Abstract

Women in Indonesia often bear the primary responsibility for household and childcare, a role inconsistent with global gender equality principles. This study focuses on a women’s farming group in the Griya Wana Karya Permai housing complex, Bubulak Village, Bogor City, who transformed public facility land into productive horticultural areas. To support their efforts, training was provided on producing liquid organic fertilizer to enhance crop productivity. The initiative also introduced hydroponic systems for cultivating vegetables like pak choy. Results showed that the women farmers successfully utilized organic waste to create both liquid and solid fertilizers, improving horticultural yields and contributing to family income. This activity not only promoted sustainable agriculture but also empowered women by providing them with new skills and economic opportunities, aligning with SDGs on gender equality, food security, and climate action

Abstract

Fishermen operating in coastal areas tend to face the problem of long-term poverty. Fish sales activities carried out in the long term have not been able to boost the welfare of coastal fishermen. One of the strategies that can be done so that the business not only survives but also experiences growth is to compile bookkeeping. In their business, not all fishermen do bookkeeping due to limited knowledge. Therefore, this community service activity aims to provide education and bookkeeping training for fishermen and fishmongers in Seri Hamlet, Nusaniwe District, Ambon City. Fifteen fishermen and seven fishmongers attended the activity. The service method uses the Service Learning (SL) method. There are two stages in this SL method. The first was education about the importance of bookkeeping for business. The second stage was training in bookkeeping. The activity results showed that after education and training, participants experienced increased knowledge about the bookkeeping model as measured by indicators such as identifying transactions, recording transactions, and preparing profit and loss statements. Before participating in the activity, the average score of participants was 89, and after participating in the activity, the average score was 95. This shows that the bookkeeping training has improved fishermen's knowledge of bookkeeping.

Abstract

Youth play a critical role in national development, especially in the tourism sector. The GSJA Bukit Hermon organization in Sorong City has primarily focused on leadership training, but has not yet addressed language skills, a key component of soft skills. With the significant tourism potential of Southwest Papua, local youth face challenges in communicating with tourists and lack vocabulary related to tourism. This Community Service Program aims to improve the English skills of GSJA youth using the Whispering Animation Game, a mobile application designed to help them understand and describe tourism destinations in English. The program adopts a Service Learning approach, involving five stages: (1) introduction to the application, (2) English training using the game, (3) application implementation, (4) practical guidance, and (5) program evaluation. Evaluation results showed a significant improvement in participants' understanding of local tourism sites, with knowledge increasing from 21.2% to 93.6%, a 72.4% improvement. The N-gain score of 0.77 (76.9%) indicates the effectiveness of the app in enhancing vocabulary and listening skills. This improvement supports the role of youth in tourism development and can create new job opportunities.

Abstract

This regional community service program seeks to empower Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Semarang sub-districts of Meteseh and Tembalang by integrating clean energy solutions and smart technology. Meteseh faces significant challenges with plastic waste management, while Tembalang struggles with maintaining a stable energy supply for its MSMEs. To address these issues, the project introduced a solar-powered smart plastic waste shredding machine in Meteseh and a solar panel monitoring system in Tembalang. The shredding machine reduced unmanaged plastic waste by approximately 65%, enabling the processing of up to 15 kg of plastic per hour, while promoting recycling and environmental sustainability. In Tembalang, the solar energy system increased the operational hours of MSMEs’ craft production by 6–8 hours per day, resulting in a 100% increase in production capacity and a 30% reduction in operational energy costs. These initiatives have enhanced MSMEs’ productivity, sustainability, and resilience while fostering socio-cultural transformation and green economic awareness within the communities. The program demonstrates the measurable and transformative potential of clean energy and smart technology in regional development, offering a scalable and replicable model for sustainable economic growth across Indonesia and beyond.

Abstract

The main challenge faced by the Karang Bunga Village community is the low price of Siam Banjar oranges during the harvest season, which negatively affects the farmers' economy. To address this issue, it is necessary to diversify processed citrus products as part of the Citrus House business unit managed by the Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) "Berkah Bersama." This Community Service activity utilized the “service learning” method to train students in leadership skills through hands-on community empowerment efforts. One of the main focuses of the community service activity was developing an ice cream product made from Siam Banjar oranges, covering aspects such as production, packaging, and marketing. The results of the community service activity showed an increase in community skills and knowledge, with an average score of 2.99, indicating that the level of knowledge and skills falls within the "good" category. However, there are still challenges in the areas of packaging and marketing. The average score for the evaluation of the activity implementation was 3.42 (good category), and the average score for the resulting ice cream product was 3.13 (also in the good category). This activity is expected to improve product quality, expand market reach, and ultimately have a positive impact on the income of the village community.

Abstract

Safety education for elementary school students is essential for preparing them for emergencies and preventing casualties. However, SD Ummu Aiman, an elementary school in Malang with 653 students, was inadequately equipped in terms of both infrastructure and knowledge to respond effectively in emergencies. This community service initiative aimed to enhance the school’s emergency preparedness and evacuation system by providing evacuation infrastructure, conducting awareness training, simulating emergency drills, and promoting a safety culture through safety induction aimed at fostering behaviour-based safety. The awareness training resulted in an average increase in knowledge of 15.1 points among 53 teachers (p-value < 0.001), and evacuations were completed in under three minutes. It is anticipated that the knowledge and skills transferred to the teachers will be conveyed to the students, who are crucial for developing readiness for emergencies and fostering a safety-minded society in the future.

Abstract

This study explores the application of digital financial systems grounded in ISAK 35 to enhance accountability and governance within the RW 02 community in Kelurahan Kalisari, Surabaya. The program employed a Community-Based Research (CBR) methodology to rectify inefficiencies in manual financial reporting by implementing a digitalized system, concurrently including stakeholders in a participatory framework. The project produced substantial results, such as heightened community trust, improved decision-making via precise financial reporting, and augmented donor confidence in fund management. Nonetheless, obstacles such as disparate digital literacy levels and the maintenance of prolonged involvement surfaced, underscoring the necessity for intuitive solutions and specialized capacity-building initiatives. By incorporating lessons learned into academic curricula and utilizing participatory monitoring and evaluation, the initiative connected theory with practice. This effort provides critical insights for policymakers and practitioners, highlighting the significance of transparency, community empowerment, and scalable solutions in financial governance. Subsequent study must concentrate on guaranteeing sustainability and investigating the applicability of analogous systems in various circumstances. The project produced substantial results, such as heightened community trust, refined decision-making via precise financial reporting, and augmented donor confidence in fund administration.
