Abstract

Abstract

Bangsri is a village in the Plandaan Sub-district, Jombang Regency, East Java Province, where most residents live as farmers. In Bangsri, several farmers and breeders have over 500 goats and sheep. However, they face challenges in processing goat manure into solid and liquid organic fertilizers that would be more beneficial for plants. Currently, goat farmers lack the innovation to process the manure, often just piling it up or discarding it. Additionally, the sharecropping system in agriculture is becoming increasingly unprofitable, and crop yields are suboptimal, particularly during the dry season, due to high processing costs. As a result, many rice fields are abandoned by their owners. The way to overcome this problem is through a service-learning approach. In service activities, the team provides training and assistance in making organic fertilizer to provide added value for farmers and breeders. As a result, farmers and breeders have started implementing the techniques learned in the training to produce both solid and liquid organic fertilizers. This initiative has been positively received in Bangsri Village, with noticeable improvements in crop yields

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of mental health assistance through HERO training (focusing on hope, self-efficacy, resilience, and optimism) in improving the psychological well-being of parents of Indonesia immigrants in Malaysia who are vulnerable to declining psychological wellbeing. Using a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design in a large group, this training was carried out for one week with 2 sessions per meeting lasting 60-120 minutes. The material was delivered using the concept of experiential learning through lecturing, audio-visual, written assignments, discussions, games, and reflection. The participants were parents of students aged 30-50 years old from Sanggar Bimbingan Kampung Baru Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Psychological well-being is measured using The Ryff Scale of Psychological Well-being. Analysis of quantitative data showed significant differences between before and after training, proving that the level of psychological well-being improved after HERO training was administered.

Abstract

Children with special needs often face challenges in recognizing animal shapes and sounds. This community service program (PKM), based on the Service Learning approach, developed an application called Teh Melati, which utilizes Augmented Reality (AR) by combining 3D animation with traditional 2D flashcards to aid in animal recognition. The PKM was conducted over one day with 32 students with disabilities aged 6–14 years (N=32) at HS-Lantaburo. The Service Learning methodology involved actively engaging the community (teachers, parents, and students) in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the learning intervention. Students participated in an interactive animal exploration game that focused on animal images and sounds. Pre-intervention test scores averaged 63.75, while post-intervention scores increased to 81.25. A total of 25 students (78% of the participants) showed significant improvement. The active participation of teachers and parents in hands-on workshops further extended the impact of the intervention. These results demonstrate that learning gaps in special needs education can be addressed through community involvement and the integration of 3D flashcard animation technology, with Service Learning serving as an effective framework for creating meaningful educational experiences for both the students and the community.
