Abstract

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a vital role in national economic development; however, many MSME actors struggle to compete due to poor product packaging quality. This community service program aimed to enhance the packaging design capabilities of MSME actors through structured training using smartphone applications. A total of 25 MSME participants from diverse product sectors completed a two-day, practice-based training program covering design principles, smartphone application usage, and regulatory labeling requirements. Pre- and post-training assessments, facilitator observations, and focus group discussions were employed to evaluate program outcomes. Results indicated that 84% of participant designs achieved market-ready or near-market-ready quality, with average knowledge scores improving by 67% and self-efficacy scores increasing by 74% relative to pre-training baselines. Participants reported strong intentions to continue using design applications independently and expressed confidence in the commercial potential of their redesigned packaging. The findings demonstrate that smartphone-based packaging design training is an effective, accessible, and cost-efficient approach to improving MSME product competitiveness and increasing sales value, with significant implications for digital empowerment and creative economy development.

Abstract

Social foundations rely heavily on public trust and long-term donor relationships to sustain their programs. However, many foundations still experience limitations in donor communication, service management, and volunteer competence, reducing the effectiveness of donor engagement. This community service program aimed to strengthen human resource capacity through telemarketing training to improve the quality of donor services across three partner social foundations. The program employed a participatory approach consisting of preliminary observation, needs assessment, interactive training, simulation, mentoring, and evaluation. The activities involved administrators and volunteers who directly interacted with donors in daily fundraising services. The implementation focused on communication techniques, ethical donor services, relationship management, and practical telemarketing skills. The program results show that participants demonstrate improved communication competence, greater confidence in interacting with donors, and a better understanding of structured donor service management. The participating foundations also begin to adopt more systematic service practices and strengthen internal coordination in maintaining donor relationships. Overall, telemarketing training serves as an effective strategy for enhancing volunteer capacity while supporting sustainable donor engagement within social foundations. Continuous mentoring and periodic evaluation remain essential to maintain the long-term impact of the program. Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a vital role in promoting regional economic growth, creating employment opportunities, and improving community welfare. However, many business owners continue to face challenges in digital marketing, product identity development, business management, and market expansion, limiting their competitiveness. This community service program aimed to enhance the capacity of MSME owners through training and mentoring on digital marketing, product branding, business innovation, and business management across three partner MSMEs. The program employed a participatory approach consisting of needs assessment, interactive training, implementation mentoring, hands-on practice, and program evaluation. Participants actively engaged in developing digital promotional media, strengthening product identity, utilizing social media, and improving business management practices. The results demonstrated improved participants' understanding of digital marketing strategies, enhanced ability to utilize digital platforms for promotion, greater awareness of the importance of product branding, and strengthened capacity to manage their businesses in a more systematic manner. The program also encouraged MSMEs to adopt more structured promotional strategies, enabling them to expand market reach and improve business competitiveness sustainably.

Abstract

The development of technology and the demand of 21-st century skills encourage the need for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning in order to develop students’ conceptual understanding, learning motivation, and critical thinking. However, the implementation of STEM learning in schools face problems such as limited integrated, interactive and practice-based learning activities. Therefore, this community service was carried out to give STEM learning through science material provision, technology demonstrations, mathematical simulations using the Desmos application, and simple engineering practices to Harapan High School students in Sungailiat. The activity was held using practice method, demonstration, hands-on practice, and mentoring involving 19 grade 10 students. Evaluation was conducted using questionnaires on understanding, learning motivation, and participant satisfaction which were then analyzed through Method of Successive Interval (MSI) conversion, validity test, reliability test, and Wilcoxon test. Furthermore, based the Wilcoxon test results showed a p value < 0.05 for all indicators, which indicates a increase on students’ conceptual understanding of STEM and learning motivation after participating in the program. Thus, this community service activity has successfully provided an interactive and applicable learning experience, and has the potential to become a STEM learning model that can be developed sustainably in schools.
