Abstract

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of scaffolding as a language learning technique for early childhood education. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, the research analyzes 40 related articles to identify patterns, strategies, and supporting factors in the implementation of scaffolding. The results reveal that scaffolding significantly supports early childhood language development, particularly in phonology, grammar, and vocabulary. Three main patterns in scaffolding implementation were identified: breaking complex tasks into manageable steps, using interactive dialogues to model correct language, and providing real-time corrective feedback. Approximately 85% of the analyzed studies reported significant improvements in children’s language abilities through this technique. Furthermore, scaffolding has been proven effective in enhancing early literacy skills, such as reading and constructing word structures. However, the study also highlights challenges, such as the lack of training for educators and limited supporting resources. These findings emphasize the importance of professional training, the use of educational technology, and parental involvement to maximize scaffolding effectiveness. Grounded in Vygotsky's socio-cultural theory, scaffolding serves as a temporary support framework that enables children to reach their Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD). This study contributes to the literature on early childhood education by providing practical guidance and strategic recommendations for educators to effectively implement scaffolding.

Abstract

This study discusses the importance of the “Project Approach” in early childhood education, which involves activities outside the classroom so that children are involved in conducting observations, interviews and site visits to explore project topics. The results show that direct involvement in real experiences improves children's understanding of the subject matter. In addition, creative representations, such as drawing and modeling, allow children to express their understanding in a variety of ways. The effectiveness of this approach is seen from the increase in children's involvement and motivation in learning, as well as the development of social and communication skills in language. This study supports a more interactive and applied learning approach in early childhood education.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the existence of traditional Sundanese children's songs (folk song) as nursery rhymes in parenting practices, using a survey research method with a cross-sectional study design. The population of this study consists of parents in West Java, with a sample of 340 parents from 18 districts and 8 cities in the region. The samples include three groups of parents: early adults, middle adults, and elderly (under the age of 40, 41-59, and over 60), who were selected using random sampling techniques. The findings show a lack of the existence of Sundanese traditional children's songs as nursery rhymes among parents in West Java, with an average score of 62.76%. The level of knowledge among parents in West Java indicates that around 77.18% of them have an understanding of the cultural values and Sundanese songs. However, the incorporation of cultural values through the use of traditional Sundanese children's songs in parenting is still limited, with an average score of 64.07%. This reflects the limited experience of parents singing or introducing these songs, leading to a lack of memorable connections to Sundanese songs among previous generations. Many parents rarely sing these songs to their children or grandchildren, and a significant portion does not believe that there is any connection between Sundanese songs and parenting. The frequency of parents using Sundanese children's songs in daily parenting activities shows an average score of about 47.15%, indicating a lack of parental involvement in incorporating these traditional songs into everyday parenting practices. This includes singing songs, using them to lull children to sleep, during play, or even to calm children when they are upset or crying.

Abstract

The ability to cooperate and express language is one of the developments that children must have. Providing a stimulus that is not optimal is one of the problems that triggers the problem. Class arrangement is one way that can be provided to help this development process. The aim of the research is to determine the level of effectiveness of classroom arrangements in improving cooperation and expressive language skills in early childhood. This research uses a quasi-experimental research design (quasi experiment). By using a pre-test before being given treatment and a post-test after being given treatment. This research design uses a non-equivalent pretest-pretest control group design. Data was collected through structured observation, interviews and documentation. The subjects of this research were students and teachers from group B at the Muslimat NU 14 Polowijen Kindergarten, Malang City. The results of this research show that the arrangement of the learning environment has a significant influence on the development of cooperation skills and expressive language abilities in young children. Structuring a good learning environment, including space arrangement, providing educational game tools, and creating a conducive learning atmosphere, has been proven to increase the effectiveness of children's social interactions and verbal abilities. In conclusion, the arrangement of the learning environment plays an important role in supporting the effective development of cooperation skills and expressive language abilities in young children. This research recommends that educators create learning spaces that are child-friendly and oriented towards the development of social and language skills.

Abstract

Early childhood nutrition education is essential to support their optimal growth and development. Good nutrition knowledge in children can prevent various health problems such as stunting and obesity. However, despite the abundance of literature emphasizing the importance of nutrition education in children, practices on the ground often do not align with theory, especially at the early childhood education level. Many children are still exposed to unhealthy eating habits due to a lack of understanding about nutrition. This study aims to identify the role of educators in improving early childhood nutrition knowledge at Muslimat NU Pamekasan Kindergarten. The method used was a descriptive qualitative approach with in-depth interviews with educators, parents, and school managers, as well as observation of activities at school. The main findings of this study show that educators have an important role in introducing the concept of balanced nutrition through activities such as eating together, providing nutritious food, and nutrition counseling. However, challenges such as low parental awareness, limited economic conditions, and unhealthy snacking habits outside of school are inhibiting factors. Improving children's nutritional knowledge requires collaboration between educators, parents and the surrounding environment to create a sustainable healthy lifestyle
