Abstract

One of the reasons why John G. Cawelti's formula appears is because many popular literary stories have the same formula. This study aims to describe and analyze the structure of Cawelti's adventure formula that builds the fairy tale of the Dream Tree story and classifies the character education values contained in the fairy tale of the Dream Tree by Watiek Ideo. The research analysis used descriptive qualitative, read carefully and recorded the reading data from the fairy tale The Dream Tree by Watiek Ideo as the object of research. The data that has been found is then analyzed and classified based on each group. The results of this study can be seen that the fairy tale The Dream Tree fulfills the three elements of Cawelti's adventure formula. It is known that the fairy tale formula is similar to The Lord Of The Rings. The adventure plot formula is: (1) The events behind the hero's journey; (2) the journey undertaken by the hero through the many obstacles faced in completing the mission; (3) the hero encounters a hero on the way; (4) hero successfully completes the journey, and faces the antagonist; (5) hero has a new problem; (6) the hero's victory for his efforts in completing the mission. Meanwhile, the values of character education contained in the fairy tales of the Dream Tree, include strong determination, loving and respecting parents, fighting fear, and cooperation.

Abstract

Cognitive Linguistics Critical Discourse Studies (CL-CDS) in Rachmat Hidayat Mustamin's poem Beware of Combustion is analyzed by interpreting conceptually cognitive psychological-oriented meanings. This study aims to analyze the text of poetry by describing the conceptual meaning of cognitive psychology. Furthermore, the structure of knowledge is described based on experience and environmental observations that are interpreted openly. In analyzing qualitative data, namely examining the text of poetry, conducting data reduction, compiling data coding, and concluding data. The results of the study show that in the text dimension the presentation of the poem Awas Mudah Terbakar discusses affirmations that give a warning of something that is quickly provoked. Satire conveyed as a form of social protest that questions a condition. Many people stay silent with everything that happens even though they are constrained by the interests of a particular group, making it difficult for them to develop further. The message of social cognition from the poem Awas Mudah Terbakar is conveyed using parables and motivating statements with implied word choices.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using a project-based learning model on learning to write student poetry in class V SD Inpres Taeng-Taeng, Gowa Regency. This type of research is a quasi-experiment. The sample in this study was 25 students. Data collection techniques were carried out using questionnaires, writing tests, and observation sheets. The results showed that the poetry writing skills of students before the implementation of the project-based learning model were generally in the poor category and the learning outcomes on the pretest with an average value of 49.20. While the learning outcomes of students' poetry writing skills after the implementation of the project-based learning model changed to a satisfactory category and the learning outcomes of students on the posttest with an average value of 90.00 the results of descriptive analysis testing with the help of SPSS 27.0 for windows. Normality testing of pretest and post-test data has been normally distributed with sig 0.17> α = 0.05 and the results of hypothesis testing using the One sample t-test and obtained a p-value (sig. (2-tailed)) is 0.000 <0.05, so H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that the Project Based Learning model is effectively used in the poetry writing skills of fifth-grade students of SD Inpres Taeng-Taeng Gowa Regency.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the use of blog media on learning interest in writing skills, and personal experiences of class V students at SDN 179 Tanah Beru, Bulukumba Regency, in terms of the use of student interest response questionnaires. The type of research used is pre-experimental research. The research design used is a one-shot case study, namely experimental research carried out by demonstrating the strength of measurement and scientific value of a research design. The experimental subjects in this research were 19 students as a trial class to apply the use of blog media. The data collection technique used is a questionnaire technique of student learning interests or student responses. The research results show that from the results of the data analysis of the student interest in learning questionnaire, the ideal score is 92.89%, which is in the very good category. So, it can be concluded that the influence of using blog media on interest in learning the personal experience writing skills of class V students at SDN 179 Tanah Beru, Bulukumba Regency is in the very good category.

Abstract

The children’s story The Secret Seven-Sapta Siaga 6th edition is a detective genre children’s story written by Enid Blyton. This research on children’s stories was conducted to reveal how the detective genre formula is found in the children’s book The Secret Seven-Sapta Siaga. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with a review of John G. Cawelti’s classic detective formula as a theory for finding formulas for children’s stories. The material object used is the children’s story The Secret Seven Sapta Siaga. The techniques in data collection are literature study, reading, observation, and taking notes. The results of the study reveal that the children’s storybook The Secret Seven-Sapta Siaga by Enid Blyton is written with classic detective typology which in the story presents a hero with a final goal to be achieved. This detective children’s story has six main phases in the formulaic structure of the story namely, (1) the introduction of the detective. (2) crimes and leads. (3) inquiry. (4) Announcement of solutions. (5) explanation of solutions. And, (6)The end of the story. The form of the invention contained in the story pattern is the development of the detective genre in the form of a crime for attempted theft of goods.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to explain the Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P3) used in learning procedural text analysis for class VII students at SMP Muhammadiyah 15 Wonoharjo. The research methodology integrates a qualitative approach with procedural elements. Two ways of collecting data other than tests are questionnaires and observation. The qualitative description method was used to test the data. The research conclusion shows that students appear to show a series of behaviors and characteristics that are in accordance with the P3 dimensions when they learn to interpret procedural texts. Learners demonstrate a series of behaviors and characters that are consistent with the P3 dimensions. Research findings show that students can effectively apply the P3 dimensions starting with the routine of worship and prayer, the ability to accept differences in perceptions and opinions, the ability to participate in small group discussions, the capacity for critical thinking and problem solving, and their ability to act independently and wisely as part of their responsibilities as students of Pancasila.

Abstract

This research examines the phenomenon of the decadence of language politeness by focusing on changes in politeness values ​​and the decline in communication ethics. This research is based on Brown and Levinson's theory of politeness which pays attention to the factors of social distance, social power, and threat ratings in communication, as well as anthroposociopragmatic theory to understand the influence of culture and social structure on language use. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection through direct observation and analysis of student digital communication documents, especially via WhatsApp. Data analysis shows that there is a decline in politeness in language which is characterized by the use of less polite speech, both in daily communication between students and with lecturers. The research results show that the decadence of language politeness among cross-cultural students at Universitas Tribhuwana Tunggadewi Malang is influenced by various factors, including environmental influences, social media, and a lack of understanding of language politeness norms in diverse socio-cultural contexts. This study emphasizes the importance of understanding intercultural communication, cultural identity, and social interaction in overcoming the decadence of language politeness, as well as the need to integrate material on language politeness in higher education to develop effective and polite student communicative competence.

Abstract

This article discusses the poetry writing abilities of grade 4 students at Kedaung Elementary School, Depok. 4th-grade elementary school students' understanding of poetry is still very limited, even when writing poetry individually. Therefore, teaching poetry material in elementary school requires learning media. Cartoon videos are used as learning media for elementary school students because they are very popular. This research was conducted with the aims of finding out the extent of the poetry writing skills of grade 4 elementary school students and analyzing the effectiveness of video media in improving the poetry writing skills of grade 4 elementary school students. Descriptive qualitative methods and open interviews were used in this research. Poetry by 4th grade students at SDN Kedaung, Depok, was used as a data source. Based on this research, it was found that there was an increase in the poetry writing skills of grade 4 elementary school students by using cartoon video media. Of the 30 students, it was found that 24 students experienced an increase in their grades from the first poem to the second poem they wrote. This is proven by the average score for poetry 1 is 65.5 and for writing poetry 2 is 73.2. Based on the results of open interviews, it was found that 21 students felt they had no more difficulty writing poetry after watching cartoon videos. So it is concluded that the use of video media in the form of cartoons is very effective in improving poetry writing skills in students at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze temporal deixis and spatial deixis in the novel Tokyo dan Perayaan Kesedihan by Ruth Priscilia Angelina and find out how the temporal and spatial deixis presented by the author in the novel Tokyo dan Perayaan Kesedihan can create indirect communication between the author and the reader. The research design applies descriptive qualitative data as sources of speech texts in the novels Tokyo dan Perayaan Kesedihan by Ruth Priscilia Angelina. Data collection utilizes documentation techniques and data analysis, classifying data according to the problem formulation and drawing conclusions after the analysis process using Yule's theory regarding temporal deixis and partial deixis. The results of the research are first: 8 temporal deixes, namely in words, and 8 spatial deixes, including the words now, tomorrow, a year, here, then, earlier, and spatial deixis, totaling 8 words, namely here, in the middle, this way, next to, around here, in the forest, and in the city. The two attempts to present temporal deixis and spatial deixis in the novels Tokyo and Celebration of Sadness by the author are given references according to the context of the speech between the characters so that the reader is able to understand the intent and meaning of the temporal deixis and spatial deixis in the speech events between the characters.

Abstract

This study aims to examine various forms of silence that occur in Bopak and Gabriella's conversation on the Tonight Show Net program. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research. The data source comes from the Tonight Show Net YouTube channel on the episode Bopak yang Demen, Tapi Malah Dicomblangin ke Desta! The subjects of this study were Bopak and Gabriella as guest stars on the show, and Desta, Hesti, and Dustin as presenters. The research data are utterances containing silence uttered by Bopak and Gabriella. The data collection techniques used were listening and note-taking. At the data analysis stage, the researcher used a descriptive analysis technique by identifying and describing the forms of silence produced by Bopak and Gabriella's utterances on the show, as well as explaining the causes of the silence. The study results showed that in Bopak and Gabriella's speech, silent silences, silences filled with sounds, and silences filled with words were found. The reason for this silence is that the speaker forgets the vocabulary that will be spoken, is not ready for the sentence that will be spoken and is nervous due to confusion about what will be said and also unstable emotions.
