Abstract

The lack of understanding and interest of students in learning Social Studies (IPS) at the elementary school level is often caused by a monotonous and less varied teaching approach. This situation makes students feel bored, have difficulty in understanding the material, and are less actively involved in the learning process. To overcome this, audio-visual media emerges as an interesting alternative in creating a more interactive learning experience. This research aims to examine the role of audio-visual media in social studies learning in elementary schools. It discusses the benefits of audio-visual media in improving learners' understanding, the challenges that may be faced when using this media, and the strategies that can be applied to make its utilization more effective. This type of research uses a literature study approach to explore the contribution of audio-visual media in social studies subjects. The results indicate that the use of audio-visual media, such as learning videos, animations and interactive presentations, has a positive influence on students' learning outcomes. This media is able to convey information in a clear, interesting and easy-to-understand manner, thus significantly increasing learners' interest and understanding.

Abstract

This study explores the optimism of Chemistry students at Medan State University towards the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in writing academic texts. PKSM 23B students were interviewed using a qualitative approach to conduct this study. The results showed that most students saw AI as a great tool to trouble academic texts, as well as the challenges and opportunities of using AI. However, there were concerns about the possibility of engaging in plagiarism and reducing critical thinking skills. The limitations of AI infrastructure and information quality are additional problems. This study emphasizes the importance of academic ethics training, better digital literacy, and equal access to technology. This study suggests that a balanced strategy must be used to utilize technology and build students' intellectual abilities independently so that AI can be used effectively in the academic world.

Abstract

The mini research assignment of group 3 of the PPKn Reguler B 2023 class is entitled “The competence of teacher professionalism on student learning outcomes in critical thinking at SMP NGERI 35 Medan”. This study aims to examine the level of teacher professionalism, students' critical thinking skills, and the effect of teacher professionalism on students' critical thinking skills at SMP Negeri 35 Medan. The background of this study is based on the dominance of conventional learning methods used by teachers, where the learning process is more teacher-centered and does not encourage students to think critically. In addition, the limited use of interesting learning media and the lack of innovation in teaching approaches are also factors that influence students' low critical thinking skills. Through a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach, data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The results showed that teacher professionalism plays an important role in creating a learning environment that supports the development of students' critical thinking. Teachers who apply varied learning strategies, such as group discussions, simulations, and the use of interactive media, are able to increase students' involvement in learning and encourage them to be more active in analyzing and solving problems. This research provides insights for schools and educators in developing more innovative learning strategies to improve students' critical thinking.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality of seminar proposals submitted by Chemistry Department students in an effort to achieve a well-structured and high-quality program. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with data collection through document analysis. The research steps include (1) identifying the structure and organization of the proposals, (2) analyzing linguistic aspects such as spelling, diction, and sentence structure, (3) evaluating the clarity of objectives, methodology, and budget, and (4) categorizing errors and discussing recommendations for improvement. The results show that several proposals contain deficiencies, particularly in linguistic accuracy and systematic writing. Some proposals exhibit inconsistencies in structure, lack clarity in defining objectives and expected outcomes, and do not fully adhere to academic writing standards. Therefore, improvement strategies are necessary to enhance the quality of proposals, making them more systematic, clear, and effective. Strengthening proposal writing skills will increase the likelihood of approval and support the successful implementation of high-quality seminars.

Abstract

Emotional intelligence is an important aspect in students' personal and social development, as it affects their ability to understand and manage emotions, establish social relationships, and deal with academic pressures. One approach that can be used to develop students' emotional intelligence is to use group guidance services with the role playingmethod. This research uses the literature review method by collecting and analyzing various articles that discuss the application of the role playing method in group counseling services. This method allows students to play a role in a particular social situation so that they can practice expressing emotions, understanding other people's points of view, and developing interpersonal skills. The results show that role playing is effective in developing students' emotional awareness, empathy, and communication skills. Therefore, this method can be optimally applied by guidance and counseling teachers in supporting the development of students' emotional intelligence at school.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of the Game-Based Learning (GBL) method in enhancing students' learning interest in Social Studies at the elementary school level. The research employs the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by examining various relevant previous studies. The findings indicate that the implementation of GBL significantly increases student engagement, conceptual understanding, and learning motivation. Various game-based learning models, both those utilizing technology and interactive media, have been proven to create a more engaging and effective learning environment compared to conventional methods.

Abstract

Bullying is a serious problem in the educational environment that has a negative impact on the psychological, academic, and social aspects for victims. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of group counseling services using the Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) approach in reducing bullying behavior in schools. This research applied the literature study method by analyzing 21 relevant journals in the period 2020-2024. The research findings indicate that group counseling using REBT is effective in helping victims of abuse deal with irrational thought patterns, improve emotion regulation skills, and build self-confidence. Rational thinking methods, behavioral techniques, and role-playing in REBT proved effective in reducing bullying tendencies and improving students' psychological well-being. In addition, group dynamics in counseling provide social support that contributes to positive changes in student behavior. Therefore, the REBT approach in group counseling services is suggested as an effective strategy to address the effects of bullying and create a safer and more supportive school environment.

Abstract

This study aims to prove the effectiveness of group counseling services in increasing resilience in generation z. The method used was a literature study of 24 previous studies. The results showed that group counseling is effective in increasing resilience, especially in preparing and helping generation z face all kinds of challenges and competition in the era of the industrial revolution 5.0. The effectiveness of the service is influenced by group dynamics, the implementation of the counseling stages, and barriers such as shyness, anxiety, and time constraints. Various techniques have been used in group counseling, such as reality group counseling, assertive training, ego approach with self-management techniques, solution-focused brief counseling (SFBC), cognitive restructuring, and solution-focused brief therapy. It is concluded that group counseling services play a significant role in increasing generation z resilience if implemented with appropriate techniques and the right approach.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the extent to which role-playing methods can be optimally applied in group counseling sessions as an approach to develop students' social and emotional skills. The method used is a literature review of articles published between 2015 and 2025 that discuss the application of role-playing techniques in the context of guidance and counseling. The findings indicate that this technique is effective in enhancing interpersonal and intrapersonal communication, self-confidence, self-esteem, solidarity, assertive behavior, and self-efficacy. Additionally, role-playing can reduce negative behaviors such as bullying, verbal aggression, social anxiety, and gadget addiction. The simulation of real-life situations in this technique provides space for reflection and active learning for students. Therefore, role-playing is recommended as an interactive and applicable method that is relevant to group counseling services to support students' holistic development.

Abstract

Land legality issues remain a persistent agrarian challenge in Indonesia, primarily due to low public awareness and participation in land certification programs. The Complete Systematic Land Registration Program (PTSL) aims to accelerate comprehensive land asset legalization; however, its implementation in Jambi City faces technical, structural, and psychosocial obstacles. This study aims to assess public awareness and compliance regarding land rights, evaluate the effectiveness of participatory education in the PTSL implementation, and formulate a policy strategy aligned with local conditions. A qualitative approach was employed, involving in-depth interviews and field observations with residents, community leaders, and program implementers. The findings reveal that low levels of awareness and compliance stem from limited understanding of the certification benefits, procedural complexity, and distrust rooted in previous bureaucratic experiences. Participatory education plays a vital role in fostering critical awareness and enhancing community engagement. The proposed policy strategies include social mapping, integrated education throughout program stages, participatory incentives, cross-sector collaboration, and community-based monitoring. This study recommends a shift in the PTSL approach from a procedural focus to a community empowerment model to ensure more inclusive and sustainable implementation.
