Abstract

Mekar Mulio Village, located in Sei Balai District, Batu Bara Regency, North Sumatra, has a lot of agricultural potential, one of which is the lemongrass plant which can be used to make natural mosquito repellent products. However, there are problems related to people's understanding of the existing economic potential and a lack of interest and skills in product diversification. To solve this problem, the KKN 86 group conducted outreach on making natural mosquito repellent using lemongrass. The aim of this outreach is to increase the knowledge and skills of the community, especially PKK women, on how to use lemongrass as an innovative and environmentally friendly product. Socialization about making anti-mosquito medicine from lemongrass was carried out through lectures, discussions and direct demonstrations. Harmonization between religion and culture focuses on creating a harmonious relationship between the two in practicing religion and cultural values in the midst of a group or society. Indonesia has a variety of religions, races, tribes, customs, cultures and others that make Indonesia a country in which there are various uniqueness and relationships between differences. Pulau Banyak Village is one of the villages in Tanjung Pura District, Langkat Regency. Melayu is the majority tribe in Pulau Banyak Village and Islam is the majority religion adhered to by the people of Pulau Banyak Village. The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of religious moderation in Pulau Banyak Village. This research uses a qualitative method, which means the research is conducted naturally and uses research procedures as they are. Pulau Banyak Village is one example of a village that implements religious moderation. Villagers often embed Islamic values in their culture so that Islam and culture become two things that are always related. For example, the making of Ashura porridge is a form of implementation of religious moderation in Pulau Banyak Village. It is also not uncommon for villagers to integrate Islamic values into cultural practices, such as wedding ceremonies, religious festivals, or cultural celebrations that are given religious meaning. Traditional Melayu clothing is also an example of the application of Islamic values in culture that maintains modesty, covers the aurat and gives an elegant and good impression in it.

Introduction to New Student Campus Life (PKKMB) is a crucial component in preparing students to face academic and professional challenges. This activity outlines the implementation of an integrated PKKMB program at the Dwi Farma Pharmacy Academy in Bukittinggi for new students in the D-III Pharmacy program. The main innovation of this program lies in the combination of three key elements: comprehensive academic preparation, guest lectures from experienced pharmacy practitioners, and intensive personal development training. The implementation methods include curriculum orientation sessions, interactive discussions with industry experts, and soft skills workshops. Program evaluation is conducted through pre-tests and post-tests, as well as participant satisfaction surveys. Results show a significant improvement in students' understanding of the D-III Pharmacy curriculum structure, insights into various career prospects in the pharmaceutical field, and mastery of soft skills relevant to industry demands. This integrated PKKMB model proves effective in bridging the gap between academic expectations and professional realities. The success of this program can serve as a reference for other pharmaceutical vocational education institutions in designing orientation programs that are not only informative but also inspirational and industry-oriented. Recommendations for further development include involving alumni as mentors and closer collaboration with industry partners

Abstract

The "English in Workspace" program is a community service initiative organized by the Tadris Bahasa Inggris (TBIG) program in collaboration with KKN Merdeka 2024 at Universitas KH. Mukhtar Syafa'at Banyuwangi. This two-day seminar aimed to provide students with insights into the importance of English proficiency in professional settings. By involving alumni with successful careers in various industries such as education, content creation, and international business, the seminar offered practical strategies for integrating English skills into the workplace. Through need assessments, it was identified that students lacked awareness of how English could enhance their career prospects. The seminar addressed this gap by presenting real-world applications of English in fields like business negotiation, content editing, and corporate communication. The results showed a significant increase in students’ motivation and readiness to improve their English skills. This initiative highlights the role of academic institutions in supporting the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi, particularly in preparing students for the competitive global job market

Abstract

This community service is based on the high number of dengue fever in Sragen district. The endemic problem of dengue fever in Sragen Regency can be reduced by maximizing mosquito eradication efforts and maximizing the role of the function of mosquito larvae monitors (Juru Pemantau Jentik/Jumantik). Education program about mosquito larvae monitors from school children was chosen to increase the number of mosquito larvae monitors with students of SMP Negeri 5 Sragen as the target. This community service was carried out in January 2023 with 100 participants consisting of 65 women and 35 men. This activity was carried out by providing counseling through video screenings. The results of the community service illustrate the average value of knowledge after the counseling, which was 83.38 with a median of 84.00. It is hoped that the Jumantik counseling activities for students can raise awareness and increase knowledge so that efforts to monitor mosquito larvae in Sragen Regency increase so that a movement to eradicate dengue fever arises.
