Abstract

The strengthening of character education in schools needs to be implemented collaboratively by involving the roles of students' parents and/or families and the community. To facilitate such partnership initiatives, a partnership model is required as a shared reference and a parameter for achieving its implementation. This study aims to develop a character education partnership model for junior high school students based on an Android application. This research is a development study referring to the procedures outlined by Borg and Gall (2007), which consist of ten stages. In this second stage, the research involved the development of an initial product following the data collection and planning stages conducted in the previous year. During this initial product development stage, an Android application was developed to implement the holistic character education partnership model for junior high school students. After the initial product design was formed, experts, including material and media experts, conducted a preliminary field test. The results of the expert validation were used to improve or revise the product before conducting further limited user testing. The result of this study is Prototype 1 of the Android application titled "Ketik Pintar Apps" (Holistic Character Education Partnership Application). This application facilitates the implementation of the holistic character education partnership model for junior high school students by accommodating elements of holistic partnership, such as communication, participation, and empowerment of teachers and parents in an integrated, simultaneous, and persistent manner in the implementation of character education both at school and outside of school.

Abstract

This study examines the extent of consular access and protection available to Nigerian nationals through the Nigerian Consulate in Saudi Arabia. Nigerians have long been central to the diplomatic relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. Over the years, various efforts have been made to safeguard the rights and welfare of Nigerians residing in the Kingdom. Since 1982, Nigeria has maintained a consulate in Jeddah, established by the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations (1963). This study is based on data collected through interviews with 13 purposively selected participants, including staff of the Nigerian Consulate in Jeddah, irregular (undocumented) residents, and detained Nigerian nationals. The findings reveal that over 80% of Nigerians residing in Saudi Arabia do so without legal documentation, with a smaller portion comprising arrested and/or imprisoned individuals. The study shows that irregular residents face significant challenges in accessing consular services, primarily due to fear of deportation, which discourages them from engaging with the consulate. On the other hand, most arrested individuals were legal residents, typically accused of offenses related to illicit substance trafficking or other violations of Saudi law. While some were found guilty, many convicted Nigerians reported a lack of adequate support and follow-up from consular officials during their imprisonment. In conclusion, both irregular residents and arrested Nigerian nationals are exposed to heightened vulnerability in the absence of adequate and accessible consular protection in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Abstract

Indonesia possesses vast maritime potential, notably exemplified by the mangrove ecosystems along its coastal regions. The effective management of marine resources necessitates an integrated and comprehensive model. This necessity has predominantly been addressed through the blue economy framework. The defense of national territory inherently involves military engagement; however, sole management of coastal areas by the military presents potential challenges. Consequently, the involvement of religious groups is essential to facilitate communication and promote the blue economy initiatives within these coastal zones. This study's primary objective is to enhance coastal communities' welfare through the synergy between religious institutions and military forces. The findings indicate that spiritual and military entities have independently undertaken mangrove conservation efforts. While both parties acknowledge the necessity of collaborative action for developing a mangrove-based blue economy, such collaboration has yet to be realized due to the absence of a formal legal framework. The synergy between religious groups and the military occurs organically, rooted in a shared historical legacy of contributing to the formation of the Indonesian nation and supporting national development efforts. Effective program collaboration requires the presence of development actors capable of serving as catalysts to unify these two sectors. Mangrove conservation activities remain largely ceremonial, lacking structured oversight and sustainability measures for implementing a comprehensive, role-specific, and goal-oriented program.

Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze the implementation of adequate health access in the Class II A Padang Correctional Institution from a Human Rights (HR) perspective. The study employed a qualitative research method with a descriptive-analytical approach. The results indicate that the provision of health services in the Class II A Padang Correctional Institution has not been guided by HR principles and Human Rights-Based Public Service Standards (P2HAM). Limitations in human resources, inadequate medical facilities and infrastructure, especially for pregnant and breastfeeding women and children, as well as a lack of effective regulations in the application of health standards, are the main factors hindering the fulfillment of health rights for inmates. Furthermore, strengthening regulations and oversight from the authorities is also an essential factor in ensuring that the health rights of inmates can be optimally fulfilled in the Correctional Institution to realize a more humane and just correctional system.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of SIPD to improve the quality of regional development planning in Jembrana Regency. Since the enactment of Permendagri Number 70 of 2019, the Jembrana Regency Government has faced several obstacles in using SIPD to support the preparation of regional development planning documents, including limited resources, the absence of standard implementation procedures in the region, and low human resource capacity which results in suboptimal data input and implementation of the planning process flow in SIPD. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach, using data from interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the SIPD policy in Jembrana Regency has not been optimal in several dimensions that still face obstacles, namely aspects of implementer competence and capability, aspects of resource support, aspects of strategies applied, and aspects of implementer compliance and responsiveness in implementing SIPD. The less than optimal implementation of this policy is caused by several inhibiting factors, including the low capacity of implementers in terms of both quantity and quality, the unfulfilled standards for the number of human resources, the capacity of the system network support, and the availability of budget, the weak coordination strategy used, and the lack of compliance and responsiveness of policy implementers both in Bappeda and in each Regional Apparatus. Bappeda needs to focus on strengthening the capacity of implementers through technical training, socialization, mentoring, and the preparation of clear standard procedures to facilitate monitoring and evaluation. In addition, coordination in the form of FGDs and socialization with OPDs, DPRD, and the community needs to be carried out at every stage of the planning process so that there is no conflict of interest and resistance to SIPD policies in the future. Bappeda can also innovate in the form of planning clinics to facilitate the Regional Apparatus in consulting regarding SIPD planning and implementation. The Ministry of Home Affairs must also ensure network infrastructure support so that this system does not experience problems when accessed simultaneously.

Abstract

This article studied the influence of artificial intelligence on alleviating cognitive load and promoting cognitive longevity in master's mathematics students at the Catholic University of Ghana. Stress in academic programs, time constraints, and burnout are rising issues, particularly in postgraduate programs in STEM. Therefore, this study examines the impact of AI apps such as ChatGPT, WolframAlpha, and Grammarly on providing cognitive support and emotional sustenance in academic environments. The study is guided by Cognitive Load Theory (Sweller, 1988), Allostatic Load Theory (McEwen, 1998), and Socio-Technical Systems Theory (Trist, 1981) and follows a mixed-method approach consisting of survey data from 100 master's students and in-depth interviews. The survey revealed that 78 percent were moderately to highly cognitively overloaded, while 65 percent utilized AI to work on their academic tasks. A notable negative relationship was found between AI use and perceived stress (r = -0.42, p < 0.01), with more confidence in academic work and improved time management. ANOVA revealed significant differences in stress levels among the different frequencies of AI use (F = 4.56, p < 0.05). Qualitative analyses generated the core themes of "AI as a cognitive assistant," "digital dependency," and "emotional assurance." Their reports indicated that they used AI to help them understand complex mathematical ideas, organize their academic writing, and calm their nerves about presentations. However, they voiced worries about becoming overdependent on it, issues of academic integrity, and ethics concerning AI's role in learning. The end product maintains that AI is a reasonable tool for easing cognitive load, encouraging mental well-being, and enhancing cognitive longevity. These findings have policy implications for the inclusion of AI literacy in both academic and national digital educational frameworks. AI implementation strategies could disappear into the topping of teaching success while serving the broader public health agenda of student mental health and human capital development.
