Abstract

This study examines the potential for enhancing character education in Aceh Province by integrating local wisdom, with the objective of gaining insight into the implementation process and the factors that may influence it. Qualitative methods, including interviews, observations, and documentation, were employed to identify key strategies, which included community socialisation, fostering positive habits, integrating local wisdom into curricula, implementing policies, and allocating financial resources. The presence of Taman Pendidikan Alquran (TPQ), taklim assemblies, dedicated teachers, regulations pertaining to local wisdom, Islamic law, historical and cultural coherence, and robust institutional coordination serve as key supporting factors. However, a number of challenges have been identified which impede effective implementation, including the location of Aceh on the border, the influence of diverse tribal cultures, the impact of external cultures, population mobility, environmental factors, the impact of the pandemic, and the lack of standardised curricula and resources.

Abstract

The aim of this study reveals the concept of Islamic integrated education and its implementation at Ar-Rohmah Islamic boarding school Hidayatullah Malang. The method used in this study is qualitative, while data analysis uses qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of the data analysis show that integrated education at Ar-Rohmah has a solid foundation from the Al-Qur’an and Al-Hadith as well as the views of the Muslim scholars. The implementation of Islamic integrated education at this institution is manifested explicitly in the organization’s mission statement, namely to carry out tauhid-based integral education that combines tarbiyah ruhiyah (spiritual education), aqliyah (intellectual), and jismiyah (physical). This mission is a realization of Ar-Rohmah’s vision, which is to create excellent and competitive educational institutions to produce a generation that is cautious, intelligent, and independent. The vision and mission are translated into the educational goals of Ar-Rohmah, which aims to shape humans according to the vision and mission of their creation, namely as a servant of Allah (‘abdullah) and His vicegerent (khalifah) with the following characteristics: first, to have a strong spiritual mentality- aspects of ruhiyah. Second, have the knowledge and breadth of insight into life -aspects of aqliyah. Third, have expertise and skills- aspects of jismiyah. This institution also implements an integrated curriculum through a combination of the national curriculum (K13), the religious curriculum (Diniyah Khas), and the Hidayatullah Specific Parenting Curriculum (Kurikulum Kepengasuhan Khas). As well as integrated between formal schools and religious schools (madrasah diniyah).

Abstract

The objective of this study is to ascertain and delineate the manner in which the concept of tolerance is understood and practised by the diverse population of Kedungrejo Village, Rowokangkung District, Lumajang Regency. The village community is a society with a high level of plurality, characterised by the coexistence of diverse religious cultures and sentiments. Nevertheless, there is a clear indication of harmony and mutual respect in everyday life. The village community does not view differences as a cause for conflict; rather, they are regarded as a source of diversity and richness. Consequently, the village community engages in activities and pursuits collectively, irrespective of the discrepancies that exist. This study employs a qualitative approach. The research paradigm is phenomenological or interpretive. A qualitative approach is a paradigm of natural research, which entails developing a theory by drawing upon data derived from the real world. The research location was Kedungrejo Village, Rowokangkung district, Lumajang Regency. The findings of this study indicate that all religions espouse absolutist claims, whether Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, or Judaism. Particularist-subjective monotheistic claims are likely to exacerbate inter-religious conflict, particularly when multiple strong and particularistic religious organisations coexist.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to develop an evaluation model for the affective aspect of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) in Madrasah Aliyah and Pondok Pesantren. This is a developmental research project that employs a mixed-methods approach (quantitative and qualitative), comprising three phases: pre-development, development, and dissemination. The model comprises two components: a guide for the evaluation model and the evaluation instruments, which consist of questionnaires, observation sheets and self-evaluation questionnaires. The validity of the evaluation instruments was determined through the application of expert judgement, while reliability was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha. The construct validity of the instruments, including the questionnaires and observation sheets, was determined through the application of Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The findings revealed that the IRE affective evaluation model (AEIRE) is constituted of three principal components. The instruments demonstrated a satisfactory fit with the Input, Process, and Output components. The model was deemed to be effective for use in Madrasah Aliyah and Pondok Pesantren, and the guide for its application was well received by IRE teachers.

Abstract

This article examines the introduction of special Fiqh textbooks in religious schools to increase religious tolerance and curb religious extremism among the students. This research selected 29 of 179 articles based on inclusion and exclusion criteria such as period, document type, and source. PRISMA was used as a guide for article selection in this study and Lens.org, Eric, and Garuda as literature search databases. The results of research through SLR showed that Fiqh learning methods with innovative approaches can lead to improved learning achievements for students. Fiqh instruction focusing on multicultural communities can foster more tolerant and moderate attitudes among students who learn to respect religious differences, widen their intellectual horizons, be more critical of their own views, and are willing to enter into a constructive dialogue with other communities. This approach can improve their ability to find solutions to multidimensional problems. This integral-holistic method also supports academic, spiritual, emotional, social, and creative aspects of learning how to interact in a multicultural environment .

Abstract

The study of text is of paramount importance for the comprehension of scientific disciplines. The principal objective of interdisciplinary text studies is to gain insights into texts from a cross-disciplinary perspective. The analysis of structure and discourse enables the exploration of analytical tools and concepts pertinent to both fields, rendering them applicable to interdisciplinary texts. This research employs qualitative methods and a library approach, utilising structure and discourse analysis. The method of data presentation is both descriptive and analytical. This approach also permits the provision of a comprehensive and perspicacious overview, thereby facilitating a more profound comprehension of the information by the intended audience. The objective of this study is to identify and address shortcomings in the analysis of texts, and to present a range of approaches to this analysis. The analysis of discourse and structure are techniques that can be employed to analyse a range of phenomena, including scientific, social and other phenomena. The efficacy of these techniques is contingent upon the language and text used. The text structure can be elucidated implicitly, textually, or contextually, depending on the requirements of each scientific discipline. The results demonstrate that structure can be a beneficial tool for interdisciplinary text studies and that there is value in paying attention to structural systems, cohesion, and applying syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic study. Additionally, analysing texts about discursive practices and other relevant knowledge can also benefit from discourse analysis.

Abstract

The objective of this article is to examine the strategies employed by the school to enhance its reputation and stimulate public interest. The responsibility for determining the most appropriate educational establishment for a child falls upon the prospective parents of students. It is reasonable to posit that quality schools, including those at the elementary level, will be in demand within the community. Furthermore, educational institutions that have a positive reputation and espouse values such as Islamic education, which offers a distinct advantage in terms of general and religious education curricula, are likely to be well-regarded. The implementation of an Islamic full-day school curriculum has been demonstrated to be an effective strategy for fostering a positive image of the school and attracting public interest. It is therefore of interest to examine the success of the primary school work.  This research employs a qualitative approach, specifically a case study, and data are collected directly from the natural setting. The findings indicate that the school undertook five initiatives to enhance its image: (1) promotion to increase awareness of the school and its offerings, (2) competitive advantage in service quality, (3) management of facilities and infrastructure, (4) management of teachers, and (5) curriculum development. These efforts have been effective in generating public interest in the school.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the strategies used in cultivating pluralism awareness through Islamic Education at Bumi Damai Foundation, Yogyakarta. This research uses qualitative research methods with a case study approach. Interviews were conducted with caregivers, heads of institutions, and teachers. All interviews are recorded and then transcripts of interview results are provided. Data analysis uses 3 stages: data reduction, data display, and drawing/verifying data conclusions. This study found that the Bumi Damai Foundation in implementing a strategy to foster pluralism awareness through Islamic Education implements several programs, namely: the tahfidz program with emphasis on memorization of the context of pluralism contained in the Qur’an, Da’wah Al-Muhibbin studying several areas from different cultures and religions, applying the motto Hubbul Wathon Minal Iman, visits and social services in several non-Muslim places of worship,  and emphasized memorizing and deepening the contents of Asmaul Husna. This research contributes to scarcity studies that uncover strategies and methods for cultivating awareness of pluralism within Social Welfare Institutions. Similar research is appropriate to uncover strategies of Islamic forms of education used to foster awareness of pluralism in social institutions.
