Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance the awareness and skills of students at SMP Negeri 18 Bengkulu Utara, Enggano Island, in organic waste management through the production of liquid organic fertilizer (POC). The main issue underlying this activity is the low understanding among the younger generation regarding organic waste management and local farmers' dependence on synthetic chemical fertilizers. The method employed was participatory action learning, comprising theoretical socialization, demonstration, and direct practice over two days. A total of 30 students were divided into small groups to practice making POC using local organic waste, rice washing water, molasses, and EM4 as a fermentation starter. The results showed a significant increase in students' understanding of organic waste recycling and environmentally friendly agriculture, measured through observation and participant reflection. Additionally, a commitment was formed among students to continue the independent practice of POC production. This activity contributes to strengthening environmental literacy among young generations in remote island areas while supporting sustainable agricultural achievements on Enggano Island

Abstract

This community service program aimed to strengthen the empowerment capacity of banana chips micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through appropriate production technologies and digital bookkeeping in Pamijahan Village, Bogor Regency, West Java, Indonesia. The program was implemented from June to October 2025 and involved 19 women MSME actors who were members of a local PKK-based banana chips business group. A participatory and practice-based approach was applied through five stages: needs assessment, training, technology implementation, mentoring, and evaluation. The production intervention included hygienic production training, the use of a banana slicing machine, an oil spinner, and hygiene equipment. The business management intervention focused on digital bookkeeping, cash-flow understanding, simple financial recording, and business planning assistance. The evaluation used descriptive indicators to compare partner conditions before and after the program. The results showed improvements in production efficiency, product consistency, hygienic practices, appropriate technology use, digital bookkeeping adoption, cash-flow understanding, and simple business planning. Production efficiency, based on observed reductions in slicing and oil-reduction time supported by partner reports, increased by up to 30%. In addition, all participants used hygiene equipment during production practice, and 15 out of 19 participants, or approximately 79%, began recording income and expenses using a simple digital bookkeeping application. The program indicates that the integration of appropriate production technologies and digital bookkeeping can serve as a practical empowerment model for women-led food-based MSMEs in rural communities.

Abstract

Urban food security in Bandar Lampung faces increasingly complex challenges due to households’ high dependence on market supplies, food price fluctuations, distribution disruptions, an increasing urban population, and the presence of food-insecure priority areas. This study aims to analyze the Bandar Lampung City Government’s policy strategies for strengthening urban farming as an instrument of urban food security, identify priority issues, evaluate policy alternatives, and formulate integrated policy recommendations. This study employs a qualitative-descriptive approach based on policy analysis, utilizing secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Food Security and Vulnerability Atlas, local government documents, relevant regulations, and pertinent scientific literature. The analysis was conducted through problem identification, prioritization using the urgency, seriousness, and growth method, the avoid–shift–improve strategic framework, and an evaluation of four policy alternatives based on economic, social, political, and technical aspects. The research results indicate that the main issues regarding food security in Bandar Lampung are households’ high dependence on markets for fresh produce, the suboptimal development of backyard and community-based urban farming, and the weak integration of urban farming with the city’s food security policies. Of the four alternatives analyzed, the integration of urban farming.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of self-efficacy on the English writing ability of fourth-semester students in the English Language Study Program at UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu. Self-efficacy refers to an individual’s belief in their capability to accomplish specific tasks and achieve desired goals. In English writing, self-efficacy is considered essential because effective writing requires confidence, grammatical competence, vocabulary mastery, organization of ideas, and the ability to express thoughts clearly in written form. This research employed a quantitative method with a descriptive approach and a field research design. The population consisted of 61 fourth-semester students from the English Language Study Program, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Tadris, and all students were selected as the sample through a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and supported by documentation. The research instruments were tested for validity and reliability, while the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality and linearity tests, t-test analysis, and the coefficient of determination (R²) with the assistance of SPSS version 25. The findings revealed that self-efficacy had a positive and significant effect on students’ English writing ability. The t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05) and a t-value of 8.038, which exceeded the t-table value of 1.999. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.523, indicating that self-efficacy contributed 52.3% to students’ English writing ability, while the remaining 47.7% was influenced by other factors beyond the scope of this study. In conclusion, self-efficacy plays a significant role in enhancing students’ English writing performance. Students with higher levels of self-confidence tend to demonstrate better achievement in writing tasks. Therefore, lecturers and educational institutions are encouraged to foster students’ self-efficacy to improve their academic writing skills.

Abstract

This study analyzes the contribution of the Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) toward achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the local level through the perspective of policy implementation. The research is based on the assumption that the success of social protection programs is not solely determined by policy design, but also by the quality of implementation within specific social contexts. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design conducted in Kelurahan Durian Depun, Kecamatan Merigi, Kabupaten Kepahiang. Informants were selected purposively and developed through snowball sampling, consisting of PKH facilitators, village officials, beneficiary families (KPM), and non-beneficiary community members. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles et al. through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that PKH implementation administratively has been carried out according to procedural standards through cash assistance distribution, P2K2 mentoring activities, and monitoring of education and health obligations. However, procedural compliance has not fully produced substantive changes in economic independence and long-term social transformation. The program contributes positively to improving access to education and health services, supporting SDG 3 and SDG 4, as well as reducing household expenditure burdens related to SDG 1. Nevertheless, the contribution remains conditional because the effectiveness of the program is strongly influenced by communication, facilitator capacity, bureaucratic coordination, and the participation level of beneficiary families. Structural factors such as employment conditions, age, health limitations, and accessibility also affect beneficiary involvement in mentoring activities. Therefore, PKH in the research location tends to function more as a social protection instrument than as an empowerment mechanism. The study concludes that the success of PKH should not only be measured through administrative compliance and aid distribution, but also through its ability to create sustainable socio-economic transformation and reduce dependency on social assistance.

Abstract

The Free Nutritious Meals Program (MBG) is a 2026 national strategic policy aimed at improving the quality of Indonesian Human Resources (HR) from an early age. Universitas Terbuka (UT) carried out Community Service (PkM) activities at the Al-Kautsar Islamic Boarding School Foundation in Pamulang, South Tangerang, with the aim of accompanying the implementation of the program scientifically and structurally. The main problems faced were the lack of understanding among the school kitchen managers regarding the diversification of balanced nutritious menus, hygiene standardization, and food management based on local ingredients. The implementation method comprises four stages: field observation, education through the “Isi Piringku” workshop, action accompaniment in menu preparation, and regular monitoring. The results showed an 88.9% increase in nutritional literacy of managers based on pre-test and post-test results, the formation of nutritionally standardized weekly menus, and significant improvement of kitchen sanitation systems. This collaboration proves that universities can be effective catalysts in the success of government programs in religious-based educational institutions, while contributing to improving the nutritional status and learning achievement of students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine philosophically the nature of curriculum and the position of mathematics in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at the junior secondary school level. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study design conducted at SMP Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan, North Sumatra. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with mathematics teachers, the principal, and students, as well as documentation studies covering teaching modules, learning outcomes, school operational curriculum documents, and assessment instruments. The findings show that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in mathematics learning still faces several philosophical and pedagogical tensions. First, there is an epistemological gap between the curriculum orientation that emphasizes contextual reasoning and learner autonomy and the long-standing view of mathematics as a rigid and procedural subject. Second, teachers’ understanding of the curriculum philosophy is still largely limited to technical and administrative matters. Third, the integration of the Pancasila Student Profile in mathematics learning tends to remain symbolic rather than becoming a meaningful part of the learning process. Fourth, mathematics teachers experience dilemmas related to differentiated learning, limited instructional time, varied student abilities, and assessment demands. This study concludes that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum requires a stronger philosophical understanding regarding the ontology, epistemology, and axiology of mathematics education. Therefore, strengthening teachers’ philosophical perspectives is important so that curriculum transformation does not stop at the level of documents but can also be reflected in classroom practices.

Abstract

Classroom Action Research (CAR) is an important tool for teachers to improve the quality of learning and professionalism. However, teachers at the State Islamic Senior High School (Madrasah Aliyah) in Bengkulu City still face obstacles in designing proposals and preparing CAR reports correctly and in a structured manner. Therefore, this training activity was held to strengthen teacher capacity through an understanding of basic CAR concepts, proposal and report writing strategies, and hands-on practice in creating CAR documents. The activity was carried out in stages, starting from identifying classroom problems, formulating objectives, selecting a methodological approach, and preparing the final report. The results of the activity showed that teachers experienced increased knowledge and skills in preparing CAR proposals and reports, and demonstrated a strong commitment to implementing the training outcomes in the learning process. This training also encouraged a culture of research among madrasah teachers and facilitated the fulfillment of promotion requirements. For sustainable impact, it is recommended that such training be conducted periodically with more intensive field mentoring.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to empower early childhood education (PAUD) teachers and parents in Lengkong Kulon Village through participatory composting training. The program was motivated by the high volume of unmanaged household organic waste, limited community understanding of sustainable waste management, and the potential for integrating environmental and nutritional issues into early childhood learning. Conducted in November 2025, the program involved 15 participants (12 parents/guardians and 3 PAUD teachers). Implementation followed three phases: (1) preparation through coordination and module development, (2) implementation involving counseling, demonstration, and hands-on composting practice, and (3) evaluation through pre-test/post-test, observation, and post-training mentoring. Results demonstrated a significant increase in participants' knowledge, with mean scores rising from 52.3 (low category) to 85.7 (high category), with an average N-Gain of 0.70 (high category). All participants (100%) successfully practiced composting; 80% began sorting organic waste at home, and 60% used compost to fertilize household vegetable gardens. PAUD teachers initiated a "Our PAUD Garden" project and developed daily lesson plans integrating ecological values. The program contributes to community capacity building toward sustainability aligned with SDGs Goals 2, 4, 11, and 12. Practical-based training effectively builds ecological awareness and household food security
