Abstract

This study aims to analyze the internalization of character education values through the biography of KH Ahmad Dahlan in learning processes at the Elementary School/Islamic Elementary School. This research employs a qualitative approach using a library research method, focusing on the analysis of the figure’s biography and its relevance to strengthening character education within the context of contemporary Islamic education. The findings indicate that KH Ahmad Dahlan’s biography embodies several key character values, including religiosity, social awareness, a spirit of reform (tajdid), and rational thinking. These values demonstrate strong relevance for internalization in Islamic elementary school learning processes through various strategies, such as storytelling methods, integration into the Islamic Religious Education curriculum, and habituation in daily school activities. Therefore, the biography of Islamic figures serves not only as a source of historical knowledge but also as an effective medium for shaping students’ character from an early age. This study contributes to the development of a contextual and applicable history-based character education model in Islamic primary education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine in-depth the implementation of a love-based curriculum in Islamic Religious Education (IS) and analyze its implications for the development of humanistic character in students at Al Azhar Model Elementary School, Medan. This study uses a qualitative approach with field research. Data collection was conducted through participant observation, in-depth interviews with two Islamic Education teachers, and documentation studies. Data analysis was conducted interactively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results show that the implementation of a love-based curriculum is reflected in learning practices that place the value of compassion as the primary foundation of educational interactions, manifested through teacher role models, empathetic communication, and respect for the diversity of student characters. Teachers serve not only as learning facilitators but also as mentors who guide students' ongoing emotional and spiritual development. Therefore, these findings indicate that this approach contributes to creating a more inclusive and conducive learning atmosphere, increasing students' active participation, and fostering attitudes of empathy, tolerance, and social responsibility.

Abstract

This study discusses the concept of human beings in the perspective of the Qur’an and its relevance to character education development in basic education. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method using a library research approach. The findings reveal that humans are monodualistic beings possessing intellect, nafs, qalb, ruh, and fitrah which must be developed in balance through Islamic education. Qur’an-based character education plays an important role in shaping students who are moral, responsible, and spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, and socially balanced. Character development is carried out through teaching, role modeling, habituation, and collaboration between teachers and parents in addressing the challenges of the digital era.

Abstract

Abstract

Civic Education learning strategies at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah/Elementary School level play a crucial role in shaping the character, moral values, and civic awareness of students from an early age. The reality in the field shows that civic education is still often delivered in a conventional, teacher-centered manner, which is less able to foster active engagement and value internalization among students. This paper aims to examine in depth various PKn learning strategies that are appropriate for MI/SD, including inquiry-based, cooperative, problem-based learning, character habituation, and technology-based strategies. The method used is library research with a descriptive qualitative approach. The results of the study show that the application of varied, contextual, and student-centered learning strategies has proven effective in improving students' understanding, attitudes, and civic skills. Supporting factors for the success of these strategies include teachers' pedagogical competence, school infrastructure readiness, as well as family and social environment involvement. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include the limited digital competency of teachers, a lack of innovative teaching material references, and low active student participation due to monotonous teaching methods. The implications of this paper emphasize the importance of continuous professional development for PKn teachers at MI/SD so that they can apply innovative, adaptive, and relevant learning strategies in line with current developments.
