Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh kombinasi ketamin-xilazin dan propofol secara tunggal terhadap onset dan sedasi pada anjing jantan lokal (Canis familiaris). Dalam penelitian ini digunakan enam ekor anjing jantan lokal yang secara klinis dinyatakan sehat. Secara acak, seluruh anjing dibagi menjadi dua kelompok perlakuan, masing-masing kelompok perlakuan terdiri atas tiga ekor. Seluruh hewan coba dipuasakan selama 8-12 jam dan diberikan premedikasi atropin sulfat (0,04 mg/kg bobot badan) 10 menit sebelum pemberian anestesi. Kelompok I (K1) diinjeksikan dengan kombinasi ketamin (10 mg/kg bobot badan) dengan xilazin (2 mg/kg bobot badan) secara intravena, sedangkan kelompok II (K2) diinjeksikan dengan propofol (6,6 mg/kg bobot badan) secara intravena. Selanjutnya dilakukan pengamatan terhadap onset dan sedasi. Data yang diperoleh terhadap timbulnya onset dan sedasi dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji t. Rata-rata onset dan sedasi pada K1 vs K2 masing-masing adalah 25,3±1,52 vs 31,6±1,15 detik dan 14,5±3,06 vs 4,35±1,13 menit. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan perbedaan sangat nyata (P0,01) antara kedua kelompok perlakuan terhadap onset dan sedasi pada anjing jantan lokal. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kombinasi ketamin-xilazin memiliki waktu onset yang lebih cepat dan sedasi yang lebih lama dibandingkan dengan propofol secara tunggal pada anjing jantan lokal. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Kata kunci: anestesi, ketamin, propofol, xilazin

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengisolasi bakteri Aeromonas hydrophilla pada sisik ikan nila yang  diberi tepung daun jaloh (Salix tetrasperma Roxb). Dalam penelitian digunakan 12 ekor ikan nila gesit dengan bobot badan 35-40 g yang terdiri atas empat perlakuan. Masing-masing perlakuan terdiri atas 3 ekor ikan nila, yaitu, perlakuan P0 sebagai kontrol merupakan perlakuan yang diberi pakan komersil tanpa disubtitusi tepung daun jaloh, perlakuan P1, P2, dan P3 merupakan perlakuan yang diberi pakan komersil dan tepung daun jaloh masing-masing sebanyak 5, 10, dan 15%. Pemberian pakan dilakukan selama 30 hari. Air diganti setiap 3 hari sekali sebanyak 80%, selanjutnya pada hari ke-31 dilakukan pengambilan sampel dengan cara distrip pada sisik tubuh bagian linea lateralis. Koloni yang menciri dan terpisah, selanjutnya dilakukan pemeriksaan mikroskopis dengan metode pewarnaan Gram dan untuk identifikasi bakteri dilakukan dengan uji biokimia. Semua media diinkubasikan ke dalam inkubator pada suhu 27 °C selama 24 jam. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada sisik ikan nila yang diberi pakan yang disuplementasi 5-15% tepung daun jaloh tidak ditemukan adanya bakteri Aeromonas hydrophilla.

Abstract

This study aims to detect the presence of parasites indirectly by looking at antibodies to Trypanosoma evansi by using the method of Card Agglutination Test for Trypanosoma evansi (CATT). A total of 50 heads of buffaloes cut at Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar Slaughterhouses were taken blood for examination at the Parasitology and Research Laboratory of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Syiah Kuala University. The principle of the CATT method is to look at the bonds between antibodies and antigens. Positive results are characterized by the formation of agglutination on the CATT paperboard. The score of agglutination reactions is divided into 5 categories, positive triple (+++) indicates agglutination is very strong, which means the possibility of newly infected animals, positive two (++) signifies strong agglutination, which means the animal may have been infected long enough, one (+) denotes moderate agglutination, meaning the animal has already been infected with T. evansi, dubious (±) denotes weak or dubious agglutination and, negative (-) signifies no agglutination. The results showed that from 50 samples examined, 14% (7/50) positive samples of agglutination were very strong, 24% (12/50) positive samples of strong agglutination, 48% (24/50) positive samples of moderate agglutination, and 0 negative samples T. evansi. The CATT method is very sensitive because 86% of the 50 buffaloes are tested positive or infected with T. evansi.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the ability of neem leaf extract to maintain the normal blood profile of white male rat (Rattus norvegicus) infected with Trypanosoma evansi. A total of 24 male white rats were divided into 6 groups. The K0 group as the negative control received no T. evansi infection and no neem leaf extract. Furthermore, K1  group (positive control) only infected with T. evansi,  K2 and K3 were given neem leaf extract 50mg/kg BW and 100mg/kgBW, while K4 and K5 were given neem leaf extract 400mg/KgBW and  K5 800mg/kgBW. The neem leaf extract was administered for 3 consecutive days after infection established. The blood of the rats was collected to determine the amount of erythrocyte and leukocyte, hemoglobin level and hematocrit value. The data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) through SPSS for Windows 16.0. The averages (+SD) of erythrocyte of K0, K1, K2, K3, K4, and K5 were 5,64±0,57; 2,31±1; 1,93±0; 0; 2,55±0,33; and 2,56±0,48. The amount of leukocyte were 4,46±1,09; 4,45±1,91; 5,25±0; 0; 8,42±1,66; and 8,14± 5,17. The value of hemoglobin were 12,00±0,47; 10,50±0,57; 4,30±0; 0; 5,60±0,20; and 9,03±0,66. The level of hematocrit 38,00±1,83; 25,00±9,90; 15±0; 0; 18,00±2,65, and 20,75±1,71. The result showed that the administration of neem leaf extract with doses 400mg/kgBW and 800mg/kgBW were difference significantly (P0.05) compare to the positive control of rats, but could not equalize blood profile of uninfected white male rats

Abstract

The aim of this research was to evaluate the effect of chayote (Sechium edule) leaves infusion on hemoglobin and hematocrit level of anemic rat (Rattus norvegicus). Twelve anemic hemorrhagic male rats strain Wistar with body weight ranging from 175-200 g were used as sample in this research. Rats were divided randomly into 3 treatment groups, each group consist of 4 rats. The control group (P0) was not given chayote leaves infusion. Group P1 and P2 were given chayote leaves infusion with the concentration of 25% and 50% respectively, with dose of 1 ml per 200 gram body weight. Rats were fed with standard commercial food (Turbo feed) and aquadest ad libitum. The rats were treated anemic by taking 20% blood from total blood volume prior to administration of chayote laeves infusion. Chayote leaves infusion was given for 10 days consecutively. Blood sampling was carried out on day 0, 5, and 10 via caudal vein. Data were analyzed using anlysis of variance (ANOVA) Split-Plot pattern. The result showed that chayote leaves infusion increase level of hemoglobin and hematocrit in experimental rats. In conclusion 25% concentration of chayote leaves infusion is more effective than 50% concentration.Key words: anemia, chayote leaves, hemoglobin, hematocrit

Abstract

Menstruation is a transition process from puberty to adulthood. This is the physiological process for female adolescents. The purpose of this study is to describe the female adolescent's menstrual hygiene practice. This is descriptive analysis research. There are 42 respondents were selected by purposive sampling methods. The results of this study show that the female adolescent's practices of personal hygiene during menstruation were good (30%). And the recommendations are expected that female adolescents have to maintain their hygiene especially for genitalia or reproductive organs. And do not use the genitalia’s cleansers or deodorizers to prevent the occurrence of the diseases and the health problems of the reproductive organ.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengisolasi bakteri Salmonella sp. pada burung puyuh di Kecamatan Darul Imarah, Aceh Besar. Sampel penelitian yang digunakan adalah swab kloaka burung puyuh (Coturnix-coturnix japonica) dengan tiga tahap pemeriksaan yang dilakukan selama tiga minggu. Isolasi Salmonella sp. dilakukan dengan menginokulasi swab kloaka pada media selenite cystine broth (SCB) kemudian ditumbuhkan pada media selektif Salmonella shigella agar (SSA) dan diamati morfologi koloni. Koloni yang dicurigai Salmonella sp. ditanam pada media MR-VP (Oxoid), indol (Difco), Simmons’s citrate agar (Oxoid), triple sugar iron agar (TSIA), sulfide indol motility (SIM), dan media gula-gula (sukrosa, manitol, glukosa, dan laktosa). Hasil penelitian ini dianalisis secara deskriptif. Pada pemeriksaan sampel dari lima desa, ditemukan empat desa yang positif Salmonella sp. Dapat disimpulkkan bahwa beberapa burung puyuh yang dipelihara di Kecamatan Darul Imarah, Aceh Besar telah terinfeksi oleh Salmonella sp.

Abstract

The reproductive performances of aceh cattle in extreme environment is supported by its reproductive capacity system. This research wasconducted to study there productive system of aceh cattle by examining morphometric and histological characteristics of aceh cow ovaries duringthe estrous cycle. Fifteen Aceh mature cows during estrous cycle, with 200-300 kg of body weight were used in this study. Samples were takenfrom slaughter house in Banda Aceh Municipality, Aceh Province. The ovaries were observed morphometry, then fixed in Bouin solution andprocessed histologically. Ovaries were stained with hematoxylin and eosin to observe the morphometric characteristics of ovarian histology. Thedata obtained are presented in the form of tables and figures, and analyzed descriptively. Abstract

The purposed of this study was to test the administration effects of katuk leaves to the size of scrotal circumference of male local kacang goat. This study used 15 male local kacang goats with the age of +1,5 year old. These animals were divided into three groups,5 animals each and acclimatized for 2 weeks. The control group (P0) was given distilated water, group P1 was administered with katuk leaves powder at the dose of 7.44 g/head/day and group P2 was administered with katuk leaves powder at the dose of 14.88 g/head/day. All treatments were given per oral twice a day (at 07.30 AM and 16.30 PM) for 35 days, consecutively. All animals were given various pastures and grasses as well as water ad libitum every day. Pre and post treatment, all animals from each group were measured for the scrotal circumference using vernier caliper. Data were analyzed using ANOVA. The result showed that the average of scrotal circumference on P0, P1, and P2 were 1.99+1.00, 2.75+0.01, and 2.76+0.01 cm. There was significant different (P0.01) on the size of scrotal circumference between all groups. In conclusion, the administration of Sauropus androgyrus leaf powder increases the size of scrotal circumference of male local goat.Key words: scrotal circumference, willow leaf, male local goat

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui efek peningkatan suhu terhadap perubahan perilaku, patologi anatomi, dan histopatologi insang ikan  nila. Penelitian ini menggunakan 12 sampel ikan nila yang dibagi atas 4 kelompok. Kelompok I adalah perlakuan kontrol dengan suhu air 28°C, ikan pada kelompok II, III, IV dipelihara pada suhu 30° C, 32° C, dan 34° C selama 6 jam, mulai dari jam 09.00 sampai 15.00 Wib. Perubahan perilaku diamati setiap satu jam selama 6 jam perlakuan. Kemudian insang sampel diambil lalu difiksasi dalam larutan Davidson 10% dilanjutkan dengan pembuatan sediaan histopatologi menggunakan pewarnaan haematoksolin dan eosin (HE). Pengamatan histopatologi  dilakukan dengan mikroskop cahaya biokuler, kemudian dilakukan pemotretan dengan fotomikrograk. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif. Beberapa perubahan perilaku berupa pergerakan pasif, menurunnya refleks, dan gerakan operculum terjadi lebih cepat pada ikan nila kelompok II, III, dan IV.  Pada pemeriksaan patologi anatomi insang ikan nila didapati perubahan berupa over mucus, perubahan struktur insang, dan perubahan warna. Sementara hasil pemeriksaan histopatologi terhadap insang ikan nila ditemukan adanya epitelium terlepas, hiperplasia lamella primer, hiperplasia lamella sekunder, nekrosa, dan fusi lamella.
