Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the skills of people with disabilities in the Batik Ciprat Langitan community in utilizing digital technology through the e-IM3 edu application. Situational analysis shows that the group of people with disabilities who are members of the Sheltered Workshop Peduli Sambung Roso already have good batik skills but are hampered in production management, recording work results, and online product marketing. The activity methods include socialization, application usage training, practical assistance, and evaluation of digital skill improvement. After receiving e-IM3 edu training, which includes the concept of color mixing and the decision-making system regarding which colors to use for batik production, the activity results show an 80% increase in participants' digital skills and an increase in the quality of production and marketing of ciprat batik products. People with disabilities who initially only mixed basic colors in inconsistent measurements or by estimation, became more careful and consistent so that the resulting color in one production run can be consistent. This training has a positive impact on the economic independence of people with disabilities and strengthens the model of inclusive technology-based social enterprises.

Abstract

Community service program “Teaching Math with Humor” came from government appeal to strengthen this subject since elementary school and has objective to answer the problem of the high anxiety of students regarding mathematics subject, also to increase teachers’ knowledge of humor in the class. IHIK3 as partner has many references about humor in the education, but has obstacle in translations, also has not yet have material that special designed for elementary and secondary school. On the other side, BPMP Province of DKI Jakarta had identified teachers’ needs of teaching method that more joyful, humanist and relevant with deep learning principal. Based on these things, LSPR Institute of Communication and Business collaborates with IHIK3 and BPMP DKI Jakarta design program with name “Formula of Teaching Math x Humor”. The program implementation method consists of 3 stages: 1) Preparation: compiling the materials of the training and evaluation instruments of pre-test and post-test; 2) Implementation: hybrid training for math teachers with 2 primary sessions, “Formula of Teaching with Humor” and “Formula of Witty Math”; 3) Evaluation: activity result report. The evaluations were conducted through quantitative descriptive analysis to pre-test and post-test results. The results of the activity show significantly increasing in knowledge, skills and teachers’ ethics aspect on using humor when teaching math. The comprehension of the participants regarding insert humor techniques was increasing from 13,1% to 73,2%, while the ability to mention about humor formula and demonstrating educative humor examples also has a substantial increase. Most of the participants (94,6%) stated that the training had fulfilled their expectation and gave new insights to create learning that is more joyful. This program shows that humor can be a pedagogic strategy to difficult subject such as mathematics. Similar program should be conducted more and deeper, because it is give benefits to students as well as their teachers.

Abstract

The International Community Service Program themed “Integration of Social Media Algorithms in Optimizing the Use of Digital Marketing for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) in Indonesia and Malaysia” is a collaborative initiative between Universitas Jambi (UNJA) and Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM). This program aims to enhance the digital literacy capacity of micro-entrepreneurs through a comprehensive understanding of social media algorithms and the application of creative content strategies rooted in local wisdom and culture. The implementation methods include interactive training sessions, thematic workshops, intensive mentoring, and cross-country benchmarking to strengthen knowledge transfer and the adoption of best practices. The results demonstrate a significant improvement in participants’ digital competencies, reflected in their enhanced ability to optimize social media algorithms for product marketing, the establishment of a cross-border digitalpreneur community between Indonesia and Malaysia, and the development of adaptive digital marketing training modules and standard operating procedures (SOPs). The sustainability impact of this program not only increases the competitiveness and resilience of MSEs but also strengthens international academic collaboration between the two universities. Furthermore, this initiative contributes to achieving the universities’ Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and supports the development of an inclusive and sustainable digital economic ecosystem within the ASEAN region.

Abstract

Batik Nimas Sekarsari, a small business located in Gandusari, Blitar Regency, faces several challenges regarding financial accounting, Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) determination, profit calculation, and financial management. Additionally, the business encounters marketing limitations, with its reach currently restricted to the Blitar Regency area. To address these issues, comprehensive assistance and mentoring were required. The methods employed included training sessions on financial accounting, COGS determination, profit calculation, investment strategies, and financial management. Furthermore, Human Resource (HR) development was enhanced by training the partners in digital catalog creation and Instagram marketing. The results indicate that the utilization of Instagram marketing significantly expanded the business's market reach. Monitoring and evaluation demonstrated that following the training and mentoring sessions, the partner experienced a profit increase of approximately 20%. This Doctoral Service Program (Doktor Mengabdi) contributes to several key areas: 1) Supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically "No Poverty," by fostering rural economic independence through batik entrepreneurship; 2) Implementing the Universitas Brawijaya Community Service Strategic Plan (RENSTRA) 2021–2025 concerning Community Empowerment; 3) Strengthening Social and Economic Resilience through MSME development, local economic capacity building, and cultural preservation; 4) Achieving Key Performance Indicator (IKU) 2 by providing students with off-campus experience (recognized as a 4-credit PKM); 5) Fulfilling IKU 3 through lecturers' off-campus activities; and 6) Establishing business management certainty, strengthening product branding, and expanding the reach of eco-friendly green marketing.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan menyelesaikan permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh mitra, yaitu TK Al Ikhlas di Desa Sungai Abang terkait dengan implementasi pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Hasil analisis permasalahan menunjukkan bahwa mitra mengalami kesulitan dalam meningkatkan kompetensi guru, mengembangkan kurikulum, dan menyiapkan tata kelola pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang berkelanjutan. Kondisi ini menyebabkan kegiatan pembelajaran berjalan monoton atau terkesan kaku dan dipaksakan sehingga hasilnya tidak sesuai dengan apa yang diharapkan. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR), kegiatan PkM ini disusun mulai dari perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Dari hasil observasi, Focus Group discussion, Praktik Microteaching, pendampingan di kelas, dan diakhiri dengan evaluasi terlihat perubahan signifikan pada mitra. Hasil pelaksanaan PkM menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kompetensi guru yang diukur dari hasil pretest (66,5) meningkat sebagaimana hasil postest (88,3). Hasil lainnya yang terlihat yakni tersusunnya naskah awal Kurikulum Bahasa Inggris di PAUD dan termasuk juga pengembangan media pembelajaran berbasis Total Physical Response (TPR). Dapat disimpulkan, program ini berdampak signifikan baik pada praktik pembelajaran maupun tata kelola kelembagaan, dan memiliki potensi untuk diadaptasi oleh lembaga PAUD lainnya.

Abstract

This community service program aims to increase digital literacy and legal understanding of the Jujun Village community to prevent the misuse of online games into online gambling through socialization, educational lectures, and legal training. The problem of online gambling in Indonesia has increased drastically with transactions reaching IDR 327 trillion in 2023, an increase of 213% from the previous year. Jambi Province ranks highest in online gambling users nationally. The low level of digital literacy in Indonesian society, which has only reached 41.48%, is an important factor in vulnerability to online game misuse. The activity methods include interactive legal lectures, socialization on identifying online games with gambling potential, and education on legal consequences based on the ITE Law, Criminal Code, and related regulations. The program involved 50 participants (junior/senior high school students, parents, and village government) with a target of 85% increase in legal understanding. The results showed an increase in legal awareness, understanding of criminal sanctions for online gambling, and commitment to recommend the formation of anti-online gambling village policies. Program outputs include publication of accredited national journal articles, video documentation, and Intellectual Property Rights.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (KKN) focused on mixed ensemble training designed to enhance the musical skills of students at SMA Negeri 3 Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara Province. Prior to this program, musical activities at the school had not been well structured due to the absence of a permanent music group that could serve as a platform for students to practice and perform. The main objective of this activity was to establish a school-based mixed ensemble whose members are able to perform music cohesively and harmoniously. The participants consisted of students from SMA Negeri 3 Kupang who demonstrated an interest in music. The training was carried out in three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The learning methods employed included demonstration and repetitive drills, enabling participants to learn through direct examples and continuous practice. The results of the program showed an improvement in students’ musical abilities, as indicated by the increase in the average score from 2.62 in the pre-test to 4.02 in the post-test. Musical aspects such as notation reading, playing technique, dynamics, tempo, and ensemble cohesion demonstrated substantial improvement. Furthermore, the newly formed ensemble has performed at school events and arts activities in Kupang City. Thus, the KKN program can be considered successful in improving students’ musical skills through mixed ensemble instruction. It is expected that the school will establish the mixed ensemble as a regular extracurricular activity so that students can continue to develop their musical talents and skills.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to foster students’ entrepreneurial spirit through digital marketing training based on the Shopee platform in Jambi Province. The underlying problem of this activity was the tendency of students to use digital platforms primarily for consumptive purposes, particularly online shopping, rather than as a medium for entrepreneurship. The method employed in this program was an applicative training approach, which included an introduction to Shopee as an online marketing platform as well as hands-on practice in opening an online store, adding products, and promoting products. The evaluation of the program was conducted using a participant satisfaction questionnaire. The results showed that students provided positive responses to the training activities. Participants perceived the training as relevant to their needs, easy to understand, and beneficial in enhancing their understanding and interest in entrepreneurship. Therefore, Shopee-based digital marketing training was considered effective in fostering students’ entrepreneurial spirit and encouraging the productive use of digital platforms.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital transformation brings great opportunities as well as serious challenges, especially related to the low level of ethical, inclusive, and sustainable digital literacy. Inequality of access, misuse of technology, and lack of critical public understanding of the digital space are the main problems that need to be overcome through a participatory educational approach. This community service activity aims to improve ethical and sustainable digital literacy. This community service activity is carried out through a cross-campus webinar series program designed to improve the digital literacy of students, young lecturers, and the general public. The method used is an educational-reflective approach that emphasizes active participation, critical dialogue, and the preparation of concrete action plans using the Digital Action Plan Canvas. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in knowledge, critical awareness, and participants' ability to formulate contextual and applicable digital strategies. Pre-test and post-test evaluations showed an increase in the average digital literacy comprehension score, while reflection through action plans strengthened participants' commitment to apply learning into real practice. In addition, this activity succeeded in expanding academic networks across institutions and building strategic collaborations that are oriented towards sustainability. The discussion shows that the educational-reflective webinar model is effective in addressing the digital literacy gap, supports the SDG 4 (quality education) and SDG 17 (global partnership) agendas, and can be replicated in various community contexts. With an adaptive, participatory, and collaborative approach, this activity makes a real contribution to improving ethical and inclusive digital literacy in supporting sustainable development.

Abstract

This community service program was conducted to improve children's literacy skills in Tajinan Village, Malang Regency through various engaging educational activities. The main problems identified were low reading interest among children and lack of parental understanding about the importance of literacy for their children's future. The method used was a participatory approach where students collaborated with the community, youth organizations, and teachers during the period of July 9 to August 7, 2025. The main programs implemented included awareness of the prominent of literacy, a literacy competition entitled "Gema Literasi Anak (Literacy Awareness for Children)" comprising poems on local culture, education on the prevention of sexual violence and bullying, basic English courses, educational film screenings, social media content training for youth organizations, and waste management workshops. Program results showed high enthusiasm from children with active participation in every activity, increased reading interest, and development of their creativity in writing poetry about local folklore. The program also successfully raised high school students' awareness about the importance of continuing higher education and developed digital literacy skills among young villagers. Positive impacts were impacted not only by children but also by parents who began supporting literacy activities at home. In conclusion, university students proved to be effective bridges between the academic world and rural communities in building sustainable literacy culture.
