Abstract

Environmental problems continue to grow and become more complex over time. One of the problems that occurs is the number of puddles on village roads due to increasingly low water absorption space. In this case, based on a survey in Wonotirto Village, another problem arises, namely that waste processing, especially organic waste, is still not maximally utilized. In general, people in Wonotirto Village dispose of organic waste in their yards and burn it. The approach method used to find out the problems in this service activity includes interviews and observations in the field. The training on making biopore infiltration holes (BIH) can be used as a medium for making organic fertilizer. That way this program aims to educate and increase public understanding of groundwater infiltration holes and the use of organic waste for the environment. Community service activities in the form of socialization and training in making Biopore Infiltration Holes (BIH) and utilizing organic waste as fertilizer. The results of the activity were the installation of two biopore infiltration holes at Wonotirto Village Hall and training in making liquid fertilizer from leftover rice washing water. Making Biopore Infiltration Holes (LRB) can increase the amount of water infiltration and get the benefits of organic waste to fertilize the soil. During the rainy season, Biopore Infiltration Holes (BIH) can prevent flooding and can accommodate water sources. Making liquid fertilizer from leftover rice washing water can utilize household liquid waste and save money on fertilizer purchases.

Abstract

In the 90s, traditional games such as gobak gobrak sodor, engklek, jump rope, panggal (spinning wheel), egrang and patok lele turned into the main games played by children after school or during school holidays. However, due to the development of the times, the influence of the development of technology and social media has changed the games of today's children from group and active to individual and passive. Traditional games that are full of culture, national values, and even elements that are useful for child development are being neglected. The high level of children's addiction to gadgets affects habits and behavior. This dedication raises the importance of preserving traditional games in the modern era as it is today. Traditional games have many benefits, apart from being the nation's cultural heritage, traditional games can also act as a tool to train children's motor development, children's social interaction skills, and also character building in children. Preserving national culture in the form of traditional games to shift children's dependence on gadgets through physical education. Restoring traditional games to be one of the main games played by children to create a cultured generation and superior character. The implementation method used is socialization and direct practice in the field. Traditional games have several elements of strength, endurance, flexibility, agility, coordination, balance, and reaction speed. Application to students can increase the degree of physical fitness in students and provide a role for the preservation of traditional games for students.

Abstract

The majority of farmers in Depokrejo Village, Kebumen District, Kebumen Regency, Central Java Province still rely on inorganic chemical fertilizers. While these fertilizers quickly provide the necessary nutrients for plants, their continuous use poses a threat to soil and the environment. A more sustainable and cost-effective alternative is biological fertilizer, which contains microbial inoculants to support plant growth. One such option that is relatively unknown to farmers is using bamboo roots as biological fertilizers to replace inorganic chemical fertilizers. We conducted a community service activity to educate and equip farmers in Depokrejo Village with the knowledge and skills to produce Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) biological fertilizers using bamboo roots. The methods employed in this activity included field surveys, discussions, socialization, and training on PGPR production. Community service activities commenced with field surveys and discussions involving village officials, RT/RW officials, and the community. The initiative continued with the compilation of a work program and the determination of the time and location for the activities. Socialization and training were conducted on the same day. The materials used to create PGPR include bamboo roots, shrimp paste, granulated sugar, bran, and water. The farmers' increased enthusiasm and active participation in meetings, Q&A sessions, and PGPR production demonstrate their improved understanding and skills in using PGPR biofertilizer. By encouraging farmers to produce and use PGPR on agricultural land independently, we aim to reduce their reliance on inorganic chemical fertilizers and promote environmental sustainability

Abstract

The advancement of Islamic religious education in Megulung Kidul Village represents a key strategy to enhance both the understanding and application of Islamic principles within the local community. This research seeks to examine the process, challenges, and outcomes associated with the development of Islamic education in this area. Various initiatives are integral to this development, such as reinforcing the mosque's role as a hub for learning, elevating the quality of madrasah teachers, and holding regular religious events. The challenges encountered include limited resources, insufficient support from external entities, and a lack of engagement from the youth. Despite these obstacles, the initiative has positively influenced the community, as evidenced by increased religious comprehension, improved moral standards, and stronger social cohesion within the village. The research suggests that enhanced backing from governmental bodies and religious organizations is essential for bolstering Islamic education programs in rural settings.

Abstract

The community service program contained in this paper aims to educate the community about the importance of medicinal plants, their development, prospects and how to cultivate them on land owned by the community. This community service program was carried out from 31 July to 14 August 2023. This program involved 30 members of the Sumber Rejeki Farmer Group in Peniron Village, Pejagoan District, Kebumen Regency. This community service activity was assisted by the UMNU Kebumen Agrotechnology Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa) team. Education is carried out by conducting socialization and training on medicinal plant cultivation in farmer groups. This training activity presented information on 1) the development of medicinal plants in Indonesia, 2) prospects for medicinal plants, 3) cultivation of medicinal plants, and 4) introduction of superior varieties of medicinal plants. After the socialization session, discussions and questions and answers were held on the material presented, followed by the practice of cultivating medicinal plants. The enthusiasm of farmer group members can be seen from the many questions in the discussion session and the participation of participants in conducting training on medicinal plant cultivation. The results of the training felt by the community are 1) the land owned by the head of the farmer group has been planted with medicinal plants optimally to improve the economy of the farmer group, 2) the farmer group has new knowledge related to tillage and medicinal plant varieties, and 3) increased awareness of the village government and farmer groups of environmental sustainability by cultivating medicinal plants.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the English Camp method in improving the English language skills of elementary school students in Mblengorkulon Village. The training was carried out by involving students from various grade levels. This training method involves a practical and interactive approach with a focus on vocabulary recognition, basic grammar and English speaking skills. The English Camp is held for 1 week in a row, with various activities such as games, speaking practice, and simulations of communication situations in English. The results of this study indicate a significant increase in the English literacy of elementary school students after attending the English Camp. This improvement is reflected in an increase in vocabulary comprehension, speaking ability, and confidence in using English in real situations. In addition, participation in the English Camp also provides valuable experience in broadening students' cultural insights. Community involvement in the implementation of the English Camp also helps strengthen students' understanding of the importance and benefits of English literacy. Collaboration between schools, teachers and the community is the key to success in implementing this program. Based on these findings, it is suggested that English training through the English Camp method can be adopted as a strategy to increase English literacy in elementary schools. Furthermore, this program can be expanded to other villages by involving the local community and society in order to provide wider access for students to develop their English skills

Abstract

The problems faced by teachers at SMA Negeri 9 Purworejo are the lack of understanding of popular scientific article writing techniques and the lack of knowledge about obtaining ideas or concepts to be used as a thesis. The Community Service Activity of Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo in collaboration with SMA Negeri 9 Purworejo aims to facilitate teachers in understanding popular scientific article writing techniques and knowledge about obtaining ideas or concepts to be used as a thesis. The method used is a lecture followed by questions and answers and writing practice. The lecture material is mainly in the form of popular scientific article writing techniques. The competence to write popular scientific articles is useful for teachers, especially to meet the requirements for promotion. In addition, teachers have the opportunity to share knowledge not only in class or at school but also with the wider community. This community service activity is a trigger for motivation for teachers to write down their ideas or concepts before being refined into popular scientific articles. The writings of the teachers in the form of theses which are the most important part of popular scientific articles are appreciated by the resource persons by discussing their advantages and how to improve their shortcomings. By discussing the thesis in the form of sentences, writings and the enthusiasm of the teachers that appeared in the question and answer session, workshop activities containing material presentations by resource persons followed by questions and answers and the practice of writing popular scientific articles. By appreciating and discussing the theses written by these teachers, more or less, it has been able to overcome the problems faced by most teachers regarding the lack of understanding of the techniques for writing popular scientific articles and the lack of knowledge about obtaining ideas or concepts to be used as the thesis for writing

Abstract

Public Health Care in preventive and curative efforts in cases of musculoskeletal disorders that can cause a decline in a person's health and life productivity. knowledge and awareness in caring for health in oneself is an important aspect in the resilience of health degrees. Sports massage skills training is an effort to equip sports education students for affordable health care alternatives. This training went well and smoothly, providing provisions to students of sports education in human anatomy and physiology, as well as how to properly massage with the right method in accordance with the guidelines for the sequence of manipulation and movement of sports massage. Training participants are expected to know what are the indications and counter-indications when to give massage and the effects obtained from the application of massage to sportsmen and the general public, and can open up new job opportunities for sports education students in the community. It is hoped that the manipulation of sports massage can be practiced and continue to be trained so that it becomes a soft skill for students that is beneficial to the community

Abstract

This community service activity aims to implement one of the Tridharma of Higher Education, and assist the community in developing and empowering the potential of village youth in volleyball sports activities in Karanggayam Village, Karanggayam District, Kebumen. The main problem faced by coaches is that in carrying out volleyball activities they do not yet have the competence in accordance with the science of volleyball coaching. do not yet have the ability to develop a good volleyball training program. Knowledge of the rules of volleyball is still not good. As well as the lack of existing training facilities to support a good training process, and supporting facilities. The outcome of this activity is that the trainer has been able to create a good and correct training program in accordance with the principles of coaching science. Availability of standard volleyball training facilities in accordance with regulations. More and more teenagers are involved in sports activities. The method used to achieve the objectives of this activity is 1). Focus Group discussion, 2). Coaching clinic preparing training and refereeing programs for volleyball coaches, 3) Training and volleyball assistance.
