Abstract

This article examines the impact of the implementation of the 2013 Curriculum (K-13) on the management and quality of learning in schools. K-13, introduced in 2013/2014, emphasizes a scientific approach and aims to balance soft skills and hard skills, including attitudes, skills, and knowledge, through student-centered and authentic learning. Effective implementation requires systematic management involving planning, implementation, control, and evaluation, as well as synergistic collaboration between principals and teachers. However, its implementation faces challenges such as limited teacher training, disparity in facilities, lack of a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation system, and difficulty in student adaptation. Nevertheless, the implementation of K-13 shows a positive and significant influence on the management and quality of learning, encouraging a more structured, innovative, and competency-oriented process. Success depends on strengthening teacher capacity, equalizing facilities, and actively involving all stakeholders to achieve the curriculum's goals in producing a productive, creative, innovative, and character-based generation.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the extent to which the use of concrete objects can help students understand the concept of volume, and how it affects student engagement and motivation to learn. This study aims to examine the use of concrete objects in learning the volume of spatial figures as an effort to improve the understanding of elementary school students. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. The subjects in this study were elementary school students. Data Collection Techniques used by researchers are Literature Review and Supporting Documents. The results show that the use of concrete object media in mathematics learning has proven effective in improving understanding of the concept of volume of spatial figures and encouraging active student participation in the learning process. Students become more motivated, dare to ask questions, and are able to understand abstract concepts gradually through direct experience and teacher guidance.

Abstract

Difficulties in understanding fractions are a common challenge for elementary school students. This article aims to identify and summarize learning strategies that have been proven effective in overcoming these obstacles. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach through a literature review of six selected articles discussing fraction learning strategies. The findings reveal that strategies such as concrete media-based approaches, contextual approaches, problem-based learning, digital visual media, cooperative learning, and educational games significantly enhance students' conceptual understanding. The implications of this study are relevant for teachers, researchers, and policymakers in designing adaptive and meaningful learning experiences.

Abstract

This literature review explores the integration of local wisdom into mathematics learning, with a focus on teaching prime numbers, Least Common Multiple (LCM), and Greatest Common Divisor (GCD) at the elementary level. Mathematics is often perceived by students as abstract and difficult due to the lack of connection to their everyday experiences. Incorporating cultural elements such as traditional games and customary community practices can present mathematical concepts in more contextual and meaningful ways. The findings indicate that culturally based approaches, such as ethnomathematics, enhance students' conceptual understanding and foster appreciation for local traditions. However, challenges remain in implementation, including limited instructional resources and insufficient teacher training. Therefore, collaborative efforts are necessary to develop contextual teaching strategies that reflect local culture, particularly within the context of North Sumatra.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the application of the Teacher Code of Ethics in the education profession in the era of Society 5.0 (Harly et al 2025). In addition, this research also identifies various problems that arise along with technological advances. The Teacher Code of Ethics acts as a moral and professional guideline that regulates the behavior and responsibilities of teachers in carrying out their duties, with the aim of maintaining the dignity of the profession and creating a fair and dignified educational process (Suciyati et al 2025). However, amidst the development of Society 5.0, which is characterized by the integration of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and digital connectivity, the implementation of this code of ethics faces significant challenges (Ifadhila et al 2024). The digital divide between teachers in urban and rural areas, variations in technological skills, and low understanding of digital ethics are factors that affect the implementation of the code.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the comparison of mathematical collaboration skills among faculties at Universitas Riau using the Rasch Model approach. This descriptive quantitative research employed purposive sampling and involved 60 students from various faculties. The instrument used was a questionnaire consisting of 15 statements measured on a 5-point Likert scale. The analysis results showed that most items were categorized as having moderate difficulty, except for item 2, which was identified as the most difficult and misfit with the model. This is due to its sensitive content, such as the tendency to select specific group members in collaborative tasks. The Wright Map revealed a relatively balanced distribution of student abilities, with most falling into the moderate to high categories. Faculty A obtained the highest average collaboration score, followed by Faculties C, D, and B. These findings indicate that differences in teaching approaches across faculties influence students' collaborative abilities. The study recommends revising misfit items and strengthening collaborative learning strategies, especially in faculties with lower scores.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of fermentation duration on the quality of cucumber pickles (Cucumis sativus L.). Cucumber pickles are fermented products involving lactic acid bacteria (LAB) activity, which enhances sensory attributes and nutritional value. A descriptive method was employed using three fermentation durations: 3, 5, and 7 days. Observed parameters included pH changes, color variation, and organoleptic tests (appearance, aroma, taste, texture, and flavor balance). The results indicated that 5-day fermentation provided the best overall quality, particularly in aroma, taste, and flavor balance, while 3-day fermentation showed better appearance and texture. Conversely, 7-day fermentation significantly reduced organoleptic quality. The study concluded that fermentation time significantly affects pickle quality, with the optimal fermentation period occurring on the fifth day.
