Abstract

This article aims to provide an overview of pioneer orientation initiatives designed to promote religious moderation among religious leaders in West Kalimantan, organized by the Regional Office of West Kalimantan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs. The content of this article is derived from our community engagement activities at Hall 2 of the Asrama Haji [Hajj Dormitory]. The importance of strengthening religious moderation among religious leaders in West Kalimantan cannot be overstated, given their crucial role in promoting religious harmony. This reinforcement is achieved through pioneer orientation activities aimed at preparing religious leaders to incorporate religious moderation into their daily practices within the community. The material for these pioneer orientation activities to strengthen religious moderation is provided using the discovery learning model. This model maximizes participants' ability to systematically, critically, and logically explore and investigate, allowing them to independently acquire the knowledge, attitudes, and skills required for religious moderation within the context of their roles. The desired outcome is a tangible change in behavior. An analysis of the pretest and posttest results, as well as the assessment process that we conducted reveals a significant increase in knowledge, accompanied by shifts in attitudes and behavior of religious leaders towards a more moderate approach.

Abstract

Differentiated learning is an instructional approach designed to address the diverse needs of students, considering their varying levels of readiness, interests, talents, and learning styles. Challenges such as low student engagement and the limited capacity of teachers to adapt instructional materials have been identified as key issues. This Community Service Program aims to assist teachers at SMPN 1 Padalarang in developing and implementing differentiated learning strategies, promoting student-centered activities and improving student engagement. The program employs a service-learning approach, structured into three phases: preparation, which includes partner location surveys and module development; service delivery, involving theoretical socialization, group discussions, and classroom mentoring; and reflection, which entails academic assessments, satisfaction surveys, and evaluation reporting. The results of this community service initiative indicate a significant improvement in the knowledge and insights of the teachers at SMPN 1 Padalarang, West Bandung Regency, with 95% of participants demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of differentiated learning implementation in the classroom. Additionally, the teachers showcased enhanced skills in designing Lesson Plans (RPP) that integrate differentiated learning in terms of content, process, and products, achieving an average success rate of 90%. Furthermore, a Discussion Group Forum focused on differentiated learning was established, providing a platform for continuous professional development. Notable outcomes also include the selection of lead teachers for differentiated learning and the initiation of a monthly program by the Subject Teachers Association (MGMP) aimed at reflecting on and setting learning goals based on differentiated instruction principles.

Abstract

Environmental crises and degradation have become prominent issues in the past decade, exacerbated by misinterpretations of religious values and local wisdom. Rather than acting as stewards of the environment, humans have contributed to ecological problems. This Community Service Program collaborates with PWGT Bua Tallulolo, who have been identified as lacking the resources and capacity to address the environmental crisis effectively. The primary goal of this Community Service Program is to provide guidance and support in understanding the church's mission and its relationship with religious attitudes towards environmental stewardship through the "Misi Keugaharian" program. The service-learning approach was employed in this PKM, comprising four key stages: The program began with assessing core challenges faced by PWGT, followed by socialization and coaching on "Misi Keugaharian," enhancing participants' understanding of integrating ecological values. Continuous mentoring supported practical application, while the evaluation phase reviewed feedback and observed behavior changes, confirming the program’s impact and providing insights for future initiatives. The results of this PKM indicate that the members of PWGT Bua Tallulolo have successfully understood and applied the teachings of the "Misi Keugaharian" in both family and church settings. Moreover, participants have expressed a desire for future Community Service Program initiatives to focus on activities with a more direct and tangible impact on the broader community.
