Abstract

The increase in the elderly population in Meruya Selatan Subdistrict, Jakarta, demands efforts to increase their social awareness and welfare. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of outreach and counseling in improving the social care of the elderly in the area. The methods used include data collection on the elderly, conducting workshops, individual and group counseling sessions, as well as developing social and recreational activities.The results showed an increase in the social participation of elderly people, a decrease in loneliness levels, and an increase in psychological well-being. Seniors who take part in the program demonstrate active involvement in community activities and have a better understanding of the importance of physical and mental health. Challenges faced include limited resources and difficulty mobilizing participants. This program has succeeded in improving the quality of life of the elderly through a comprehensive and collaborative approach. Recommendations for further development include increasing the capacity of the extension team and counselors, utilizing digital technology, and developing infrastructure that is elderly friendly. This research underscores the importance of ongoing and collaborative social support for the well-being of older adults.

Abstract

Metabolic syndrome has become a global epidemic with a widespread increase in obesity cases. The prevalence of metabolic syndrome is quite high and varies between populations of different ethnicities. Hypertension is a major contributor to the prevalence of metabolic syndrome and abdominal fat is strongly associated with metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome increases the risk of various degenerative diseases, for example type 2 DM, cardiovascular disease, stroke, heart infarction and the risk of death from the above degenerative diseases. Lifestyle modification combined with diet and exercise remains the initial intervention to reduce the risk of metabolic syndrome.This Community Service Activity is aimed at providing additional knowledge about healthy lifestyle patterns that can prevent or control metabolic syndrome, so that it is hoped that people can apply it in their daily lives and ultimately reduce the rate of morbidity and mortality due to metabolic syndrome. The activity was carried out at the Trisakti Nagrak campus, Ciangsana village, Gunung Putri sub-district, Bogor, December 3 2023. Counseling is carried out using the lecture method and ends with questions and answers. Participants are given pre-test and post-test questions before and after the counseling session to assess how far the participants' related knowledge has increased.

Abstract

Sawapudo Village, known for its unique coastal features including beaches, karst cliffs, and mangrove vegetation, holds tourism potential. However, a lack of wise management has led to degradation, including mangrove loss and over-exploitation of rare species. Community involvement is crucial for sustainable management. Through Integrated Thematic Community Services in July-August 2019, efforts were made to address these issues. The activities aimed to educate the community on tourism village management, improve local skills in souvenir making, and enhance digital presence through website creation and social media management. Proposed solutions included institutional strengthening, greening tourism spots, promoting IT-based tourism, producing eco-friendly souvenirs, and establishing a village website. These initiatives aim to boost the local economy and position Sawapudo as a natural tourism destination.

Abstract

The Accounting Information System is a tool for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises that is very necessary for preparing various efficient and valid reports. Socialization and training on digital-based accounting information systems is carried out with the aim of making MSME actors understand the importance of accounting information systems, so that business actors are expected to be able to use accounting information systems, especially digital, in carrying out their business so that valid information is produced in the decision-making process. This outreach and training was carried out for MSME actors in Kerinci district and Sungaifull city, Jambi province. This service was carried out for MSME actors, namely at Luxio Studio and Queen Laundry. The methods used in this community service are socialization, training and assistance in the use of accounting information systems using digitalization with tutorials and discussions. This service activity can change the perception of MSME actors regarding the importance of accounting information systems, and also MSME actors have the ability to implement digital-based accounting information systems in conducting business.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has become one of the most significant events in history, impacting the global health system, as reported by the World Health Statistics by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2020. While its focus is on COVID-19, the pandemic has underscored the importance of respiratory health in everyday life. Throughout the pandemic, communities worldwide have learned more about the significance of maintaining a healthy respiratory system. However, with the end of the acute phase of the pandemic, attention to other acute respiratory infections (ARI) may have decreased. Diseases such as tuberculosis, influenza, pneumonia, bronchitis, and others remain serious threats to public health. Therefore, this Community Service (PKM) aims to provide comprehensive education to the public, reminding them of the importance of maintaining respiratory health, recognizing ARI symptoms, and implementing appropriate preventive measures. This community service activity is expected to provide a deeper understanding of ARI and explain how simple actions can help prevent ARI, enhancing knowledge and awareness of respiratory infections.

Abstract

Obstacles to the spiritual growth of congregations are often found in many churches. One alternative used to solve this problem is discipleship. Discipleship helps believers to become disciples who have mature faith through community. JKI Royal Family Church is a church that carries out discipleship in a small group called My Team based on the Great Commission written in Matthew 28:19-20. Through small groups, it is hoped that the congregation can grow together spiritually. This research aims to see the effectiveness of small groups as an effort to develop the spirituality of the congregation at the JKI Royal Family Church. The research method used is descriptive qualitative by collecting data through related books, interview scripts and observation results. The data obtained shows the existence of small groups which apparently contribute to the spiritual growth of the congregation. This growth can be seen from the development of the quality of loyalty in participating in worship, changes in character for the better, and more responsibility. Through the results of research conducted in My Team, it can be concluded that small groups can increase the spiritual effectiveness of the congregation.

Abstract

Education is crucial for nation-building and enhancing community welfare. Hence, every country strives to design strategic educational policies. This underscores the importance of collaboration to boost productivity and reduce unemployment among vocational school graduates. The outreach team conducted an initial survey at the Sunan Ampel Vocational Islamic High School Plus Skills (MAPK) in Kertosono and identified the need for entrepreneurship training programs for students. The aim is to assist them in acquiring the understanding, knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to become successful entrepreneurs. This program aims to encourage MAPK Sunan Ampel, Kertosono students to prepare themselves as successful entrepreneurs post-graduation, with hopes of benefiting themselves and the surrounding community. The training method to be used is integrated guidance through information dissemination, discussion, demonstration, and guided practice. Through this training, students will be guided to develop their business ideas into practical business plans using the Business Model Canvas (BMC). The results of this outreach indicate that participants expressed that this method provided a deeper understanding of business aspects and helped them plan their businesses more structuredly. The use of BMC assists them in designing businesses more structuredly and practically.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to socialize the importance of choosing a college major, as well as being able to make better use of technology in determining the ideal choice of major. This activity was carried out at SMK Negeri 2 Manokwari, which was attended by class XII students located in Manokwari Regency. This activity was carried out well followed by the students' responses so that discussion occurred. The results of the activity are students' knowledge about the importance of continuing their studies at university, it is important to choose a major that is in line with technological developments.

Abstract

Good and orderly management of student scores in each lesson is the hope of every teacher to make various decisions regarding their students easier. This goal may be realized if teachers have good computer literacy, especially in terms of using Microsoft Excel. However, many of them have still not maximized the use of this program. Based on estimation, it was concluded the teachers at SMA Putra Bangsa Depok had not maximized the use of Microsoft Excel for managing their students' scores. So, the community service team, through this community service, tried to provide education and disseminate knowledge regarding the optimal use of Microsoft Excel program that it could be used as a guide in maximizing of the objectives of implementing each activity which are expected to be achieved. The result provides an increase in teachers’ computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Excel.

Abstract

 In the current digital era, the use of computers as a medium for learning and working has become something that can no longer be avoided. The assignments given to students are also in digital form, whether the results are printed on a printer or in PDF format. So mastery of Microsoft Office has become a necessity. One of the school assignments that school children often receive today is to make written reports in various formats for class learning purposes. One of the difficulties faced by students is how to create a table of contents that can adapt to changing report pages. In this community service, the author conducted training in introducing Microsoft Word, especially the table of contents, to make the table of contents of reports and tasks easier.
