Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of using nearpod learning media in terms of students' interest in learning mathematics. The population and samples of this study were grade XI students. The type of research used in this study is pre-experimental research with a One group Pretest-Post test design with a quantitative approach. This research was conducted at MAN 2 Sinjai. The sample of this study amounted to 23 people using purposive sampling technique. The data collection methods used were observation and questionnaire of interest in learning mathematics. The data analysis technique used was descriptive test, data normality test, homogeneity test, N Gain test and hypothesis testing using paired sample t-test. The results of this study showed that nearpod learning media proved effective in terms of students' interest in learning mathematics. It can be seen from the results of descriptive analysis obtained that < or 45.17 < 72.91, meaning that the average interest in learning mathematics after nearpod media treatment is greater than before nearpod media treatment. In addition, the results of the hypothesis test using the paired sample t-test obtained a sig value of 0.001. The significance value is smaller than 0.05 or 0.001 <0.05. Thus, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. From these results it can be concluded that the nearpod learning media is effective in terms of interest in learning mathematics of grade XI students at MAN 2 Sinjai.

Abstract

Applied mathematics plays an important role in solving real-world problems, including in the agricultural product processing industry. This study aims to apply the Modified Ghadle-Munot method to solve employee assignment problems in a private company operating in chocolate production and to connect its implementation with applied mathematics learning. The core issue addressed is the imbalance between the number of employees and the number of production stages, which creates an unbalanced assignment problem. This study uses an applied quantitative research approach with assignment optimization as the main variable. Data were collected through interviews and documentation related to the production process and employee task distribution. The results showed that the Modified Ghadle-Munot method was able to reduce the total work time from an initial average of 970 minutes to 660 minutes. The application of this algorithm not only improves operational efficiency but also carries educational value. It can serve as a contextual case study in teaching applied mathematics, particularly in linear programming and optimization. Therefore, this research contributes both to practical problem-solving in small-scale industry settings and to strengthening real-world, problem-based learning in mathematics education.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Local Culture-Based Microlearning Strategy to enhance university students’ conceptual understanding and problem-solving ability in mathematics. Although microlearning has been widely recognized as an effective digital learning innovation, there remains a research gap in contextualizing this approach within local cultural frameworks to improve mathematical understanding at the higher education level. Grounded in constructivist and contextual learning theories, this study adopts a Research and Development (R&D) method using Thiagarajan’s 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The study involved 40 first-semester students of the Primary School Teacher Education Program (PGSD) at STKIP Yapis Dompu. The developed microlearning videos integrated Dompu’s local cultural elements to connect abstract mathematical concepts with students’ lived experiences. Data were analyzed through expert validation, student response questionnaires, and pretest–posttest comparisons using Normalized Gain (N-Gain) statistics. The expert validation yielded a mean score of 90.13%, categorized as Highly Valid, while student responses averaged 98.5% (Very Positive). The N-Gain analysis showed an average score of 0.7, indicating a moderate improvement in conceptual understanding and problem-solving ability. Theoretically, the findings demonstrate that embedding local culture within microlearning not only strengthens conceptual comprehension through contextual learning but also enhances cognitive engagement in mathematics. This study contributes to digital pedagogy by providing empirical evidence that culturally contextualized microlearning serves as an effective and feasible strategy for mathematics education in higher education.
