Abstract

The FEB-UT National Community Service Program (PkM) is here to answer the real challenges faced by PKK women in Pondok Cabe Udik Village. Based on the needs analysis, three root problems were revealed: limited practical skills, lack of innovation in creating business opportunities, and weak foundations of family financial management. As a solution, the PkM team carries a comprehensive strategy for women's economic empowerment. The program does not only stop at awareness, but also steps into hands-on training and ongoing mentoring to turn potential into a real home-based venture. The program is carried out with a focus on three main activities, namely training on processing used cooking oil waste into value-added products such as candles and soap, home business development training through shoe washing services, and education and consulting on family financial management. The training is carried out in stages through presentations, demonstrations, workshops, and interactive discussions. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in the aspects of knowledge, skills, and motivation of participants to develop a household-based small business. Participants also began to understand the importance of environmentally friendly household waste management and apply green economy principles in daily activities. In addition, this activity strengthens the participants' ability to manage family finances independently and efficiently. Overall, PkM activities have a positive impact on improving economic welfare, environmental awareness, and social independence of participants, and are expected to become a model of sustainable community empowerment at the local level.

Abstract

The increasing number of Indonesian migrant children in Malaysia has created new challenges in religious education, especially in Qur'an reading skills which are influenced by the linguistic interference of the Malay language. In the PKBM PNF KBRI in Kuala Lumpur, vocal errors such as kasrah shifting to e and dhammah changing to o, as well as inaccuracies in makhraj became recurring problems. This service aims to improve the vocal accuracy and makhraj of migrant children through the consistent application of the Faṣoḥatī method in an unstable learning environment due to volunteer rotation. Using a service learning approach, the service was carried out for three weeks through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, field notes, and daily reflection which were analyzed through reduction, theme categorization, and source triangulation. The results showed a gradual improvement in vocal stability, makhraj accuracy, and reading rhythm. Children begin to distinguish the i and u sounds more precisely, improve the articulation of the letters of the throat, and show the courage to read in front of the class. Social impact is also seen through increased classroom collaboration and student self-awareness in correcting mistakes. The uniqueness of this program lies in the application of Faṣoḥatī in the context of the migrant community, which successfully functions as a technical method as well as a reflective social space that fosters phonetic courage and independence. This service recommends extending the duration, consistency of methods between volunteers, the preparation of standard modules, and family involvement to maintain the sustainability of results.

Abstract

This community service program (PKM) is an integral part of the Thematic Community Service Program (KKN) carried out by lecturers and students of the Seventh Semester of the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD) at STKIP Citra Bakti. This PkM focused on the importance of providing and utilizing reading materials in elementary schools that not only meet child-friendly criteria (appropriate for age, language, and developmental psychology) but are also based on specific local culture. Specifically, this activity is directed at identifying reading materials that integrate the values and heritage of the Ngadhu Bhaga Ethnic Group, which is the dominant cultural identity in the Bajawa District area. This activity was carried out in seven elementary schools in the Bajawa District, Ngada Regency. The approach used was a qualitative approach with a descriptive survey type. Data collection techniques were carried out through 3 techniques, namely collection inventory, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. Based on the identification results, it can be concluded that the availability of reading materials in elementary schools in Bajawa District, Ngada Regency, is still not optimal in supporting the strengthening of local culture-based literacy. Child-friendly reading materials that explicitly highlight Bajawa local values, stories, and wisdom were found to be very minimal, which resulted in hampering efforts to contextualize learning and strengthen students' cultural identity.

Abstract

This reading literacy assistance program is carried out at the PKBM PNF KRI Embassy in Kuala Lumpur with the aim of improving the basic literacy skills of Indonesian migrant children through the application of the puzzle gamification method. This activity is motivated by low reading skills, vocabulary comprehension, and children's learning motivation which is limited by the lack of access to formal education. The mentoring was carried out for three weeks by applying an educational game-based service learning approach. The learning process is focused on five aspects, namely letter and sound recognition, syllable preparation, word reading, reading and intonation fluency, and learning attitude and motivation. The results of the activity showed a significant improvement in reading ability at the end of the program. In addition to cognitive improvement, participants also showed development in motivation, confidence, and teamwork skills. Thus, the puzzle gamification method has proven to be effective in improving the reading literacy of migrant children and can be used as an alternative learning strategy in non-formal education.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively analyze the strategic role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Sawahlunto City in preserving Sawahlunto Charcoal Batik, a cultural product born from the innovation and mining history of this ancient city. Charcoal Batik is positioned not merely as a creative economic commodity, but as a medium for cultural inheritance rich in symbols of beauty, local philosophy, and national identity. Using descriptive qualitative methods, this study outlines the role of MSMEs as producers of identity, guardians of philosophy, and agents of skills regeneration. Key findings indicate that MSMEs, supported by government intervention and empowerment programs such as the Community Service Program (KKN), have successfully transformed the dark history of mining into a proud cultural heritage. The success of MSMEs in preserving motifs inspired by the Ombilin Sawahlunto Coal Mining Heritage (WTBOS) emphasizes their crucial role as pillars of cultural-economic preservation, significantly improving welfare while maintaining local identity.

Abstract

This community service program aims to strengthen the role of Integrated Health Post (Posyandu ILP) cadres in child protection through legal psychology education in Srigonco Village, Malang Regency, Indonesia. Posyandu cadres serve as frontline community agents in monitoring child health and welfare; however, their understanding of children’s rights, legal protection, and psychological assistance for child abuse victims remains limited. This condition has contributed to the low level of early detection and reporting of child abuse cases at the village level. To address these challenges, this program implemented a series of educational interventions, including legal counseling on child protection laws, workshops on early detection and handling of child abuse cases, and training on psychological approaches for assisting child victims. The activities were conducted using participatory methods such as lectures, interactive discussions, case simulations, and role-playing. The effectiveness of the program was evaluated through pre-test and post-test assessments, observation, and participant feedback. The results indicate a significant improvement in cadres’ knowledge and skills regarding children’s rights, legal reporting mechanisms, and appropriate psychological assistance techniques. The cadres demonstrated increased confidence in identifying signs of abuse, providing initial support to victims, and coordinating with relevant authorities. Additionally, this program contributed to strengthening community awareness through educational campaigns involving local stakeholders. Overall, this community service initiative successfully enhanced the capacity of Posyandu cadres as agents of change in promoting child protection at the grassroots level. The program also reflects the synergy between academic institutions and local communities in creating a safer and more child-friendly social environment. The main output of this program is a scientific article targeted for publication in a nationally accredited journal.

Abstract

Social mapping is a crucial instrument in village development planning based on the real conditions of the community. This study aims to describe the results of social mapping as the basis for sustainable village development planning in Srigonco Village, Malang Regency. This research employed a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews with 42 respondents consisting of village leaders and community members. Social mapping was conducted based on nine pillars, namely socio-cultural, socio-economic, education, health, law, community empowerment, entrepreneurship (MSMEs), women-children-disabilities, as well as environment and infrastructure. The findings indicate that Srigonco Village has considerable potential in the agricultural, livestock, fisheries, tourism, and MSME sectors; however, these potentials have not been optimally managed due to limited human resource capacity, weak village economic institutions, low legal awareness, and the suboptimal role of the Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes). In addition, disparities in access to education, limited empowerment of women and vulnerable groups, and the lack of integrated management of the environment and village infrastructure remain significant challenges. Based on the SWOT analysis, the main strengths of the village lie in community openness and strong support from the village government for change, while the major challenges include low economic welfare and limited community capacity. This social mapping serves as a foundational basis for formulating sustainable village development strategies oriented toward strengthening human resources, optimizing local potential, reinforcing MSMEs, and improving participatory-based village governance.
