Abstract

The TSE-Creative Teaching’s Workshop is a community service program by the undergraduate Energy Systems Engineering faculty aimed at sharing knowledge with teachers at SMKN 4 Bandung. This workshop aims to assist teachers in integrating educational technology into their teaching methods. Teachers will learn how to use hardware to install Wind Power Plants (PLTB) and simulate PLTB installations. This aims to enhance the teachers' experience so they can transfer their knowledge to students, preparing them for the clean energy transition in the digital era. During this activity, the teachers achieved an average accuracy of 61% in answering questions correctly. Based on the questionnaire results, 100% of SMKN 4 Bandung participants agreed or strongly agreed on the relevance of the implemented community service program. Through this training, it is expected that teachers will improve their understanding of renewable energy, inspiring and guiding students in understanding the importance of renewable energy and their role in environmental conservation. Additionally, this training is expected to strengthen the school's involvement in sustainable practices and spread awareness about the importance of renewable energy within the local community.

Abstract

Self-directed learning has become increasingly important in a dynamic world, with English as the key to global opportunities in education, employment, and cultural exchange. This service activity, conducted at SMK N 1 Purwokerto, aims to encourage students to become autonomous learners in English language acquisition. Through innovative approaches such as lectures, watching short films, and interactive games, students are provided with practical strategies for self-learning. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' motivation and engagement in English learning. Methods such as watching English films have proven effective in enriching vocabulary and improving listening comprehension. Recent studies support the effectiveness of these methods, showing that audiovisual input and the use of subtitles can significantly aid language learning. By providing students with the necessary skills and tools, these activities successfully create a supportive and motivating learning environment, preparing students to become successful independent learners.

Abstract

Breast cancer is a malignancy that often occurs in women, especially in women who have menstruated, including teenagers. However, these women often misunderstand the benefits of breast cancer screening programs such as Awareness examinations, clinical examinations and mammography examinations. The health problem faced at SMA Negeri 1 Rancah Ciamis, West Java is that teenagers do not know about the Monthly Breast Self Exam or are aware of it. The methods used in this PkM include preparation, socialization of the importance of solutions, participant screening, implementation of activities, monitoring and evaluation. This science and technology implementation program aims to: 1). Improving teenagers' skills in carrying out Monthly Breast Self Exam/awareness examinations to detect breast cancer early. 2). Awareness examination was carried out by teenagers to detect breast cancer early at SMA Negeri 1 Rancah Ciamis, West Java. The results of this activity are 1). Adolescents are skilled in carrying out Monthly Breast Self Exams/be aware to detect breast cancer early; 2). Monthly Breast Self Exam/be aware by teenagers for early detection. Abstract

Cognitive impairment and dementia place a significant burden on families in care. Those caring for older adults with dementia often face extraordinary emotional, physical, and financial challenges. Therefore, families and older adults need to maximize their role and provide support to reduce the burden they feel. Objective: This Community Service aims to increase the knowledge and skills of family caregivers in caring for older adults with cognitive impairment problems. Activities are carried out by providing counseling and demonstrations. The partner involved in the activity is the Kertosono Community Health Center. Activities are evaluated using pre-post tests. The average score of participants at the pretest was 5.36 and increased at the posttest to 8.46, so there was an increase in family caregivers' knowledge regarding cognitive impairment problems. The difference between the pre-test and post-test significance values ​​is 0.000, this value is <0.05 which explains that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores. Training is useful for improving the knowledge and skills of family caregivers in caring for older adults with cognitive impairment problems.

Abstract

Penerapan teknologi AI pada sektor pendidikan di Kabupaten Karanganyar, misalnya, telah menunjukkan dampak positif yang signifikan dan beragam. AI tidak hanya membantu guru dalam menyusun kurikulum yang lebih efektif dan adaptif terhadap kebutuhan masing-masing siswa, tetapi juga memberikan dukungan yang lebih personal dan spesifik. Guru dapat dengan mudah memantau perkembangan siswa, mengidentifikasi kelemahan, dan memberikan intervensi yang tepat waktu. Selain itu, AI juga membantu siswa dalam memahami materi pelajaran dengan cara yang lebih interaktif dan menarik melalui penggunaan aplikasi belajar yang canggih dan alat bantu visual yang inovatif. Dengan demikian, penerapan AI di bidang pendidikan tidak hanya memudahkan proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran, tetapi juga berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan di Kabupaten Karanganyar secara keseluruhan. AI memungkinkan personalisasi pembelajaran yang disesuaikan dengan kecepatan dan gaya belajar masing-masing siswa, sehingga mereka lebih mudah menyerap informasi dan termotivasi untuk belajar. Peningkatan minat belajar siswa yang signifikan, didukung oleh penyuapan pengajaran guru dengan teknologi, khususnya AI Chat-GPT, mencapai lebih dari 90%. Guru juga dapat memanfaatkan teknologi AI untuk mengotomatisasi tugas-tugas administratif, sehingga mereka dapat lebih fokus pada pengajaran dan pengembangan secara profesional. Lebih jauh lagi, teknologi AI memberikan akses ke sumber daya pendidikan yang lebih luas dan beragam, membuka peluang bagi siswa untuk belajar dari berbagai sumber yang mungkin sebelumnya tidak tersedia. Semua ini menunjukkan bahwa integrasi AI dalam pendidikan tidak hanya merupakan inovasi teknologi, tetapi juga merupakan langkah-langkah strategis dalam meningkatkan kualitas dan efektivitas pendidikan di Kabupaten Karanganyar, memastikan bahwa setiap siswa memiliki kesempatan yang sama untuk sukses.

Abstract

Social media is currently widely used to discuss politics and the resulting discourse often polarizes society. In addition to the issue of political polarization, an important issue that needs to be observed ahead of, during and after the election is the circulation of hoaxes, fake news, and hate speech between supporters of political candidates. According to the results of the Kompas R&D survey, the interest of Generation Z is large enough to use the right to vote in the 2024 election. However, their enthusiasm tends to be lower when compared to the generation above them. If in Generation Z the enthusiasm rate is at 67.8 percent, then the participants of the generation above have a percentage of 68.1-77.9 percent. For this reason, it is necessary to have alternative media that can be used as a vehicle for political education for generation Z so that their enthusiasm to participate in elections is increasing. This community service team has developed a card game as an alternative media for voter education among generation z. The result of the event using this game shows an increase of understanding of the participants from 43,33 point to 67,65 point in average out of 17 participants of the event.

Abstract

Pengenalan kecerdasan buatan (AI) di kalangan siswa sekolah menengah di wilayah Banyumas masih terbatas, meskipun AI semakin penting dalam berbagai bidang. Untuk meningkatkan literasi AI, dilakukan pelatihan AI-Project menggunakan Google Teachable Machine, yang dirancang untuk memudahkan siswa memahami dan menerapkan konsep dasar AI. Metode Participatory Action Research (PAR) diterapkan dalam kegiatan ini, meliputi tahapan observasi, refleksi, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Pelatihan dibagi menjadi beberapa sesi, termasuk pengenalan AI, demonstrasi penggunaan Google Teachable Machine, dan praktek pembuatan proyek AI oleh siswa. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa merasa puas dengan pelatihan, dan 87% menunjukkan minat untuk mempelajari AI lebih lanjut. Proyek yang dihasilkan siswa berhasil mengenali objek dan suara dengan akurasi yang baik, menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman mereka tentang AI. Kegiatan ini membuktikan bahwa pendekatan interaktif dan praktis dapat secara efektif meningkatkan literasi teknologi di kalangan siswa. Disarankan agar pelatihan serupa diperluas ke lebih banyak sekolah dan melibatkan guru sebagai pendamping siswa, serta menambahkan sesi pelatihan lanjutan untuk memperdalam pemahaman siswa tentang AI. Dengan demikian, literasi AI di kalangan siswa dapat terus ditingkatkan, mendorong inovasi dan kesiapan teknologi di masa depan.

Abstract

Cosmetics are beneficial products that serve to protect the body and face while aiming to enhance appearance. Despite their benefits, cosmetic waste that is not properly managed can contribute to environmental pollution. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the environmental impact of cosmetic use and explore ways to reduce production waste. The Holistic Green Edu-Action initiative focuses on reducing cosmetic waste directed to landfills. This project integrates education and concrete actions to raise public awareness, particularly through webinars discussing the role of social media in environmental stewardship. These webinars emphasize how social media platforms can be effectively utilized to educate the public about the dangers of cosmetic waste and encourage community involvement in better waste management practices. The project aspires to create a positive impact on the environment and minimize the amount of cosmetic waste ending up in landfills.

Abstract

Cabai rawit (Capsicum frutescens L.) merupakan komoditas hortikultura bernilai tinggi yang sering mengalami fluktuasi harga, sehingga sulit diakses masyarakat menengah ke bawah. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, program pengabdian kepada masyarakat (KKN-T) dilaksanakan di Desa Suci, Kecamatan Mundu, dengan tujuan memberikan edukasi tentang budidaya cabai rawit di pekarangan rumah menggunakan polybag. Program ini melibatkan penyuluhan dan pelatihan yang diikuti oleh ibu-ibu KWT dan PKK. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pemilihan benih berkualitas, teknik penyemaian, penanaman, serta penggunaan pupuk organik. Hasil program menunjukkan bahwa para peserta memahami dan mempraktikkan teknik budidaya cabai rawit dalam polybag, yang berpotensi meningkatkan kemandirian pangan keluarga. Program ini juga menguatkan pentingnya pertanian organik untuk ketahanan pangan rumah tangga. Disarankan untuk memperluas jangkauan program ini ke wilayah lain dan memperkenalkan metode pertanian yang lebih berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Stay-at-home moms often face unique stressors and challenges in their daily lives, which can impact their well-being and sleep quality. Stress as a source of physical and mental health disorders in housewives. There is evidence in the literature that stress can reduce the effectiveness of the human immune system and increase the risk of infection. One effective intervention to improve the health and happiness of housewives is mindfulness techniques. The aims of this activity are (1) increasing knowledge about stress and its impact on health (2) increasing skills in mindfulness techniques to reduce stress (3) reducing degenerative diseases such as hypertension and diabetes mellitus which are caused by stress. The method for implementing this activity is giving a pre-test, post-test about stress before and after education, providing training on mindfulness techniques which begins with giving a questionnaire about mindfulness. This activity was attended by 17 PKK mothers in Ledug Village. Most service participants are early adults (32-45 years) (64.7%), have higher education (50%) and most do not work (71%). Regarding stress levels, before training stress levels were mostly in the moderate stress category (74%) and after training stress levels were in the mild stress category (82%). Meanwhile, for the level of mindfulness, before counseling most were in the moderate mindfulness category (70.5%) and after counseling most were in the high mindfulness category (88.2%).
