Abstract

This research provides a deeper understanding of significant differences in educational approaches and their impact on human resource development in both Koreas. Education is crucial and a primary focus in every country's issues, as the level of education often determines a nation's advancement. The majority of countries mandate their residents to experience and acquire education within a specified timeframe. South Korea and North Korea originated from one country, but the influence of two major world blocs led to the division of Korea into two parts, the South and the North. This study aims to compare the education systems between South Korea and North Korea. South Korea, embracing liberalism and employing a democratic governance system, has managed to establish itself as one of the countries with the best education systems globally, contributing to its status as an advanced nation. On the other hand, North Korea, adhering to communism and employing an authoritarian government system, restricts social mobility and knowledge dissemination. The research methodology employed is qualitative, utilizing a descriptive comparative approach through literature review. The findings reveal that education in South Korea is highly organized, ranging from institutions like KICE to programs initiated by KOICA. Human resources from South Korea tend to excel in various sectors. Meanwhile, North Korea's education system focuses on ideology, with a lack of academic freedom impacting the quality of human resources. Consequently, human resources from North Korea are categorized as low quality. In an effort to improve the quality of education, it must go hand in hand with the improvement of the human resources' quality in a country so that the people living within it can have a decent life.

Abstract

Innovation in learning can be done by changing the paradigm of mathematics teaching and inspiring teachers to provide alternative learning environment settings and gain new experiences. The flipped classroom (FC) is currently an innovative pedagogical approach that has the opportunity to transform mathematics learning in the future. The tasks given by teachers, teacher feedback and scaffolding, as well as the changing teaching and learning environment at FC provide a new paradigm for mathematics teachers in learning to meet student characteristics that are different from previous times. The aim of this research is to theoretically and conceptually reveal the Flipped Classroom as a learning environment setting in mathematics learning with a blended form of learning that reverses the traditional classroom learning environment by delivering teaching content, via video or other sources outside the classroom. This research uses a conceptual literature review with a descriptive approach. FC-based learning environment settings, students will watch learning material via videos on online platforms or other, students can collaborate in discussions or individually, or carry out experiments at home and be actively involved in applying concepts in the classroom guided by a teacher. Well-designed FC offers great opportunities to improve students' mathematical thinking and understanding. In this regard, FC is recommended for teachers to use as a setting for a mathematics learning environment in the future, which is appropriate to the characteristics of students in the digital era.

Abstract

The curriculum is a very important part in organizing learning. The curriculum in Indonesia itself has undergone many changes to adapt learning to current developments. The independent curriculum, as a new curriculum in education, focuses on increasing effectiveness and flexibility compared to the previous curriculum, which allows learning to be adjusted according to the interests, talents, potential and needs of each student. This research aims to identify challenges and useful strategies in teaching biology using the independent curriculum. The research method involves direct observation and interviews with biology teachers. The research results show that there are several challenges for biology teachers, such as differences in student abilities, lack of active participation in class, and too many students in one class. To overcome this, teachers can use strategies such as assessing students' abilities not only through tests, providing initial worksheets to assess students' abilities, presenting important material if class time is limited, and utilizing existing educational technology. Therefore, teachers have a very important role in achieving learning goals in the independent curriculum
