Abstract

Media plays an important role in the learning process, and media is still often a problem for educators because of the lack of creativity in using it in the learning process to improve children's abilities, including early mathematics skills. Early mathematics skills in early childhood are important to be trained early on to prepare children for further education. In addition, children need to know and understand early mathematical concepts that can be used daily. Therefore, this study aims to develop Counting Bunny Board Mathematics media to improve children's early mathematics skills. This research was conducted with research subjects of group B Sentra Preparation students aged 5-6 years, with 17 children. The research method used by the researcher is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model consisting of 5 stages: analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. Data collection techniques in this Study used interview techniques, questionnaires, Material Expert and Media Expert Validation sheets and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive, qualitative, and quantitative data analysis. The validation results show that the Counting Bunny Board Mathematics media is very feasible to be used as a learning media with a percentage of 100% and 97.5%, and the results of the product effectiveness trial showed an increase of 7.08% from the Pre-test-Post-test results. So this media can be used as an alternative for teachers to support learning

Abstract

Climate change is a global issue that is imperative to introduce to children from an early age so that they develop adequate science literacy to understand and respond to its impact. This study aimed to develop eclice media as an e-book on climate change to enhance the science literacy of children aged five to six. The research method employed the pre-experimental design one group pretest and post-test, with the subject being 20 children aged 5-6 years at Sadao Kindergarten Thailand. The instruments utilized included questionnaires, observations, and science literacy tests. The effectiveness of the media was determined by analysing the data using the Wilcoxon test. The findings indicated that the use of eclice media was both practical (100% feasibility) and led to a substantial enhancement in children’s science literacy (p < 0.05). The research findings suggest that eclice can serve as an alternative to innovative learning media, aiming to foster science literacy from an early age and enhance the role of teachers and parents in environmental education.

Abstract

Preserving the mother tongue is important in building cultural identity, especially in Balinese minority communities outside the area of origin. This study aims to determine the development of the Balinese language of children aged 5–6 years at TK Dharma Santi, Desa Kospa Dwata Karya, Kabupaten Banggai, Sulawesi Tengah. The study used a qualitative approach with observation, interview, and documentation methods. The study subjects included ten children in group B, parents, and class teachers. Data were analyzed using a phenomenological model. The results showed that the development of the children’s Balinese language was quite optimal with five leading indicators: habituation to the use of Balinese, the ability to pronounce simple sentences, understand instructions, participate in conversations, and the use of question words. These findings indicate that school environments contribute to the preservation of the Balinese language from an early age.

Abstract

Although the importance of character building in early childhood is widely recognized, practical strategies for integrating it into daily learning remain underexplored. This study aims to examine the integration of creative dance into Early Childhood Education (PAUD) as a structured approach to character development, explored through the lens of learning planning and evaluation. Creative dance, as part of the creative arts, offers a developmentally appropriate approach to fostering social, emotional, and moral competencies. Using a qualitative case study approach, this research involved PAUD teachers implementing creative dance across six learning stages: warming up, exploring, skill development, creating, forming, and presenting. Each stage was analyzed for its potential to cultivate character values, including discipline, responsibility, tolerance, self-confidence, and cooperation. The findings suggest that creative dance can effectively support character development when implemented through planning and continuous evaluation. Its success largely depends on teachers’ ability to align activities with children’s developmental needs. This study highlights the need for targeted teacher training and institutional support to optimize the potential of creative dance in early childhood character education.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop an AR book, PETANI (Introduction to Indonesian Food Plants), that can help teachers introduce local Indonesian food plants to prevent stunting. This research is a development project utilizing the ADDIE model, which comprises the Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The subjects in this study included learning media experts, learning material experts, and 29 teachers from Banyuwangi Regency. The data collection technique used was a questionnaire administered during validation and user trials. The result of this research is that AR Book PETANI has been developed to the needs of children’s knowledge about local food plants. Additionally, AR Book PETANI is reported to be highly feasible, with an average score of 97.05%, making it suitable for implementation in learning about local food crops at PAUD institutions. This research concludes that the AR Book, with a theme of local food, has been developed as a medium to help teachers introduce local food and prevent stunting. The study’s results confirm the importance of utilizing augmented reality technology in learning media to support nutrition education and optimize the potential of local food as a strategy for preventing stunting from an early age.

Abstract

Appreciation, innovation, and the competencies of knowledge and skills in learning are components that cannot be separated in both early education (Kindergarten-Elementary) and secondary education (Junior-High School). Unfortunately, educators have faced difficulties in finding a learning model that can simultaneously facilitate both knowledge and skills within a unified learning experience. The STEAM concept, which encompasses the principles of practice- and project-based learning, still requires reevaluation to be effectively integrated with the distinctive features of learning at both early and secondary education levels. This research aims to develop an integrative, holistic learning model to enhance knowledge and skill competencies based on STEAM simultaneously. This R&D study was conducted in six steps : (1) needs analysis, (2) literature review, (3) planning and development of the initial model, (4) pilot testing, (5) revision of the main model and field testing, and (6) final model revision. The study resulted in a learning model called CiptaSTEAM with the following steps: 1) Analyse, 2) Sketch/Design, 3) Select media, 4) Test sketch/design, 5) Revise work/product, 6) Presentation, 7) Evaluation. The learning syntax has been proven to be applicable in early education (Elementary). Overall, the integrative holistic learning model has been effective in increasing students' engagement and enthusiasm for learning in a 3rd-grade elementary classroom.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an influence of father involvement on the responsible attitudes of children aged 5–6 years. Using a correlational quantitative approach, 96 fathers were randomly selected from a population of 429 fathers in Medan Tuntungan District. The instruments used were a father involvement questionnaire based on Pleck's theory (2010) and a child responsibility attitude questionnaire from Harris & Bean (2001). Data were analyzed using simple linear regression techniques, which revealed a significant relationship between father involvement and children's sense of responsibility, with a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.737 and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.544. This indicates that father involvement contributes 54.4% to the development of children's sense of responsibility at an early age. These findings emphasize the importance of the father's role, not only physically but also emotionally, in parenting. The researchers recommend educational programs and systematic support for fathers to better understand their role in fostering children's responsibility from an early age. Such support can contribute to more optimal social-emotional development in children.

Abstract

This research is important for identifying effective learning strategies for children with down syndrome in non-inclusive early childhood education (ECE), which currently lacks a dedicated system. This study aimed to study learning strategies in kindergarten. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, utilising a case study method. Data collection instruments included observation, interviews, and documentation, with subjects such as teachers, principals, and children with down syndrome. The results show that an individualised approach, multisensory play-based learning, and collaboration between teachers, parents, and therapists effectively increase child engagement and development. The impact of this strategy is to support more inclusive education in non-inclusive schools, although challenges such as limited teacher training and inadequate facilities still need to be addressed
