Abstract

The This community service activity was conducted at the Javanese Christian Church in Banjarnegara with the aim of strengthening legal literacy and Christian spirituality for people with disabilities through synergy between the church and academics. The program was motivated by the still-poor understanding of the law and the limited participation of people with disabilities in church activities. Through a collaborative, participatory approach, this activity combines legal literacy training, spiritual reflection, and community-based mentoring. The training was conducted using workshops, service-learning, and pastoral care methods, involving law and theology lecturers, and church administrators. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in participants' legal knowledge, with an average increase of 37% between pre-test and post-test scores. Furthermore, this activity successfully fostered spiritual awareness, strengthening self-confidence, empathy, and solidarity within the congregation. The synergy between the church and academics also resulted in the development of an inclusive training module and a work plan for the "Learning Inclusive Church." Visible social impacts include increased participation of people with disabilities in church services, the formation of an internal advocacy group, and the emergence of a church commitment to implementing disability-friendly services on an ongoing basis.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk memahami dampak metodologi pengajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL),yang menggunakan video animasi untuk mempercepat siswa dalam memahami konsep fisika terkait materi energi baru. Penelitian ini mempergunakan desain eksperimen kuasi dengan Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Subjek penelitian adalah dua kelas X di MA Miftahul Ulum Bettet Pamekasan: kelas eksperimen yang mempergunakan paradigma PBL dengan bantuan film animasi dan kelas kontrol yang mempergunakan pendekatan STAD tradisional. Di antara alat yang dipergunakan adalah hasil pretest dan posttest dari ganda serta ringkasan pengamatan yang dilakukan selama proses pengajaran. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbandingan antara nilai pretes dan postes menunjjukan hasil yang signifikan dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol. Peningkatan keseluruhan skor pemahaman konsep pada kelompok eksperimen senilai 39,81%,dan hanya 21,84 persen di kelompok kontrol. Uji t mendapatkan signifikansi 0,0000 < 0,05, yang bisa diartikan penggunaan model PBL dengan video animasi mempunyai dampak yang cukup penting pada pemahaman siswa. Effect size yang diperoleh mencapai 0,836 (termasuk ke dalam kategori tinggi) dapat diartikan dampak dari penelitian ini sangat jelas. Hasil observasi juga mendukung jika pelaksanaan proses pembelajaran di kelas eksperimen memag cukup baik. Dengan begitu, bisa dikatakan jika Model PBL efektif digunakan untuk memperdalam pemahaman. siswa terhadap konsep fisika dan dapat menjadi alternatif metode pengajaran tradisional di era Merdeka.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of a Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach integrated with audio-visual media on students' vocabulary mastery at SMP Dharma Wanita Medan. A quasi-experimental method was employed involving 80 eighth-grade students divided into control and experimental groups. The experimental group received instruction through CRT-based audio-visual materials, while the control group was taught using conventional methods. Data were collected using pre-tests and post-tests and analyzed with an independent sample t-test. The findings showed a statistically significant improvement in vocabulary scores in the experimental group (Sig. 2-tailed = 0.004), highlighting that culturally relevant media can significantly enhance vocabulary acquisition, motivation, and student engagement. This demonstrates that the integration of CRT with audio-visual media is effective in promoting student engagement, contextual learning, and vocabulary retention in EFL settings. The study recommends that educators adopt CRT principles and utilize localized audiovisual content to foster inclusive and meaningful language learning experiences.

Abstract

This training aims to enhance the creativity of English language teachers in teaching speaking skills through approaches based on Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT), as well as the utilization of available technology. The activity was conducted over two days with lectures, discussions, and hands-on practice sessions. The first day focused on theory and discussions regarding creative and relevant speaking teaching techniques, while the second day provided participants with the opportunity to practice the speaking activities they had designed. The results of the training showed a significant improvement in teachers' creativity in designing more varied and engaging speaking activities. Participants also realized that creativity in teaching does not always depend on advanced technology but can be maximized by utilizing available resources in the school environment. Additionally, they gained important insights on how to overcome resource limitations with creative ideas that can be applied in their classrooms. However, some challenges were identified, particularly in the application of technology and the adaptation of new methods in diverse classroom contexts. This training is expected to contribute to the development of more creative and effective English language teaching.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the form and function of illocutionary speech acts in the podcast "Supaya Sembuh dari Trauma," hosted by Raditya Dika and Dr. Jiemi Ardian. The focus of this research is to understand how language plays a role as a therapeutic communication medium in the trauma recovery process. The research method used was a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were obtained through listening and note-taking of the utterances in the podcast conversations, then analyzed using Searle's speech act theory, which includes five categories: assertive, directive, expressive, commissive, and declarative. The analysis revealed nine utterances containing illocutionary elements: two assertive utterances that function to convey information, three directive utterances that serve to request or inquire, two expressive utterances that indicate the speaker's feelings, one commissive utterance containing a statement of commitment, and one declarative utterance that establishes a decision. These findings indicate that directive and assertive speech acts are the most dominant forms because they play a role in building empathy, conveying education, and encouraging listener engagement. Thus, the use of language in this podcast not only serves as an informative tool but also has social and psychological dimensions that support the communicative healing process of trauma.

Abstract

Community service is one of the pillars of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, aimed at applying knowledge to provide solutions to societal problems. This service research was carried out in Samangraya Village, Citangkil District, Cilegon City, which has the potential for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), but faces challenges in business organization, promotion, and branding. Additionally, social challenges, such as low youth participation, are also a concern. The method used in this program is Participatory Action Research (PAR), where students collaborate actively with the community to identify problems, design, and implement programs. This activity took place from July 21 to August 25, 2025, and included several main programs: shop layout redesign, promotional media design (banners), product logo creation, MSME seminars, and participation in social activities such as the commemoration of Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day. he results of this activity showed significant positive impacts, including an increase in visual appeal and store comfort, the creation of a product’s visual identity through logos and banners, expanded marketing knowledge for MSME actors, and strengthened community solidarity. This program proves that thematic Community Service (KKN) with a participatory approach is effective in empowering the local economy while also strengthening social cohesion within the community.

Abstract

The 5R quality management principles (Ringkas, Rapi, Resik, Rawat, Rajin) have proven effective in improving discipline, efficiency, and orderliness in vocational education environments (Kaizen Institute, 2025). This Community Service Program (PKM) aimed to enhance teachers’ competence in applying the 5R principles through training, mentoring, and hands-on implementation by transforming a storage room into a functional classroom. Nationally, the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS, 2024) reported that 35.66% of vocational classrooms in Indonesia are damaged. The results show improved teacher understanding of the 5R principles through an experiential learning approach and the successful transformation of a previously cluttered and dark storage room into a clean, bright, and functional classroom. The implementation of 5R not only improved the school’s physical facilities but also fostered a collaborative, disciplined, and sustainable work culture within the vocational education environment.

Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) has significantly impacted the field of electronics. This community service program aims to provide fundamental knowledge of AI and IoT concepts and introduce their practical implementation through Arduino-based microcontroller projects. The program consisted of socialization, training, and demonstration of systems applicable in monitoring and simple automation. The results showed an increase in participants' understanding of AIoT concepts and their ability to operate IoT-based devices. Participants were also able to design simple prototypes by integrating sensors and actuators. This activity is expected to provide academic communities and electronics practitioners with essential knowledge and initial skills to face AIoT technological developments.

Abstract

Early career planning is an essential aspect to ensure that students have clear direction and goals in both education and future employment. This study aims to enhance the understanding of ninth-grade students at MTs Sirojul Af’idah regarding the importance of planning their careers based on potential, interests, and aspirations. A qualitative method was applied through observation of students’ understanding before and after the career education activities, which were carried out using lectures and interactive discussions. The findings indicate an increase in students’ awareness of the urgency of designing career plans aligned with their talents and life goals. Furthermore, the program motivated students to pursue higher education at relevant levels, improved their communication skills, and encouraged the exploration of new interests. Despite challenges such as limited time and the absence of continuous mentoring, this educational activity had a positive impact on the students. Therefore, it is recommended that structured career counseling programs be implemented to further support students in effectively planning their future.

Abstract

Thematic Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata or KKN) aims to empower local communities through the implementation of digitalization systems for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The program includes a series of activities such as socialization, assistance in creating QRIS and Google Maps accounts, product photography training, frame design, the establishment of a live streaming studio, and digital marketing training. The results show that digitalization has a positive impact on improving MSME accessibility and marketing, although challenges in technological infrastructure still remain.
