Abstract

Learning the material of volcanic eruption process in high school is still dominated by conventional media so that the visualization of abstract geological phenomena cannot be understood optimally by students. This study aims to develop and test the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning media on the material of volcanic eruption process for grade X students at SMAN 5 Pariaman. The study used the Research and Development method with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Product validation was carried out by media experts and material experts, while the field test involved 32 grade X students. The effectiveness of the media was tested using a one-group pretest-posttest design through N-Gain score analysis. The results showed that the media obtained a validity score from media experts of 4.53 and material experts of 4.72 with a very valid category. The results of the practicality test obtained an average score of 4.62 which is included in the very practical category. Meanwhile, the results of the effectiveness test showed an N-Gain value of 0.87 (87%) with a high category, which indicates an increase in student understanding after using the media. Thus, Augmented Reality-based learning media is suitable for use as a Geography learning medium because it is valid, practical, effective, and able to improve the quality of learning on the material on volcanic eruption processes.

Abstract

The Child-Friendly School (CFS) Program is an effort to create a safe, comfortable, inclusive learning environment that protects children's rights. Although it has been implemented in various schools, its implementation still requires evaluation to ensure its compliance with the CFS indicators and to identify aspects that need improvement. This study aims to describe and evaluate the implementation of the Child-Friendly School Program at SDN Jetis 3 Lamongan based on the Context, Input, Process, and Product (CIPP) evaluation model. The study used a qualitative evaluative approach with the principal, teachers, students, and related parties as subjects. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model with source and technique triangulation to ensure data validity. The results show that the context aspect has been supported by school policies and the commitment of the school community; the input aspect has adequate resources and facilities, but program administration and documentation still need to be strengthened; the process aspect shows the implementation of participatory, inclusive, and discrimination-free learning; while the product aspect shows an increase in learning comfort, discipline, and student character. It was concluded that the implementation of the Child-Friendly School Program at SDN Jetis 3 Lamongan had gone well, but required strengthening of administration, documentation, and sustainable program development.

Abstract

Students' low ability to solve integer subtraction operations remains a common problem in mathematics learning because it impacts their mastery of subsequent materials. Therefore, this study is important to identify the forms and factors causing students' learning difficulties as a basis for designing more effective learning. This study aims to analyze the learning difficulties of seventh-grade students in integer subtraction operations at SMP Negeri 5 Loura. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with three seventh-grade students selected by purposive sampling based on the level of learning difficulties indicated in the initial test results. Data collection was carried out through tests, interviews, and observations, while data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that students experienced three types of difficulties: difficulty understanding concepts, difficulty applying principles, and difficulty performing calculations, with difficulty understanding concepts being the most dominant difficulty. These difficulties were influenced by low learning motivation, lack of mastery of prerequisite material, ineffective study habits, and learning methods that were still less concrete. This study concluded that strengthening conceptual understanding through the use of concrete learning media and continuous practice is needed to reduce students' difficulties in integer subtraction operations.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the listening skills of 5-6 year old children at Satu Atap 01 Kindergarten through the use of flannel board media. This study was motivated by the low listening skills of children shown through lack of concentration, difficulty understanding the content of the story, and low ability to answer questions and retell the information heard. The study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method which was carried out in two cycles, with the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 20 children of Group B. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively. The results showed that children's listening skills increased in each cycle. The percentage of developmental completeness increased from 15% in the pre-cycle to 60% in Cycle I and reached 90% in Cycle II. This improvement was seen in the children's ability to focus attention during storytelling activities, understand the content of the story, answer teacher questions correctly, follow verbal instructions, and retell the story coherently. These findings show that the use of flannel board media can improve the listening skills of children aged 5-6 years and can be used as an alternative, interesting learning media to support the development of language aspects in early childhood education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the errors made by Grade X (Phase E3) students at SMAK N St. Dominikus, Southwest Sumba, in solving trigonometry ratio problems, employing a descriptive qualitative method. The research subjects were Grade X (Phase E3) students, with data collected through written tests, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis involved data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing by identifying, categorizing, and describing student errors based on test results and interviews. The findings indicate that the errors included conceptual, procedural, and calculation errors. Conceptual errors were characterized by an inability to understand the relationships between sides in a right-angled triangle and the application of sine, cosine, and tangent. Procedural errors were evident in unsystematic solution steps, while calculation errors stemmed from a lack of precision in arithmetic operations. Interviews revealed that these errors were influenced by a lack of understanding of basic trigonometric concepts, insufficient practice, and low precision in calculations. Overall, the findings suggest that mastering basic concepts is the primary factor that needs to be strengthened to reduce student errors in solving trigonometry problems.

Abstract

Students' ability in solving mathematical word problems, especially in the Two-Variable Linear Equation System (SLS), is still relatively low because many students have difficulty in understanding the context of the problem, determining the solution strategy, and developing higher-order thinking skills. This study aims to analyze the cognitive processes of class X B students of SMA Negeri 1 Kota Tambolaka in solving SLS story problems based on Bloom's Taxonomy. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach involving 23 students as test participants, then six students were selected by purposive sampling to be interviewed representing the high, medium, and low ability categories. Data were collected through written tests, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model with triangulation as a test of data validity. The results showed that high-ability students were able to reach all levels of cognitive processes (C1–C6), medium-ability students reached C1–C4 but still experienced difficulties in C5 and C6, while low-ability students only reached C1–C3 and were not yet able to perform analysis, evaluation, and creation adequately. These findings indicate that students' higher-order thinking skills have not developed evenly, so teachers need to design learning and assessments that gradually train analytical, evaluation, and creative skills in solving mathematical story problems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of digital literacy and critical thinking skills, both partially and simultaneously, on the learning outcomes of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Kedungwaru. The study used a quantitative approach with an ex post facto type. The study population was 193 students, with a sample of 130 students selected using proportional random sampling techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires and grade documentation, then analyzed using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS version 25. The results showed that digital literacy had a positive and significant effect on learning outcomes (sig. = 0.000 < 0.05). Critical thinking skills also had a positive and significant effect on learning outcomes (sig. = 0.000 < 0.05). Simultaneously, digital literacy and critical thinking skills had a positive and significant effect on learning outcomes (sig. = 0.000 < 0.05). The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.893 indicates that both variables contributed 89.3% to learning outcomes, while the remaining 10.7% was influenced by factors outside the study. This finding suggests that improving digital literacy and critical thinking skills play a significant role in improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Mathematics learning still faces challenges in increasing student engagement and understanding of abstract concepts. The dominance of conventional learning methods such as lectures causes the learning process to be teacher-centered, resulting in students being less active in building conceptual understanding. Studies on the picture-to-picture cooperative learning model in mathematics learning are still limited, particularly in explaining the role of visual representations in understanding mathematical concepts. This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing the picture-to-picture cooperative learning model on students' mathematics learning outcomes and identify its contribution in supporting conceptual understanding. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method through the analysis of various relevant previous research articles. Data are analyzed descriptively to obtain an overview of the implementation and effectiveness of the model in mathematics learning. The results of the study indicate that the picture-to-picture cooperative learning model can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes through the use of images as a representation medium that helps connect abstract concepts with visual experiences. This model also encourages student activity, cooperation, and involvement in the learning process. Thus, picture-to-picture can be an alternative learning strategy to improve the quality of mathematics learning.

Abstract

Low student learning outcomes in the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subject indicate a need for more innovative and interactive learning media. This study aims to determine the differences and improvements in student learning outcomes before and after using a Monopoly-style board game as a learning medium for the topic "The Joy of Rawatib Prayers." The study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method and a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects consisted of 16 third-grade students from SDN 1 Sukarapih. Data were collected through tests, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test, and N-Gain analysis with the aid of IBM SPSS Statistics 26. The results indicate a significant difference in learning outcomes before and after using the Monopoly board game, with an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Average learning outcomes also improved, with an N-Gain value of 0.4140, falling into the medium category. Thus, the use of the Monopoly board game is associated with improved student learning outcomes regarding the topic of Rawatib prayers and can serve as an alternative PAI learning medium in elementary schools.

Abstract

Science learning on the topic of Earth Savior is still dominated by theoretical delivery of material so that students have difficulty linking the concept of environmental conservation with problems they encounter in everyday life. This condition indicates the need for contextual learning media that can provide a more meaningful learning experience. This study aims to develop contextual learning media based on biopores and test its level of validity and practicality as a science learning medium for sixth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Rejoagung, Tulungagung Regency. The study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects consisted of material experts, media experts, and 11 sixth grade students. Data were collected through expert validation sheets and student response questionnaires, then analyzed descriptively quantitatively and qualitatively. The results showed that the media obtained a validity level of 92.5% from material experts and 80% from media experts with a valid category, while the practicality test obtained a percentage of 95.91% with a very practical category. Thus, the biopore-based contextual learning media is declared valid and practical for use in science and science learning. This research was limited to testing validity and practicality, so testing the media's effectiveness on learning outcomes has not been conducted, creating an opportunity for further research.
