Abstract

Character education in schools is becoming increasingly important in the formation of students' noble values in the complex modern era. However, the implementation of systematic and integrated character education management still faces various challenges in the field, including in the integration of character values into intracurricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities. This study aims to explore the implementation of character education management at MAN Kota Pasuruan. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that MAN Kota Pasuruan has succeeded in effectively integrating character values into the curriculum through the Pancasila Rahmatan lil ‘Alamin project, as well as implementing a holistic assessment system that includes cognitive and character aspects of students. This study provides theoretical contributions by strengthening the understanding of the interaction of various approaches to character education, as well as practical recommendations for the development of character education programs in other madrasas. These findings are expected to be a reference for educational institutions in increasing the effectiveness of character education through systematic and collaborative management.

Abstract

The importance of facilities, infrastructure and human resource management in creating a quality learning environment, especially at Dayah as a traditional Islamic educational institution which faces various limitations. This research discusses the management of facilities, infrastructure and human resources (HR) in Dayah to increase learning effectiveness. Dayah, as a traditional Islamic educational institution in Aceh, faces challenges in managing facilities and human resources which are often limited. This research aims to evaluate the condition of facilities and infrastructure, HR management, and their contribution to the quality of learning. A qualitative approach is used through case studies. Data was obtained through observation, interviews with related informants, and documentation. The research results show that the management of facilities and infrastructure is not optimal, characterized by a lack of adequate planning, maintenance and distribution of facilities. On the other hand, human resource management, including teacher placement and training, plays an important role in utilizing facilities to support learning. Inhibiting factors include limited budget, space, and attention to facility maintenance. Synergistic management between facilities, infrastructure and human resources can create a conducive learning environment, improve the quality of education, and support the achievement of Dayah's vision as a superior Islamic educational institution. An integrated strategy is needed to overcome challenges and improve the quality of education in Dayah. It is hoped that this research can become a basis for policy makers, Dayah managers and other stakeholders in formulating more effective strategies for managing facilities, infrastructure and human resources, so as to improve the quality of learning and create a more sustainable education system.

The findings indicate that competency-based curriculum development, leadership capacity building, a transparent and fair performance evaluation system, and strengthening networks and partnerships are essential elements in creating and maintaining the competitiveness of Islamic educational institutions. Implementing these four strategies synergistically can enhance the quality of educational services, strengthen reputation, and attract students and parents alike. Thus, this research provides a comprehensive guide for leaders of Islamic educational institutions to achieve sustainable competitive advantage in a dynamic educational environment.

Abstract

Extortion is a form of intimidation or extortion involving threats and violence, and is one of the main problems that occur in the school environment. This study aims to determine the factors causing extortion conflicts and the strategies implemented by the principal. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through interviews, direct observation, and documentation. The subjects of this study were the principal, teachers, and students who were perpetrators or victims in extortion cases. Data validity was guaranteed through triangulation of techniques and sources. The data obtained were then analyzed through condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the factors causing extortion conflicts were: less supportive social and school environmental conditions, peer influence, and family background, such as ineffective parenting patterns. Meanwhile, the strategies implemented by the principal were: individual and group counseling approaches, strengthening religious values, and conflict management policies such as mediation and sanctions. Individual counseling helps perpetrators understand their impact, while group counseling builds students' awareness of the importance of mutual respect. Strengthening religious values through religious activities, such as Islamic studies and joint prayers, has also succeeded in forming better student character. The study contributes as a reference for schools in handling cases of radicalism or other violence.

Abstract

The teaching and learning of kitab kuning in pesantren remains a fundamental tradition, yet its management and evaluation process often lack systematic structure, affecting the effectiveness of pesantren’s educational outcomes. This research aims to analyze the planning, implementation, and evaluation of kitab kuning learning at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Qodim Al-Mansuriyah Taman Sari Pasuruan. This qualitative case study involved direct observation, interviews, and documentation analysis. The results indicate that the pesantren’s management of kitab kuning learning has been well-organized, with collaborative planning, effective teaching methods such as bandongan, and continuous evaluation through tests and daily monitoring. The evaluation methods include scheduled exams (written, oral, and reading tests) as well as non-test assessments like teacher observation during lessons. This integrated approach supports sustained improvement in teaching quality and student mastery, contributing to upholding the pesantren’s tradition of classical Islamic studies while adapting to modern educational standards.

Abstract

Leadership in Islamic education is not only administrative, but also spiritual and moral. The concept of imāmah according to Imam al-Māwardī offers ideal leadership principles that are relevant to address the challenges of contemporary Islamic education. However, until now there have not been many educational leadership models that systematically adapt these principles. This study explores the concept of imāmah as articulated by Imām al-Māwardī and its relevance to leadership in Islamic education. In the educational context, leadership goes beyond administrative management; it encompasses spiritual and moral guidance grounded in Islamic values. Through his seminal work al-Aḥkām al-Sulṭāniyyah, al-Māwardī outlines the essential qualities of an ideal imām—including justice (ʿadālah), knowledge (ʿilm), trustworthiness (amānah), wisdom (ḥikmah), and a commitment to consultative governance (shūrā). Employing a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis, this research investigates the values embedded in al-Māwardī’s theory of leadership and applies them to the framework of Islamic educational leadership. The findings suggest that integrating the principles of imāmah can foster a leadership model that is ethically sound, spiritually conscious, and adaptable to contemporary educational challenges. By embracing the values of justice, knowledge, and participatory leadership, Islamic educational leaders can cultivate a nurturing ecosystem that promotes character development and spiritual growth among students. This study aims to contribute both theoretically and practically to the advancement of a holistic and contextually relevant model of Islamic educational leadership.

Abstract

The high challenge of transparency and efficiency in the management of education funds in madrasas encourages the need to develop a model to strengthen accountable, participatory, and sustainable education cost governance to ensure access to quality and equitable education. This study aims to design a model to strengthen contextual and applicable education cost governance in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Swasta (MIS) Piladang, Fifty Cities Regency. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method, where data is collected through interviews, and participatory observation. The results of the study show that the financial management system at MIS Piladang still faces a number of challenges, such as delays in disbursing funds, arrears of education infaq, and limitations of the financial digitalization system. However, there are positive initiatives in the form of the involvement of the madrasah committee, as well as the preparation of Madrasah Activity Plans and Budgets (RKAM) based on real needs. The proposed governance strengthening model includes the application of good governance principles, digitization of financial management, community-based supervision, and cross-stakeholder collaboration. This model is expected to be able to improve the efficiency, transparency, and accountability of education cost governance, while supporting the achievement of a more equitable and equitable quality of education.
