Abstract

. This study aims to examine the implementation of group guidance services using the reframing technique in addressing students' cultural discrimination behavior at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri Kota Tebing Tinggi, covering the planning process, the implementation of group activities, the dynamics of interaction among members, and the changes in students' attitudes and behavior after participating in the service. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design. The research subjects were determined through purposive sampling, namely the guidance counselor and eighth-grade (VIII-4) students who exhibited a moderate to high level of cultural discrimination behavior, with a total sample of 7 students. Data collection techniques consisted of non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using a case study approach through data reduction, narrative data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with data validity strengthened through source and technique triangulation as well as member checking. The results showed that, in the initial condition, all seven respondents were in the moderate category of cultural discrimination behavior, marked by the use of stereotypes, exclusive attitudes, and a tendency to mock friends' cultural differences. After receiving the group guidance service with the reframing technique, all respondents showed a significant decrease to the low category, reflected in reduced mocking behavior, increased mutual respect, and the emergence of positive changes in the cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects of the students. Thus, group guidance services using the reframing technique proved effective in reducing students' cultural discrimination behavior and can be adopted as an alternative strategy in guidance and counseling to create a more inclusive and harmonious school environment.

Abstract

Video has become a familiar learning medium because it combines sound, images, movement, and narrative in a form that is close to students’ everyday digital experiences. This study aims to synthesize the reported effects of video-based learning on learning motivation and learning outcomes in Indonesian educational contexts. A qualitative literature-study approach was used by reviewing publications indexed through Google Scholar for the 2020–2025 period. The source manuscript records an initial search of 1,870 items, a refined set of 56 publications, and 14 articles selected as the main body of analysis. The reviewed studies cover different educational levels and subjects, including Javanese language, Indonesian language, English, science, civics, phonology, and distance learning. Across the studies, video-based learning was generally associated with stronger attention, interest, active participation, and enthusiasm, while learning outcomes improved through higher average scores, increased mastery, and better performance compared with conventional instruction. Several studies also note limitations related to internet access, teacher preparation time, and uneven student participation. These findings suggest that video is most beneficial when used as a purposeful, accessible, and context-sensitive learning aid rather than as a substitute for meaningful teacher–student interaction.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the limited variety of Biology teaching materials in schools—which remain dominated by printed textbooks and student worksheets—resulting in low student learning motivation and difficulties in grasping concepts related to the human digestive system. The study aimed to: (1) assess the feasibility of a Construct 2-based educational game on the digestive system for Grade XI high school students, and (2) determine student responses to the use of this game-based learning medium. This study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), though it was limited to the Development stage due to time and budget constraints. Data were collected through interviews, a needs analysis questionnaire, expert validation sheets, and student response questionnaires. The data were Analyzed using both descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The results indicated that the Construct 2-based game achieved high validity ratings: 94% from subject matter experts, 90% from media experts, and 96% from instructional design experts, resulting in an overall average validity of 93.33% (categorized as highly valid/feasible). The overall student response test yielded an average score of 92% (categorized as "very good"), covering aspects such as product appearance (94%), readability (91%), language (94%), content (95%), and presentation/motivation (92%). Thus, the Construct 2-based interactive multimedia game on the digestive system is deemed highly valid and practical for use as a learning medium for Grade XI high school Biology.

Abstract

Descriptive statistics play an essential role in educational research because they are used to present, summarize, and describe data systematically, objectively, and comprehensibly, without generalizing to the population. This study aims to examine the concept, scope, and application of descriptive statistics as a foundation for data analysis in educational research. The study employs a descriptive quantitative approach through a library research design. Data were collected by reviewing various scientific sources, including statistics textbooks, journal articles, and supporting literature discussing measures of central tendency, measures of dispersion, skewness, and kurtosis. Data analysis was conducted by systematically reviewing, summarizing, and synthesizing experts' views to obtain a comprehensive and structured understanding. The results show that descriptive statistics enable educational researchers to fully understand data characteristics through tables and graphs, measures of central tendency (mean, median, and mode), analysis of data dispersion, and the determination of distribution shape through skewness and kurtosis. Thus, descriptive statistics serve as an important foundation for interpreting educational research data and as a starting point for the appropriate and methodological use of inferential statistical techniques.

Abstract

This study aims to construct a hypothetical design of a school-management-based character learning management model for elementary schools in Purworejo Regency. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach; however, this article is limited to the preliminary study, needs analysis, theoretical and philosophical review, and model-design construction. The study was conducted in three elementary schools in Purworejo Regency in April 2026 and involved 3 principals and 32 teachers. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis, and were analyzed qualitatively through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The preliminary findings indicate that character values had been incorporated into school visions and missions, school programs, habituation activities, and classroom learning. Nevertheless, their management remained general, was not yet systematically integrated, and was not supported by a management design connecting planning, role distribution, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up. Accordingly, the proposed design integrates school-based management principles with the management functions of planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling (POAC). These managerial processes are directed toward value internalization through ngerti (knowing), ngrasa (feeling), and nglakoni (doing). The design positions principals, teachers, education personnel, parents, and the community as collaborative actors and uses feedback to support continuous improvement. The result of this study is a hypothetical model design and not a final model.
