Abstract

Central Sulawesi is one of the main producers of Quarry C, which is processed into crushed stone in crushed stone factories (stone crushers). The number of crushed stone factories operating in the area between Palu-Donggala City is around forty units. The production of crushed stone factories apart from 1-2" and 2-3" crushed stone also contains smaller sized stone ash. This rock ash has a much smaller economic value so it is often not utilized and becomes waste at factory sites. Stone ash with the characteristics of a small specific gravity, even lighter than natural sand, has considerable potential to be used as a building material. It just needs research and testing before being used. Because it has a fine gradation and a small specific gravity, its potential can be used to make lightweight bricks, wall rosters and paving blocks. Apart from that, it is still possible to use it as a filler in asphalt concrete mixtures and aggregates for lightweight concrete. The initial tests required in the laboratory are: sieve analysis and compressive strength tests of bricks, paving blocks and rosters. The test results showed that there was an increase in compressive strength values for both bricks, paving blocks and roofs. The compressive strength value of brick with the addition of stone ash complies with SNI requirements and is included in category A, Paving Block is included in category A for road use, as well as roster there is a significant increase in the compressive strength value.

Abstract

One of the well-known Catholic devotions is praying the Rosary. Catholics are used to praying the rosary but do not understand the idea of praying the rosary as contemplation. Pope Paul VI really hopes that the Rosary will be lived as a prayer of contemplation because it is related to reflection on the mystery of the life of Jesus Christ as written in the Holy Scriptures. Ideally, praying a good rosary is at the same time contemplating the mystery of Christ. This aspect is unknown to most Catholics, even though they are used to praying. One group of Catholics who are not aware of this idea is the ISMAIK group which manages a home for the sick in Liquica, Timor Leste. Activities to socialize the understanding of the rosary as contemplation are carried out in order to help people understand this idea and live it in praying the rosary. The results of the socialization show that these service partners now understand the rosary as a prayer of contemplation. This understanding helps people to appreciate the prayer of the Rosary by contemplating the mystery of Jesus when praying the Rosary together.

Abstract

Unmitigated cow dung waste possesses the capacity to induce pollution and environmental degradation, hence potentially compromising air quality and the well-being of the neighboring population. The objective of this Community Service initiative is to enhance community understanding and promote the adoption of biogas technology as a sustainable energy alternative within livestock communities in the Sukabumi district of Lampung Province. The approach of socialization and direct instruction employed in this study involves educating farmers and local populations on the effective treatment of cow dung waste, thereby mitigating environmental degradation and harnessing waste as a valuable energy resource. Pretest and posttest questionnaires were administered to assess participants' comprehension levels and evaluate the outcomes of the socialization process. According to the responses obtained from the questionnaires completed by the participants, a significant majority (90%) acknowledged the existence of environmental consequences associated with untreated cow dung. Furthermore, an overwhelming majority (99%) expressed agreement with the idea of converting cow dung into biogas. Additionally, a substantial proportion (90%) of the participants reported an enhanced comprehension of the process involved in converting cow dung into biogas. This phenomenon demonstrates that the community's view necessitates the integration of technology in order to address their issues. Hence, the utilization of suitable technology is imperative for the community, particularly cattle farmers, to effectively manage the disposal of cow dung waste, which significantly affects the environment. The utilization of biogas technology has the potential to mitigate this impact and offer alternative energy alternatives that are more ecologically sustainable for the local community.

Abstract

The use of cellular telephones or commonly abbreviated as cell phones is increasingly widespread in society, there are many positive impacts and benefits obtained in the fields of education, health, security and business. In the field of education, the use of mobile phones is really needed, especially during the Covid 19 era, namely as a medium for online learning and sharing information. Currently, cellphones have begun to change their function, not only as communication and information tools but also for playing games, listening to music, watching films and so on. Cell phones also have various price and feature options which are equipped with various increasingly sophisticated and intelligent technologies so that they are often called smartphones. Various information and applications can be accessed along with the increasing number of websites that can be accessed via smartphone which provide information in the form of news, job vacancies, and so on. Apart from having a positive impact, using a smartphone also has a negative impact if it is not used properly. For teenagers, it can cause them to lose concentration in studying because they only focus on various information and social media and games. Apart from that, it can damage the eyes, damage the spine due to lack of movement and sitting more, hearing problems due to using headsets, sleep disturbances due to staying up too late and decreased sense of family and social factors. Inseparable part of our daily lives, playing a central role in connecting us with the virtual world. However, with all the comfort and benefits offered, we often tend to forget the security aspects that are no less important. Seeing the importance of security factors, security awareness of smartphone use is something that cannot be ignored. Smartphone users personally suffer a lot from fraud through WhatsApp or SMS applications, game applications which without realizing it are a place for gambling and also illegal online loan offers which cause a lot of harm to the public. Smartphone users, especially children and teenagers, often don't realize things like this. Therefore, users must be responsible for their personal security in the digital world, such as installing antivirus, not sharing confidential personal data, choosing when to access information on the internet, and so on. Therefore, it is necessary to spread awareness about the safety of using smartphones, especially among teenagers.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology in this era has experienced a shift to digital transformation which is changing the industrial landscape. Previously, in the Industry 4.0 era, technology was only positioned as an information search engine. Now in the Social Era 5.0, technology and its functions are emphasized as part of human life. In its growth, many social networks have been manipulated for certain purposes, such as spreading false information or what is commonly known as hoaxes. It is important to emphasize that the role of Millennials today is to be smart in disseminating relevant information. Because in reality they are the ones who dominate the majority of social networking users in Indonesia. One of the social networking users who are among the millennials themselves are students in Islamic boarding schools. Therefore, in this millennial era, students must always be observant, intelligent and wise in using social media, whether in disseminating information in the form of positive content. Apart from that, students must be able to become active participants and active outreach on social media both in spreading da'wah and not be easily provoked or taken advantage of.

Abstract

Business opportunities in the agricultural sector have great potential, especially in processing harvests into value-added products. The potential for developing processed harvest products in Balikpapan is substantial, given its role as a primary producer of secondary crops used as the main raw materials. Therefore, the Kalimantan Institute of Technology seeks to contribute to the development of community welfare, especially in Balikpapan. The method used is identifying problems and finding solutions.  The main problem faced by the Swa Tani Farmers group is the direct sale of their harvests to the collector or through safekeeping at nearby kiosks. The production of harvest-derived products is a part-time endeavor, with sales exclusively conducted through kiosks or WhatsApp (WA) groups. Community service activities have been implemented to foster an entrepreneurial spirit by encouraging creativity and innovation. The innovations carried out are in the form of developing processed harvest products and also management innovations in the marketing sector.  Marketing training contains material to provide an in-depth understanding of the importance of marketing strategies, as well as simple but effective marketing methods.  The practiced harvest product is in the form of sticks, with the primary raw materials for stick production being cassava, taro, and bananas.  Evaluation of the results of processed products shows that cassava sticks dominate in consumer choice, while taro sticks require further adjustments, and banana sticks need additional flavor aspects.
