Abstract

This research aims to examine the concept and implementation of Islamic ethics in personal and social life based on the latest scientific literature review. The method used is library research with a descriptive-analytical approach, through the analysis of primary sources in the form of the Qur'an and Hadith as well as secondary sources such as journals and academic books. The results of the study show that Islamic ethics is a theocentric and comprehensive value system, including human relations with God (ḥabl min Allāh) and human relations with others (ḥabl min al-nās). In personal life, Islamic ethics play a role in shaping individual character through the internalization of values such as honesty, trust, patience, and responsibility. Meanwhile, in social life, Islamic ethics function as a guideline in creating harmonious interactions through the principles of justice, tolerance, and help. This research also found that technological developments and globalization are challenges in the application of Islamic ethics, especially in the context of digital communication. Therefore, strengthening strategies through education, family roles, digital literacy, and contextual approaches are needed so that Islamic ethical values remain relevant and applicable in modern life.

Abstract

Art in Islamic civilization is often reduced to a dichotomy of haram and halal, whereas the classical Islamic intellectual tradition views beauty as a manifestation of monotheism that unites theological, aesthetic, and human dimensions. Academic studies that integrate Islamic calligraphy, music, and architecture within a single humanities framework are still very limited, so the understanding of Islamic art tends to be fragmented between branches. This research aims to analyze how the three branches of art, integratively, represent monotheism as a transcendental aesthetic principle that unites the spiritual, humanistic, and civilizational dimensions in Islamic art. The research uses the library research method with a philosophical-humanistic approach, through eight stages, namely problem identification, literature search, literature selection, data extraction, content analysis, philosophical interpretation, synthesis, and conclusion drawn, with the analytical framework of aesthetic theory of Seyyed Hossein Nasr, Ismail Raji al-Faruqi, and Titus Burckhardt. The results of the study show that calligraphy represents monotheism textually-visually, music represents it auditorially-spiritually through the sama' and qasidah traditions, and architecture represents it spatially through the geometry and light of the mosque, so that the three meet at the same generative point, namely monotheism. This study concludes that the integrative humanities approach makes a new theoretical contribution to understanding Islamic art as a coherent monotheistic aesthetic system, as well as relevant for strengthening the identity of contemporary Islamic civilization.

Abstract

Liberating Educationas a concept in Paulo Freire's Philosophy of Education emphasizes the process of conscientization, which refers to the process of humanizing human beings. Education must involve critical awareness as an implication of the dialogical process that serves as its spirit. Thus, dialogue becomes a tool for liberation and positions human beings equally as subjects of change. This paper examines how this concept, which originates from Western epistemology, is viewed from the perspective of Islamic educational studies, so that Paulo Freire's concept does not lose its spiritual meaning. In Islam, education has three dimensions: first, the divine dimension (ilahiyah), which explains the relationship between individuals and their God; second, the human dimension (insaniyah), which explains the relationship between individuals and other human beings; and third, the natural dimension ('alamiyah), which explains the relationship between individuals and the universe.

Abstract

In pragmatic studies, speech is one of the studies that discusses the use of speech in a conversation. The purpose of this study is to analyze the meaning of directive speech acts, the forms of directive speech acts used, and social contextual factors that influence the selection of directive speech act forms used in the anime Skip and Loafer. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The data collection method used is the observation method followed by note-taking. In analyzing the data, the study employs Namatame`s (1996) theory of the meaning of directive speech acts, Yule`s (1996) theory of speech act expressions, and Hymes`(1974) theory of speech acts. The results of the study indicate that 44 instances of directive speech acts were identified in the anime Skip and Loafer. From this data, six meaning of directive speech acts were identified: command, request, prohibition, permission, suggestion, and invitation. Based on the form of speech act expressions used, 37 instances of direct speech acts and 7 instances of indirect speech acts were found. Meanwhile, the social contextual factors that influence the selection of directive speech act expressions used in the anime Skip and Loafer include setting and scene, which indicate the formal nature of the situation and the location of the conversation; participants, which indicate the speaker`s role, differences in status, and relationship between the speaker and the addressee; and ends, which indicate the speaker`s intention or purpose in uttering the speech act.

Abstract

Qur'anic Education Centers (Taman Pendidikan Al-Qur'an or TPQ) play a strategic role as non-formal Islamic educational institutions in developing students' competence in reading the Qur'an. This study aims to analyze the management strategies employed by TPQ Nursalam Surakarta to improve students' competence in reading the Qur'an and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting its management. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation using both primary and secondary data sources. The data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the management strategy of TPQ Nursalam Surakarta is implemented through systematic learning planning, effective organization of teaching staff, the implementation of Qur'anic learning according to students' competency levels, and periodic evaluation of learning outcomes. These strategies contribute to improving students' competence in terms of reading fluency, accurate pronunciation (makhraj), and the application of tajwid rules. The successful implementation of the management strategy is supported by active participation from the local community, parents, religious leaders, mosque administrators, and local government through both moral and material support. The main challenges include the limited number and competence of teaching staff, inadequate teacher welfare, and insufficient learning facilities and infrastructure. The study concludes that well-planned, participatory, and adaptive management strategies are essential for improving students' competence in reading the Qur'an at TPQ.

Abstract

Language is a communication tool that has an important role in human life as a social entity, especially in interacting and communicating. This study aims to describe the forms of code mixing and the factors that cause code mixing in the content  of the YouTube channel tuah kreasi. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research data is in the form of speech that contains mixed codes obtained from several videos on  the YouTube channel Tuah Kreasi. The data collection technique is carried out through the observation and record method, while the data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman model which includes data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study showed that twenty-eight code mixing data were found consisting of code mixes in the form of words, phrases, and clauses. The most dominant form of code mixing is mixing code at the word level as many as fourteen data, followed by mixing code at the phrase level as many as eleven data, and mixing code at the clause level as many as three data. The code mix found consists of mixing code in that involves regional languages and mixing code outside that involves foreign languages, namely English, Arabic, Javanese, and Korean. English is the most dominant language used with a total of twenty data, then Arabic five data, Javanese two data, and finally Korean one data. The factors that cause code mixing include speaker factors and linguistic factors. The most dominant factor is the linguistic factor with a total of eighteen data, because it relates to the need for speakers to convey meaning precisely, specifically, and efficiently, especially in the use of scientific, technical, and popular terms. Meanwhile, the speaker factor only amounted to ten data, because it was related to cultural background, language habits, social identity, and communication style of the speaker. Thus, the phenomenon of code mixing on  the tuah kreasi youtube channel reflects the dynamics of language use in a bilingual society which is influenced by the development of social media and globalization.

Abstract

Code-mixing is a common linguistic phenomenon in popular music, particularly in Japanese-language songs performed by Korean pop (K-Pop) artists, whose blending of Japanese and English lyrics reflects globalized and multicultural communication strategies. This study aims to identify and describe the types and functions of code-mixing found in the lyrics of TWICE's Japanese song Fanfare, focusing on the linguistic form as well as the pragmatic function of the code-mixed elements within the lyrics. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using Muysken's (2000) theory of code-mixing types and Appel & Muysken's (2005) theory of code-mixing functions; the data, obtained from the song's official lyrics published on Spotify and Genius, were collected through a note-taking observation method and analyzed through identification, classification, and functional analysis, with Japanese established as the matrix language. The findings revealed 17 instances of code-mixing, consisting of seven insertion-type and ten alternation-type occurrences, while no instances of congruent lexicalization were identified due to the structural differences between Japanese and English. Furthermore, 27 occurrences of code-mixing functions were found, comprising expressive (11), directive (7), phatic (4), poetic (4), and referential (1) functions. The expressive function was the most dominant, indicating that code-mixing in Fanfare primarily serves to express feelings and emotions in conveying the song's motivational message. These findings confirm that code-mixing in song lyrics is not a coincidental form of language variation but a deliberate, functional linguistic strategy that strengthens meaning and communicative appeal.

Abstract

Science learning in elementary schools requires innovative and engaging instructional approaches. Integrating local cultural media into learning can enhance students' understanding and learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the effect of the Mind Mapping learning model assisted by the Limas Traditional House media on the science learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 81 Palembang. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of Class IV B as the experimental group and Class IV D as the control group. Data were collected through pretests and posttests and analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, Levene’s homogeneity test, and the Independent Sample t-test. The findings revealed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups. Students taught using the Mind Mapping model assisted by the Limas Traditional House media achieved higher learning outcomes than those who received conventional instruction. In conclusion, integrating the Mind Mapping learning model with local culture-based media creates more active, contextual, and meaningful learning experiences, thereby improving students' understanding of science concepts and enhancing their learning outcomes in elementary schools.
