Abstract

The Indonesian education system has undergone a profound transformation during the reform era that began in the late 1990s. This period of democratic change, economic shifts, and societal developments has reshaped the educational landscape in Indonesia. In this research, we explore the intricate evolution of the Indonesian education system during the reform era and emphasize the paramount importance of quality education. We argue that empowering teachers is instrumental in achieving this goal, positioning them at the core of meaningful educational reform. The shift from a centralized, rigid education system to a decentralized, adaptable one marked a seismic change in the Indonesian education system. The introduction of a competency-based curriculum aimed to equip students with essential skills, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities to prepare them for a dynamic global economy. Our research underscores the central role of teachers in shaping the quality of education and their pivotal position within the Indonesian education system. Empowering teachers becomes a fundamental prerequisite for the successful implementation of educational reforms. By investing in teachers, Indonesia can unlock its potential to create a more vibrant and dynamic education system, fostering enhanced student learning, ongoing professional development, and inclusivity.

Abstract

In our comprehensive study, "Analyzing the Socio-Political Dynamics and Curriculum Challenges in Indonesian Islamic Schools," we delved into the intricate world of Madrasah education in Indonesia. Our research aimed to understand the complex relationship between these institutions' socio-political dynamics and curriculum challenges. With their historical significance in Indonesia's education system, Madrasahs provide religious and secular knowledge. However, their sustainability in a rapidly changing world hinged on addressing critical issues, particularly the balance between religious and secular content and the impact of socio-political factors. Our research objectives encompassed a thorough analysis of curriculum challenges, examining socio-political influences, and identifying strategies for sustainable development. We employed various research methods, including surveys, interviews, and document analysis, strictly adhering to ethical considerations. Our study's results, presented entirely in the past tense, unveiled the intricate challenges faced by Madrasahs, including curriculum content, pedagogical methods, and resource limitations, significantly affecting student learning outcomes and the alignment of Madrasah curricula with national educational goals. Socio-political dynamics were found to play a central role in shaping Madrasah education, influencing autonomy, cohesion, and cultural preservation. Moreover, our study identified key strategies, including curriculum reform, teacher training, and community engagement, offering a roadmap for the sustainable development of Madrasah education in Indonesia. Our insights can guide policymakers, educators, and communities to ensure Madrasah education's continued relevance and inclusivity in a dynamic educational landscape.

Abstract

This paper aims to provide an overview of trend issues regarding writings related to web-based learning (WBL) in the scope of mathematics education. This paper comes from 51 writings taken from the Scopus data base for the last 10 years, namely 2013-2023. The method used is bibliometric analysis using the help of Vosviewer and Mendeley. Based on the results of this paper study, it was found that writing about WBL in mathematics education is still low. There were 26 participating countries but the largest country, the United States, only produced 13 writings. In addition, collaboration between countries is still very low. Not only the linkage between countries, the relationship between keywords and WBL in mathematics education is also still few and tenuous. The keywords that are rarely used in writing related to web-based learning are about problem-based learning, high school, academic achievement, course design, flipped classroom, personalized learning, Moodle creativity, which are things that are closely related to learning approaches or methods. This is expected to be an opportunity and challenge in building novelty in future research.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of national education policies in achieving quality learning in higher Education in Indonesia. Using a mixed-methods approach, quantitative and qualitative data were collected from diverse stakeholders, including university administrators, faculty members, and students. The analysis revealed that 75% of administrators actively aligned their curricula with national objectives, demonstrating a commendable commitment. However, a significant challenge emerged, with 60% of administrators highlighting difficulties securing adequate funding for policy implementation, indicating a substantial barrier to effective execution. Positive correlations were identified, such as an 80% satisfaction rate among students regarding the relevance of their coursework to national development goals. Faculty members, in turn, perceived a positive impact on teaching methodologies (65%). Statistical analyses affirmed these trends, indicating a significant association (p < 0.05) between faculty development programs funded through national policies and enhanced teaching effectiveness. Despite these positive findings, challenges in resource allocation and potential limitations in generalization were acknowledged. Recommendations include targeted interventions to address funding disparities and further research exploring longitudinal impacts and contextual nuances. This study contributes valuable insights to policymakers, educators, and researchers, offering a nuanced understanding of the complex dynamics influencing the quality of learning in Indonesia's higher education landscape.
