gap between language acquisition and real-world maritime contexts, suggesting it could serve as a valuable model for Maritime English instruction in similar educational settings. The findings support the integration of CBI into maritime curricula to better prepare cadets for the linguistic and operational demands of the global maritime industry.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the dynamics of teacher-student interactions in the context of hybrid learning in elementary schools. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers, and analysis of digital platforms used through a case study approach. Findings indicate that although digital technology provides flexibility in time and space and a variety of interactive tools, student engagement in online sessions tends to be low. Non-verbal communication is also limited, affecting the quality of interpersonal interactions. Digital literacy is key; teachers who can utilize technology well can improve student interaction and engagement, and the challenge of unequal access to technology widens the gap in learning. The implications of this study emphasize the need to improve digital literacy for teachers and students, as well as solutions to overcome technological barriers to support effective hybrid learning in the future.
