Abstract

The community service activity conducted in Toapaya Selatan aimed to introduce an innovative planting and fertilizer applicator tool based on PVC pipes as an appropriate technology. This program was motivated by the persistence of manual farming practices that require excessive labor, time, and costs, while often resulting in uneven fertilizer distribution that reduces crop productivity. The implementation method adopted a participatory approach, consisting of preparation, counseling, demonstrations, field practice, and evaluation involving local farmers. Training sessions included hands-on practice to ensure that participants not only understood the theoretical aspects but also acquired practical skills in using and assembling the tool. The results indicate that the application of the pipe-based tool improved labor efficiency, reduced fertilization time, and enhanced the uniformity of fertilizer distribution on plantation land. These improvements were directly reflected in better crop maintenance and more sustainable use of resources. Farmers’ high enthusiasm and active participation demonstrated the success of this simple yet impactful technology transfer. Nevertheless, several challenges were encountered, including limited technical understanding among some participants, difficulties in replicating the tool independently, and restricted availability of tool-making materials in the local market. Overall, this innovation has the potential to contribute significantly to increasing local agricultural productivity. Further training, continuous mentoring, and institutional as well as financial support from the village government are strongly recommended to ensure the sustainability, scalability, and long-term adoption of this appropriate technology.

Abstract

This community service program in Gunung Kijang Village, Bintan Regency, Riau Islands Province, was designed to strengthen local empowerment through the synergy of education, economy, agriculture, and social participation. The activities consisted of four initiatives: workshops on Canva-based learning media for teachers, digital marketing training and social media account creation for MSMEs, participatory mapping of challenges and potentials of local food businesses, and smart farming education using soil moisture sensors to introduce efficient irrigation technology. The results showed significant achievements across sectors. In education, teachers improved their technological skills and created interactive media that enhanced student motivation. In the economic sector, MSMEs adopted digital promotion strategies, leading to wider market reach and sales. The participatory mapping revealed obstacles such as licensing, packaging, and financial literacy, while also identifying opportunities for product diversification using local resources. In agriculture, farmers were introduced to water-saving irrigation technology that improved efficiency and supported environmentally friendly practices. On the social side, community institutions such as PKK, Karang Taruna, and farmer groups played an important role in strengthening solidarity and expanding collaboration. Overall, the program proved that integrating digital literacy, technological innovation, and community participation can accelerate rural independence while fostering sustainable welfare for island communities.

Abstract

This study discusses the level of participation of elderly people in Mantang Baru Village in routine health checks. The main objective is to see how active they are in participating and what makes them interested or reluctant to attend health checks. This study uses a quantitative approach with the aim of measuring the level of participation of elderly people in health check activities in Mantang Baru Village. Data was collected using direct surveys of each elderly person's home, which contained questions related to the frequency of health check visits, motivation, and barriers to health checkups for the elderly. The population in this study was all elderly people aged 60 years and above who reside in Mantang Baru Village. The results showed that most elderly people were quite diligent in attending health checkups because they realized the importance of maintaining their physical condition. Factors such as family support, ease of access to health check locations, and their knowledge about health significantly influence their decision to participate. In conclusion, if health education and facilities can be further improved, elderly participation will certainly increase, thereby helping to maintain their health better. The role of health cadres is very significant in encouraging elderly participation through a personal approach and continuous education.

Abstract

Improving caregiver literacy regarding early childhood development is a strategic step to ensure optimal child growth and development. This educational activity was conducted at the Mawar Integrated Health Post (Posyandu Mawar), Tampingan Village, Boja District, involving 20 caregivers as active participants. The series of activities were systematically arranged, including a pre-test to determine the level of initial understanding, counseling through a lecture method accompanied by comprehensive material delivery, interactive discussions that allowed participants to exchange experiences, practice of child development stimulation as a form of direct skills, and a post-test to assess improvements in learning outcomes. The analysis results showed that the educational activity had a significant impact on improving caregiver literacy. The average pre-test score of 53.25 (SD = 9.54) increased to 69.60 (SD = 10.30) in the post-test. The average difference of 16.35 (SD = 5.84) with a 95% confidence interval between 13.62–19.08 indicated a significant increase. The paired t-test yielded a value of t(19) = 12.515 with p < 0.05, confirming a significant difference between the scores before and after the program. The percentage increase of 30.7% indicates the effectiveness of the applied educational method. The recommendation from this activity is the need to develop an educational program that is carried out in a sustainable and structured manner, accompanied by mentoring involving health workers, PAUD educators, and support from the village government, so that caregiver literacy can continue to increase and optimal child growth and development can be guaranteed from an early age.

Abstract

The community service team observed that a common issue faced by students in partner schools is difficulty focusing during lessons, largely due to distractions from gadgets, particularly social media. Many students become fixated on social media applications, ignoring ongoing lessons. This concern has prompted our partner schools to organize interactive discussions and provide information on how to use social media wisely and manage time between learning and gadget use. And the goal of our community service was to raise awareness and provide training on responsible social media use, prevent the impact of social media on adolescent brain development (brain rot), and improve students' focus and thinking skills. The methods used in this community service included: (a) analyzing the needs and problems, (b) observing and understanding the policies of the partner schools in addressing these issues, and (c) conducting activities that involved socializing responsible social media use and brain development training. The community service was conducted on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at MA Bina Mulia, Pasir Putih Village, Sawangan District, Depok, West Java, from 08:00 to 10:00 WIB. Abstract

The use of chemical pesticides in modern agriculture in Indonesia has a negative impact on the environment and health. To address this issue, students from the 24th Community Service Program (KKN) of Raja Ali Haji Maritime University (UMRAH) held a training session on making plant-based pesticides from papaya leaves in Kota Baru Village, Bintan. This activity aimed to provide environmentally friendly and easy-to-apply pest control solutions to local farmer groups. The training involved agricultural extension workers from the Bintan Regency Food Security and Agriculture Office as resource persons. The results of this training are expected to increase farmers' knowledge and skills in utilizing papaya leaves as natural pesticides, reducing the use of chemical pesticides, and realizing more sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture in Kota Baru Village. Despite obstacles in community participation, this activity succeeded in sparking farmers' interest in applying plant-based pesticides in their crop cultivation.

Abstract

This community service program was designed to empower the women’s group PKK RT 01 RW 08 in Tembalang, Semarang, through education and innovation in processing used cooking oil into eco-friendly floor cleaner. Household cooking oil waste, commonly known as “jelantah,” is often discarded and contributes to environmental pollution, while in fact it can be reused as a valuable resource. The program aimed not only to provide technical skills but also to increase environmental awareness and promote sustainable household practices. The implementation took place over three months (June–August 2025) using a participatory approach that included socialization, training, mentoring, and evaluation. During the activities, participants were introduced to the principles of green chemistry, practiced step-by-step floor cleaner production, and learned packaging and digital marketing techniques. As a result, the group successfully produced 65 bottles of “Lely Eco Floor” cleaner (260% of the initial target), distributed them for household use, and established an environmental movement group named “Lely Bersih Lestari.” Pre- and post-test scores indicated significant improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills. The program brought multiple impacts: reducing oil waste pollution, enhancing social cohesion, and opening opportunities for micro-scale entrepreneurship. Overall, this activity demonstrates how simple technology and community engagement can support sustainable development and women’s empowerment at the grassroots level.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (KKN) in Kampung Kelam Pagi, Tanjungpinang City, focused on strengthening Mencalok MSMEs through a rebranding strategy. A participatory approach was used to engage the community at every stage, from observation, planning, and implementation to evaluation. The activities included the creation of a new logo, product packaging improvements, and the facilitation of Business Identification Number (NIB) registration for MSME actors. The results showed significant improvements in the product's visual identity, business legality, and market value of Mencalok in local and regional markets. Rebranding also provided additional benefits, such as legal recognition, access to government programs, financing opportunities, and the promotion of traditional culinary culture. The program empowered women by enhancing their managerial skills and fostering economic independence. In addition to these efforts, digital marketing strategies were introduced, helping the MSMEs reach a broader audience and improve their online presence. Product diversification was also recommended to strengthen competitiveness and ensure long-term business sustainability. These findings highlight that rebranding is not merely a visual change but a strategic tool that enhances the economic, social, and cultural value of traditional MSMEs. By integrating modern business practices with local cultural heritage, this initiative not only improved business outcomes but also contributed to the preservation and promotion of regional traditions.

Abstract

Kampung Kelam Pagi, Dompak Village, focused on mapping the local road network as a foundation for sustainable development planning. The data collection process combined observation, interviews, and digital recording, resulting in both technical data (such as road length, width, and condition) and social data (including road naming conventions and patterns of community usage). The findings indicate notable disparities in infrastructure quality, with main roads mostly paved, while smaller neighborhood roads remain unpaved and lack adequate street lighting. This disparity in infrastructure quality highlights the need for targeted interventions to address the basic infrastructure needs of the community. In addition, the study emphasizes the importance of community involvement in the mapping process, which not only strengthened the social value of the maps but also fostered collective awareness of the importance of spatial data in village development. The discussion further underscores that local data availability is crucial for more participatory, inclusive, and community-oriented village planning, where decisions are based on accurate, locally sourced information. This study demonstrates that KKN activities do more than just provide technical data; they also help reinforce social capacity, empowering local communities to actively contribute to sustainable development efforts. Ultimately, such initiatives contribute to creating more resilient and well-informed communities that can participate in and benefit from development planning.

Abstract

The Mosque Youth Organization (REMAS) plays an important and strategic role as an agent of social and religious change among the younger generation. This study aims to improve the governance of the Mosque Youth Organization in Blitar City to be more professional and Islamic through the synergy of public administration and Islamic values. The main problems faced include a lack of coordination with the mosque administrators, a lack of effective leadership, and low community participation, which are influenced by internal factors such as the busyness of members and external factors such as limited funds and facilities. The method used is a participatory approach through needs analysis with 20 REMAS and mosque administrators, followed by training on professional Islamic governance, management skills, and evaluation assistance for its implementation. The training was held at the Al Mugi Barokah Mosque in Blitar City in September 2025, in collaboration with the Indonesian Mosque Youth Communication Agency (BKPRMI) as a stakeholder. The results of the community service showed significant improvements, namely the formation of a clear organizational structure, community-based work programs such as skills training and innovative social activities, and effective coordination with mosque administrators through regular forums to increase community participation. This approach integrates good governance principles such as transparency, accountability, and documentation using Trello or Google Sheets with Islamic values such as deliberation, trustworthiness, benevolence, and the example set by the Prophet Muhammad SAW. These activities contribute to sustainable social transformation among mosque youth, strengthening their role as agents of socio-religious change, although challenges such as limited resources, internal conflicts, and slow technological adaptation still need to be addressed through regular monitoring and further technological integration.
