Abstract

The tendency of teachers to deliver conventional learning and not utilize technology-based learning media has an impact on students' low understanding of mathematics learning material. This research aims to develop PETRANUM interactive learning media and examine the effectiveness of this media in improving the numeracy skills of grade 1 elementary school students. The research findings show that the results of material expert validation of learning media design are 97.67% which is in a very valid category. Meanwhile, the percentage of validation results from media experts is 85% in the valid category. In this way, the learning media design created meets the valid criteria and is suitable for use. The results of the large group gain test were 1.05 in the high category, meaning that the numeracy literacy abilities of grade 1 elementary school students increased after the Android-based PETRANUM interactive learning media was used in the learning process. Keywords: Android, arithmetic operations, interactive learning media

Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe the mathematical problem-solving abilities of students at a public school in Konawe District. This research employs a qualitative method. The study involves 12 student participants selected through purposive sampling technique. Data collection includes tests, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis involves data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results indicate that 8.3% of students have high and moderate problem-solving abilities, while 83.4% have low problem-solving abilities. In terms of understanding the problem, students with high and moderate abilities demonstrate adequate understanding, although they struggle with determining the final answer accurately. On the other hand, students with low problem-solving abilities only write down what they know. Errors in solving mathematical problem-solving abilities are mainly found in the process of devising a mathematical problem-solving plan. Additionally, during the reviewing stage, students do not conduct thorough and accurate reviews. The level of mathematical problem-solving abilities is influenced by the lack of practice in solving story problems related to fractions and integers. Keywords: Integers, mathematics, problem solving ability

Abstract

This research aims to develop interactive learning videos based on the Canva application for science education in sixth-grade elementary school classes. The study employs a Research and Development (R&D) methodology and was conducted at a public elementary school in Demak, with a total of 20 student subjects. Data were collected through expert validation questionnaires, teacher and student response questionnaires, interviews, documentation, and tests. The results of the media and content expert validations showed percentages of 96% and 98%, respectively, indicating very high feasibility. Both teachers and students assessed the developed media as very practical, with percentages of 96% and 98%, respectively. Analysis of the n-gain from student learning outcomes revealed a percentage of 92.5%, categorizing it as high. These findings indicate that the Canva-based Earth Rotation learning video for social studies in elementary schools is highly feasible and effective in improving students' cognitive learning outcomes. Abstract

Early childhood education is currently mandatory for every child. However, high economic demands require parents to involve their children in economic activities around the Mandalika Special Economic Zone. This study aims to assess the level of community awareness regarding early childhood education and to describe efforts to enhance this awareness. Data collection was conducted using observation, questionnaire, and interview. Data were analyzed through stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The findings indicate that the community in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone has a moderate level of awareness regarding the importance of early childhood education. Efforts to increase public understanding of the significance of early childhood education can be made through parental involvement via workshops, seminars, and online discussions through platform like WhatsApp Groups. The government needs to provide facilities for these parental activities to raise awareness about the importance of early childhood education. Keywords: Early childhood education, education awareness, mandalika special economic zone

Abstract

Education requires a technological approach to create an interesting and up-to-date learning process. Wordwall is a modern application that provides attractive templates to make it easier for PAI teachers to carry out the learning process. This research aims to present the effectiveness of wordwalls in learning Islamic Religious Education. Another goal is to create an interesting learning process for students in the classroom. The research method is carried out in the form of a literature study by collecting various journals, books and other scientific data related to the research topic. This research found that wordwalls can be used as learning media for Islamic religious education in the classroom. The wordwall application has an important role in creating an interesting, enjoyable learning atmosphere and creates enthusiasm in children. Wordwall also creates good imagination in children, making students always interested in taking part in the next PAI lesson. Keywords: Literature study, wordwall, PAI learning

Abstract

Learning difficulties in mathematics, particularly in solid geometry, remain common in primary schools and can hinder learning mastery. This study aimed to describe the profile of fifth-grade students’ learning difficulties in solid geometry at SD Negeri 22 Kendari. A qualitative descriptive design supported by descriptive statistics was employed. Data were collected through a story-based diagnostic test, classroom observation, teacher and student interviews, and documentation. The participants consisted of 30 students, with in-depth analysis focusing on 21 students who did not meet the mastery criterion. The findings indicate that the most prominent difficulties were conceptual, including distinguishing solid figures, understanding geometric elements, and using measurement units accurately. Principle-related difficulties appeared in selecting and applying surface area and volume formulas according to problem contexts, especially when linking given information to formula variables. Procedural difficulties involved arithmetic errors, incomplete solution steps, and low computational accuracy. These results highlight the importance of diagnostic assessment and instruction that prioritizes conceptual understanding, relationships among geometric elements, and systematic problem-solving strategies to inform targeted remedial support. Abstract

Early numeracy is a critical foundation for young children’s readiness to learn mathematics. This study aimed to enhance early numeracy through picture media implemented gradually using an enactive–iconic–symbolic learning trajectory. A two-cycle classroom action research design was conducted in a preschool group at PAUD Ummushabri Kendari, involving 15 children. Data were collected through observations of instructional implementation and children’s development, performance and product assessments (matching quantities to number symbols, ordering numbers, and tracing number forms), and documentation. Data were analyzed descriptively using quantitative and qualitative procedures. Results showed steady improvements from the pre-intervention phase to Cycle I and further gains in Cycle II, reaching full class mastery. The strongest progress appeared in one-to-one correspondence and number ordering, while number symbol recognition improved after strengthening quantity–symbol mapping activities. Instructional implementation also improved, especially in consistent gradual support and managing transitions from pictorial representations to number symbols. These findings indicate that picture media is effective when positioned as a representational tool that connects counting experiences, visual representations, and number symbols through repeated, meaningful practice. Keywords: early numeracy; picture media; enactive iconic symbolic; number symbols; one-to-one correspondence; number ordering

Abstract

Student compliance with school rules is essential for safe, orderly learning and is shaped by socialization across home and school contexts. This study examined the profile of the family environment and its relationship with compliance among Grade 5 pupils in an Indonesian public elementary school. A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted with 52 students selected through random sampling from a population of 105. Data were collected using two Likert-type questionnaires measuring family environment and compliance with school rules and analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and simple linear regression. Most students reported a “good” family environment (55.76%) and “good” compliance (53.84%). Family environment was positively associated with compliance (r = .334, p = .015) and significantly predicted compliance (B = 0.469, t = 2.508, p = .015), explaining 11.2% of variance (R² = .112). The findings indicate that supportive and structured home conditions contribute modestly to rule-following, while substantial variability likely reflects school climate, peer dynamics, and individual self-regulation. Strengthening home–school alignment may support more consistent student discipline. Keywords: family environment; student compliance; school rules; elementary school; parental monitoring
